  3. So one of my Alabama buddies called this morning to cackle about this. We got to talking and I forgot about the ATM story he told me. In Sumlin's last year, Banks and like 5 of the other coaches were all going through divorces or heading there. It was obviously a program and people in disarray. Fisher arrives in the aftermath and he had to "fix" a part of their offices. Apparently, Sumlin had contractors come in at some point and overhaul an area that was either extra space or conference rooms or some shit. They had shag carpeting brought in, a stripper pole installed, a bar, club lighting, and numerous partitioned areas with couches. Yeah, Sumlin built a private strip club in the ATM athletic facilities. They began bussing in strippers from Houston and specifically, the main club of choice is the one up 290 towards the Highway 6 cutoff. I can't remember the name of it but one of you degenerates will know. How did Banks and "Dani" meet and begin dating? You guessed it. She was regularly coming in to dance for major $$ at Club Kyle. Dude dumped his wife and 3-4 kids for her and promptly left them back in BCS when he got the call to go to Bama. Fisher shows up and, numerous obvious jokes aside, looks around and says "what in the fuck?" and eventually had the area remodeled to normal office confines. Another one - The Pole Assassin came to the family Christmas party held by the Sabans a few years ago dressed as a Slutty Stripper Elf. This is a family gathering for the team's players, families, and employees/spouses/kids held in the middle of the day shortly after the SEC title game and the playoffs. They have a Santa there. She proceeds to sit in Santa's lap by herself with numerous photos taken. Along with all of the other photos from the photographer that day, they were posted in the team admin's photo cloud for family members to download the ones of their own family. "Mrs. Terry", who I assume is Saban's wife, goes in to find all of the Pole Assassin photos and they were promptly deleted. The Pole Assassin apparently had numerous monkey incidents while in Tuscaloosa that I don't think we realized because they're not referenced to her and Banks, but she's apparently the source for the monkey business. You can google "Bama Monkey" and get your fix. Below are a couple of links from there: https://www.cbs42.com/news/video-of-bama-monkey-in-tuscaloosa-goes-viral/ https://www.al.com/life/2020/08/bama-monkey-video-just-might-make-you-say-roll-tide.html

  4. That was my wife. I was in a meeting and my wife started blowing up my phone. I stepped out of the meeting and called her. Wife - I ran over a cone and now it’s dragging under the car and everyone is staring at me. Me - Drive up on a curb and pull it out. Wife - Ok I step back in the meeting and remember that she was driving my truck. I was trying to figure out how it was possible to get a cone stuck under a truck with a 4” lift when I got the following text message and picture:

  8. Putting aside my objection to your sloppy use of the word “moderate,” this isn’t exclusive to any type of person. There’s no broad category of people who like being condescended to or told how to act/feel. That’s not the issue. The issue is that we, as a society, have been forcibly moved slowly to the right of the political spectrum to the point where we’re supposed to give equal consideration between the whines and bitches over imagined issues conjured up by right wing blowhards and the actual grievances that anyone to the left of them (not even necessarily on the left of the spectrum) people have over issues that affect not only their lives but the lives of people they care about. The environment isn’t on the same level as a misunderstood strawman of Critical Race Theory The concept of a living wage isn’t on the same level of censoring books in public libraries (and that by itself is objectively an untenable position) The concept of public healthcare isn’t on the same level as misunderstood “fraydumbs.” The concern over nuclear proliferation is not on the same level as piss ant racist attitudes needing to be coddled for the purposes of making degenerates feel good. And if people like you feel bad that I’m using the word “degenerate,” there’s a very simple way to quash that: don’t come to us with degenerate beliefs. Yes, there are such things as degenerate beliefs, much as you kick back against that. -The belief that illegal immigrants are leeches on society that apply for public benefits is a degenerate belief -The belief that African American men are genetically more prone to crime than anyone else is a degenerate belief -The belief that homosexuals shouldn’t be able to codify their relationships in the same way heterosexuals can is a degenerate belief. -The belief that global climate change is a hoax being perpetrated by the Chinese in order to rob us of our economic freedom is a degenerate belief -The belief that COVID-19 is a hoax being perpetrated by the Chinese in order to rob us of our religious freedom is a degenerate belief -The belief that the 2020 presidential election (and only the presidential election) was stolen from Donald Trump by a voting machines system that was invented by Hugo Chavez is a degenerate belief Oh you don’t like the phrase “degenerate belief?” Fine. I’ll substitute “lie” in its place. How’s that? No, the reason dems are feeling heat is that it’s not a single reason. It’s a host of factors that range from a rampage of disinformation regarding the deadliest pandemic we’ve ever seen in our nation’s history, economic downturn that’s a combination of ill effects from that pandemic as well as workers finally beginning to kick back against the very elitist and corporate nature of that economy (elitism and corporatism that douchebags like Youngkin live to defend, incidentally), so on and so forth. It’s not one thing, and it never is. To pin it down on “wokeness” is to parrot shit that someone else heard from Tucker Carlson or Nick Bongino or some other talking head who has an economic interest in promoting candidates/parties when their listeners do not. Virginia voters won’t benefit one iota from Youngkin’s term as governor, and they don’t care because at least “we owned the libs on November 2nd 2021!!!” It’s no different than when people in California say “we won!!!” when the Lakers get another NBA ring. Those gop voters in Virginia didn’t win shit last night. Some cracker, who would hate them if he personally knew them, won against some other cracker. And most people don’t want others calling them Maoists, Castroites, Stalinists, Leninists or cucks just because they have political views to the left of Atila the Hun. There again you take only one half of that dynamic into consideration. Oh bullshit. If you were so concerned about the political spectrum, you’d at least presumably know what it is and where candidates fall on it. You’d then know that both parties are well to the right of the population on virtually all issues of actual consequence, and that the only thing separating them is that the republicans are even further to the right than the Democratic Party, which is pretty far to the right on their own. If you wanted the country to be governed from the actual center, there’s no way in hell you could rationalize voting for a Republican. Such as? The lesson learned from this election is that people are highly suggestible and easily persuaded by con artists and would rather vote against their own interests and see lib tears than see their own situation improve, let alone their fellow man.

