  1. My first date with the future Mrs. Brat was at Shakey’s Pizza on Guadalupe - December 30, 1966. One pizza and two pitchers IIRC. Proposed two weeks later. Best bit of recruiting I ever did.

  3. Amazing moment after Guyger sentencing. Botham Jean’s little brother Brandt tells Guyger he loves her, forgives her, and wishes she didn’t have to go to prison. He also says Botham would feel the same. Then asks, “can I hug you?” Wow! We can learn a thing or 2 from him.

  11. They’re not lying to Jackson about where they project him, dude. Lying to recruits is stupid with the portal lurking constantly and that isn’t what this staff does anyway. You guys on this board are idiotic, handwringing pussies when it comes to the Brockermeyers. It is fucking nauseating. Pull yourselves together. Oh, it’s Jackson.

  12. The offer is real. They like him and he’s probable to flip. This could be the LB take late in this class. Looking good for Dixon too.

  13. I did, and it's plenty fair. I made the call at the time based on history and known evidence....damned glad to be wrong. Not the first time for me, won't be the last (I mean, I'm SURE all of y'all just KNEW Texas was gonna beat the Huskers in the first Big 12 championship, right?) Very much agreed. Our social trend is so much towards separation, and villification. Seeing an outward example of kindness, forgiveness, and acknowledgment that we all live in community with each other -- including with the people who have wronged us -- is really big. It reminds me of the aftermath of the Amish school shooting back in 2006. https://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=14900930 The Amish family members of actual shooting victims not only forgave the shooter, but some of them even attended his funeral. They offered love and assistance to his widow and his family. They walked the fucking walk. It was one of the most powerful displays of Christ-like behavior I've ever seen, and it sticks with me to this day. A lot of us are angry at law enforcement. And we have every right to be. But what do we really WANT? We want them to do their jobs. We want them to do it with kindness and human decency, with awareness and respect for the gravity of their power, and the decisions they may be called upon to make. We actually DO want them to "make it home safely." And we want them to deliberately balance the life and safety of others when they make life-changing decisions. We want them to be like Deputy Dahliwal...and we want him and the rest of them to go home to their family at the end of their shift. I don't hate cops. I hate what they've allowed themselves to become, and I hate that so many of them resist reform. Do we want Amber Guyger to suffer now? Maybe. Maybe somewhat. Because it does send a powerful cautionary message. But what would we RATHER have had happen? I think most of us would prefer to have seen her grow up to be a decent woman with compassion, not fear masked with callous bravado. We'd rather have seen her be capable of doing her job in a cool and professional manner. That way, even if she did goof in showing up at the wrong apartment, upon hearing movement inside, she would have backed up, and assessed the situation....looked at the doormat....looked at the apartment number....and realized it wasn't her own apartment. Maybe she even would have been a good neighbor, knocking on the door to tell her downstairs neighbor that "man, I am really tired, and found myself in front of the wrong door, but I saw that it was ajar, so I wanted to tell you so you could close it and be safe. Have a nice evening." I'm sick of people being so fragile and hostile that they resort to violence and hurting others. I'm sick of people being hurt and killed because violence is such a common reaction among people we should be able to trust. I'm sick of society HAVING to call for justice, and strong sentences to serve as a warning. I'm sick of losing good people like Botham Jean. I'm sick of people like Amber Guyger never developing into a good person, for whatever reasons may have led her down the wrong path. I'd like a society where Botham got to enjoy his ice cream and go to bed, and a good cop named Amber got to have a laugh about how tired she was, and get a good night's sleep. We can and should exact our punishment. But we must also figure out a way to heal who we are. Because who we are right now hurts a shitload of people, for no damned good reason at all.

  15. For those of you who think this should be 20-40 years, what fact pattern that constitutes murder would you think justifies the lower end of the spectrum of the punishment range? Also, how much money would someone have to pay you to accept a 10 year prison sentence starting today? It's just funny because I leaned very heavily to the state's favor in this case, but I think putting her in prison for a quarter century would be insane, counterproductive, and pointless.

