Which Asian team is our biggest threat in Tokyo?

Don't know,  probably Japan who defeated us for gold medal in '08 (final year before discontinued).

Japan also defeated us in the '18 International Cup.

It's really unfortunate that this team is what the selection committee decided to put on the field to represent the USA. I guess it should come as no surprise that they would not select the best players when you consider they picked Ken F'n Eriksen to coach them.  The fact that Amanda Lorenz has been the best player in America for the last 4 years and didn't get an invite to tryouts should tell everyone all they need to know. Now Ken has taken the group on some barnstorming tour to battle the professional women, and the NWT is getting their asses beat by girls who didn't even get to tryout for the team. This could be a very embarrassing Olympic games for the USA.

USA drops 6-4 decision to Japan in opener of Japan All Star Series.    Can't find a boxscore.     Carda is a former UCLA player.  Ricketts also struggled.

Delaney Spaulding (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.) led off the second inning by getting hit by a pitch to put the leadoff batter on base and advanced to second on a grounder back to the pitcher. Tagging up on a fly ball to the right fielder, Spaulding was able to reach third with two outs before a walk to Aubree Munro (Brea, Calif.) put runners on the corners. An RBI single up the middle by Kelsey Stewart (Wichita, Kan.) quickly gave the Americans an early 1-0 lead.

Team USA tacked on another two runs to their lead in the top of the third inning courtesy of a Spaulding two-run shot, but that lead would be erased in the bottom half of the inning. A leadoff walk and single put two on for Japan, prompting a pitching change as Ally Carda (Elk Grove, Calif.) replaced U.S. starter Keilani Ricketts (San Jose, Calif.). A walk to the next batter loaded the bases, but Ali Aguilar (Orangevale, Calif.) fired a ground ball from second to Munro at home for the first out of the inning and a strikeout kept all runners at bay. A wild pitch plated the first run of the game for Japan and a single to right field allowed another two runs to cross the plate, tying the game up at three runs apiece.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, a pair of home runs proved costly for the Red, White and Blue. With two outs, a two-run home run followed by a solo shot put the home team up by three runs after four complete innings

Carda suffered the loss for Team USA, issuing one strikeout, two walks and four earned runs in her two innings of work in the circle. Ricketts struck out one batter with five walks and two earned runs in four innings.

Cat's drop ball looked as dominant as ever and the team hits about as well as every other Ken Eriksen coached team. The lineups that he rolls out and the group of kids that he hand picked are perplexing to say the least. Don't worry about finding a box score. Cat struck out 12 and Team USA mustered 1 run against a team they should've beaten by 10.
