Elizabeth Warren 2020

Both what Sanders proposes and what Warren proposes are socialistic.  As are the oft-cited highways and public schools, among many other things.  But that doesn't mean either is a socialist.

I think, and Hugo confirmed, that Bernie is or remains a self-avowed socialist and if he thought it was politically feasible, he would pretty much take over industry.  I could be wrong about him, or about Warren.  My spidey sense tells me Bernie would take as much as the people would give.  Not so much with Warren.

But I can't help but be conservative in that I don't think government is the solution for every ill.  When the private sector has tried, and failed, and horsefucked the people for a generation or two, it is time to give the government a try, though.

They‘re both radical but Bernie is more of a socialist idealist while Warren is a regulator/enforcer of a more egalitarian capitalism.

Our current system is a combination socialist/capitalist but the mix needs to be overhauled to create more opportunities for individual growth.  This is essentially Warren’s pitch.

Bernie’s approach isn’t as clear as Warren’s just how far he would go if it was completely up to him.  His position seem to be, “I’ll do whatever I can get away with, moving things leftward.”

Neither are radical in today's modern Western democratic societies. Not even close.

They’re radical compared to our status quo which has been a slow 40+ years of rightward creeping fascism.  I think what you’re trying to say is they’re not extremists, which is true.

hey now!

My take on the NYT endorsement:

“The next president should obviously be Elizabeth Warren and it’s so obvious we needed to split the endorsement to make it less obvious so voters can discover the brilliance of Elizabeth Warren for themselves.  Amy Klobuchar is good too.”

Good luck America!

E dub dropping a big “fuck Trump” plan today:

CONTINUED:

Donald Trump has done serious damage to our government. He's left key positions unfilled. Of those he has filled, he’s appointed lobbyists, campaign donors, and cronies. His current vindictive actions mean he's likely to do everything he can to undermine the next president.

I know how to get our government working for the people because I’ve done it before. In 2010 President Obama picked me to get the CFPB up and running. We recruited a mission-driven staff, set up the organization, and it acted swiftly to protect Americans from financial predators.

On day one of my presidency, I will take aggressive steps to root out the corruption and incompetence of the Trump administration, starting by removing all political appointees, except those necessary to preserve continuity and protect national security.

I will also direct the Justice Department to establish an independent task force to investigate violations of specific anti-corruption and public integrity laws during the Trump administration, with independent authority to pursue any substantiated violations.

I'll move swiftly to appoint new personnel who will undo the Trump administration's disastrous policies. I'll adopt the strictest anti-corruption hiring rules of any administration in American history.

Under the Trump administration, we've seen appointees who are actively hostile to the missions of their agencies, like Secretary Betsy DeVos, who doesn’t believe in public education. As president, I'll appoint people who want to fulfill their agency's mission, not undermine it.

Our government officials can best serve the American public when they reflect the diversity of the country itself. That's why I'll build a Cabinet and senior leadership team that reflects the full diversity of America.

Donald Trump’s presidency has been a dark time—but it won’t end just because he's left office. Rooting out corruption and incompetence, rebuilding our government, and ensuring it will work for the people will require painstaking work. I've got a serious plan to get it done.

WE, THE UNDERSIGNED, are a group of over 140 Asian American and Pacific Islander leaders who have come together to endorse Senator Elizabeth Warren to be our next President.

We are a diverse group of professionals, creators, innovators, community organizers, advocates, academics, andactivists. As Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, our long roots stretch back to dozens of nations around the world, yet our homes are in states across America — its coasts and its heartland, the north and south and island west.

We love this country and believe in its promise. But we see its flaws and vulnerabilities, the deep-seated ills of inequality, racism, and xenophobia that have existed in this land since before our nation itself, which have been laid bare in this present moment as starkly as any in our history. We also see the major crises this country faces both abroad and at home, from climate change and rising authoritarianism, to political polarization, unchecked gun violence, economic disparities and corruption, and endemic poverty.

This is why we passionately support Senator Elizabeth Warren for President: because she recognizes the gravity of the threats we face today to our democracy and security — and the major structural changes that are required to confront these issues. And we hope that you will join us in supporting her campaign.

As much as I dislike Greenwald, I’m glad my candidate is sticking up for him because it’s the right thing to do.

I am glad Warren joined Sanders in condemning the criminal complaint. It is chilling what is happening to Greenwald - an honest journalist.

He should be thankful that his daughter will have a better life than him - when she has a kid who wants to go to college.

And he should be thankful that a working and middle class will have more money to spend on wherever he works and in the town where he work - so he can enjoy the fruits of a growing economy  - rather than being smothered by debt that is not dischargeable in bankruptcy, which stifles growth and creates conditions ripe for deflation and depression.

He needs to understand the medical and educational debt industry is killing this economy. When it goes - he goes down with it.

There is no half-ass in this election. Make him understand the reality of the economy as it exists today. Too many are oblivious to how bad it is for most Americans. They ignore those in the shadows, but as they go, so does the entire economy (except for the few billionaires and their apologists).

Fucking responsible parents man. SMDH

He's an idiot.

How is he getting "screwed"? What is "the right thing"?

How does Warren's plan hurt him in any way?

It's moralistic posturing with zero actual thought behind it. All he wants is validation that he's a good boy. It's pathetic, just like all you conservatives and your brainless emotionalism.

Like the rest of them, they want a fucking trophy for existing.

What risky behavior is being encouraged?

Taking out student loans to obtain degrees that are not compatible with the financial risk that has been shouldered, with the belief that one day in the near future some sugar daddy or sugar momma politician is going to bail them out for making a poor financial decision.

Confidently fabricated statistics are a sure sign you're dealing with a good faith genius.

Fabricated statistics like the already present moral hazard?  Private student loan lenders today peddling their services behind the cloak of future loan forgiveness offered by politicians.

Something to Consider in the Meantime: a No-Fee Private Student Loan

A competitive-rate private in-school loan may help you cover costs while this issue continues to be sorted out. If your federal aid award isn’t enough to cover tuition and your school-certified cost of attendance, a SoFi private student loan may be able to help fill the gap in your cost of attendance, with flexible repayment options to fit your budget. SoFi charges no fees, including origination, late, or insufficient fund fees.

Getting a SoFi private student loan allows you to become a SoFi member, with access to member discounts, career services, referral programs, financial advisors, and access to over 200 live events.

Once you’re a member, you can also have a conversation with a SoFi Financial Advisor, who can help you navigate your options and even discuss other financial plans, such as retirement planning, wealth building, saving for a home or family, and more.

Moral hazard.  How does it work?

Side note: I am slow paying all my remaining student loan debt.

But there may not be any moral hazard here - other than slow paying to see if it passes.

Ana - with QE4 underway, we have to face the fact we are not inflating. The economy is slowing. And deflation only leads to horrible outcomes. Rather than pumping trillions into the world's top .01% like we did in 2008, it makes much more sense to try and reinvigorate the bottom 99%. No? Health care costs and Education debt is slowing down the new normal. And it will reach the tippy top like it already has touched the working and middle classes. The top .01% won't get trillions this time. The bottom 99% will have their rowboats raised - at substantially smaller levels than the super-yachts that were put on angels' wings in 2008.

This father needs to understand the economics.

Deep thoughts.

This from the guy who wrote this sentence: "Fabricated statistics like the already present moral hazard?"

There is no moral hazard issue at play. The economic argument for forgiveness is strong.

No one who paid off loans is hurt.

This guy is a crybaby moron and conservatives in general are stupid.