  20. I'm in the middle of my first business trip, post sober. First time in an airport since I was 18 years old that I didn't get there really early so I could sit in the bar and get hammered. Last night, I went to my normal spot in Arlington, VA after work. Raw bar night. 3 dozen oysters, 2 lbs crab legs, 1 lb of shrimp......$44 pre-tip. Last time, that same night cost me about $150. Amazing what club soda costs when you don't add a bottle of vodka to the tab. Plus, amazingly I felt great this morning.

  25. And one last thing. Botham's brother's statement and actions may have done more to bring about a change of heart in the police mentality than Amber's verdict. That level of humanity is so incredibly powerful that one can't help but be moved by it. By all accounts, even the deputies in the courtroom were tearing up. Maybe, just maybe, they will look for the humanity in their suspects before deciding pulling the trigger on a perp is easier than the alternative. We are all humans. We are all Children of God. Let's put an end to the us vs. them. We are all one.

  26. Botham Jean's brother is about 10000000000000000000000000000000x more Christian than these so-called Evangelicals like Robert Jeffers and Jerry Falwell Jr (/no CR).

  28. Not a Abbott fan but kudos to him with this message to the mayor and Austin city council giving them until November 1st to fix the mess they've created. That's excellent leadership and use of the hammer he has as the governor or our great state. Don't let them California our Texas.

  29. Roach said on the blitz that Bijan told Roach he sees himself as similar to Shady McCoy, so suck a dick @Katfid54. Also, Roach said the staff still wants Fuonji even after Omeire and may take 4 at WR this year. He also mentioned 2021 is a little thin at WR. he said there’s “stuff going on behind the scenes” with 2 currently committed prospects. One of them is definitely Dixon. Not sure who else he was alluding to. Could be JSN or Josh White. He didn’t think CTJ would flip and didn’t have any current info on Jahari Rogers.

  30. They will do the same thing they did when Obama won twice, they'll watch their Fox News and OAN and listen to Rush Limbaugh, they'll open their pantries and nod knowingly at their Jim Bakker Barrels of Slop, they'll bitch on Facebook and twitter about libtards, and they'll look at the calendar to see when their next Social Security or pension check arrives, and they will quietly seethe at their lesbian niece who brought her girlfriend to the family reunion, while pretending to like their half-black or half-Hispanic grandchild.

  32. A friend of mine lost his 3 yr. old daughter this weekend in an accident that could have easily been prevented. Please SLOW DOWN when driving in parking lots, especially around events where there are lots of children around. Next time you are driving in a park, or near a school, or leaving your kids soccer game, put your phone away, slow down and be aware that at any moment, a child may run out in a parking lot and your actions could drastically change your life and others lives.

  33. I mean, I think the most likely options are Jackson, Foster, and Adeleye for various reasons. I'd go Jackson, Foster and Adeleye in descending order. Of course, I'm basing this auger on the exact same information that Bevo used to label Jake Smith a slow possession receiver: pure unadulterated ignorance.

  34. 12:30 - 14:00 Looch: You're up 14-3, you get this huge momentum swing, the endzone interception. You knock Nick Starkel out of the game, little did you know that that might have hurt you, because not only did Hicks play well, but Starkel spent the rest of the game on the headset, which is basically cheating...by Arkansas. You can't do that. No, you can't do that. A&M finally caught on, and I'm sure they've turned it into the SEC. No, you can't sit there and do that. They were doing that during the game. Um...and again, the guy that everyone who rooting for to play well, was sitting there stealing signals from the A&M side. Along with Dabo Sweeney and Clemson , who are the worst at doing it, you know they passed it around. So I think that's something the Aggies have to look at and say how much did Arkansas know? I think the world of Nick Starkel, but on Saturday, he was the enemy. And that's what I've tried to say the whole year leading into that. it. He was going to give a lot of intel before the game, but especially during the game, unless you had completely changed up everything you could in the way of signals. Which is a lot harder than you think when you have young players and guys in some instances takes a while to learn the ones they already have. It's more complicated than the average fan thinks. 56:15 - 58:15 This is dumb even for Looch standards.