  16. Yep, it's a shitty feeling knowing there's no more Astros baseball this season and their last game played wasn't a win. I could probably count on one hand how many games I missed watching or listening to this season and posting along with you assholes in this thread. The last two years have been hard for me personally and the our Astros were always a welcome and important companion/distraction along the way, a group of badass baseball players I enjoyed watching compete at the highest level and giving Astros fans something to be proud of. My Astros fandom is a big part of my life and very much a part of my identity--I know that there were many old friends and work colleagues and distant family all thinking about me when they saw the Astros reach another World Series. The fact is that no AL team has played as many meaningful October games over the last five years as the Houston Astros and maybe only the Dodgers have equaled or surpassed the total postseason games played over that span. Four division titles, five straight LCS, three World Series appearances and a World Series title in the last five years. That is an impressive accomplishment and an era of Astros baseball I will never forget or ever take for granted. This team blessed us with a great 2021 season. My chin is held high. Stros for life.

  17. I want a say in my child’s education, but I deeply resent national political figures convincing the poorly educated, easily duped, or cynical members of my community to interfere with my child’s education. I don’t want these people to have a say in my family’s life. I’d rather they not destroy their children since we live in a society, but they won’t spread their trash into my household. There is certainly left-wing madness to deal with, but “conservative” degenerates trying to infect my family with their deranged thinking is the real looming threat when it comes to the schools. Well, that and valuing deranged for thinking over actually getting a good education, but it’s hard to differentiate. People who threaten teachers or administrators over political garbage are terrorists and shouldn’t get a say. I don’t consult the Taliban for parenting advice either. People who make up impenetrable riddles of false claims based on pretend boogie men are liars and shouldn’t get a say. There’s room for genuine disagreement on curriculum and managing a health crisis, but this isn’t what’s happening with the national narrative. It’s made up garbage damaging my community and my family.

  22. You’re not going to want to hear this but here it goes anyway- moderate people don’t like condescension and being told how to act and feel. Your tone deaf posts last night and today come off extremely condescending and are a big part of the reason that dems are feeling heat right now. Moderates don’t want Hollywood elites, out of touch billionaires or random nobodies on an internet message board constantly telling us that we’re idiots or racists because we have a different opinion than you do. We don’t speak out and stay silent for fear of being cancelled because we voted differently than you and want the country governed from the center. Dems aren’t the only ones guilty of this. Trump does the same shit. Dems like you would rather double down on unpopular policies because you’re obviously smarter than everyone else and the average voter is an uneducated rube rather than learn a lesson from these elections.

I mouthed off to the varsity players in the field house my freshman year the next thing I know I'm tossed out of the field house with no clothes on. Seriously, this is mild....and yes the stupid shit testosterone fueled teenagers do pretty regularly. I mean NFL players do worse than this to rookies....

  27. We signed 6 transfers last year and Worthy. That was with a staff that got hired after the initial flurry of players portaled and transferred. The staff will have been in place for this whole cycle and have a good idea of what we need. There have been multiple people with inside information saying we would be very active in the portal and look to churn the roster since early in the season. You're being a whiny little bitch.

  29. As an Gen X white guy with Gen X white guy friends, who are mainly republicans, I can tell you their views. They don't believe anything was handed to them based on their race or gender. And most likely they were never pulled into a room and told that they were getting the job or the promotion because they're white and male. And my guess is that most of them would even refuse to entertain any possibility that a door was opened for them because of their race/gender. In their eyes, it's only their hard work that led to their success. Because they don't think anything was made easy or handed to them, it pisses them off if they think anyone is getting something they didn't get. Many don't want to think about someone that may have had a door shut in their face when the white guy was hired. I'm not defending or validating their beliefs, just telling you their feelings. Also guys, with this belief, are frequently running organizations. They embrace DEI only because they believe they must.

  30. We've always been a multiple dog family, but we lost two dogs 2 and 3 years ago (both during OU week) and have been a one dog family ever since. The two we lost were 13 and 14 years old and it was pretty hard on us all so we've been reluctant to bring another in. Well, a friend's dog had a litter of pups a few weeks back and my daughter has been pressing me to get one. We're huge Brave fans (since 1978 for me, so no bandwagon here!)...so I told her we could get a puppy if the Braves won the World Series. I never even expected them to get past the Brewers so felt it a safe bet. I didn't specifically say from this litter, but she says it was implied...and just the fact that a freshly turned 9 yr old knows how to use that argument correctly almost sways me. The main thing holding me back is both pups remaining are males, and I've always had better luck with females in the intelligence department. So what say ye? By the way, I'll have this girl to help me train the next one we get...whenever that may be.

  32. Horseshit. CRT is defining individuals as either an oppressor or victim based on the color of their skin. It is promoting anti-racism, which is saying there is no such thing as not racist ideas, only racist and anti-racist. That a race neutral society is not desirable. Some quotes from Kendi's book, which was on my 7th grader's school summer reading list: A. includes Stamped from the Beginning: The Definitive History of Racist Ideas in America by Jason Reynolds and Ibram X. Kendi.[1] a. “White people think more of themselves, which further attracts them to racist ideas; b. “Racist and anti-racist ideas have lived in human minds for nearly six hundred years. Born in Western Europe in the mid-1400s, racist ideas traveled to colonial America and have lived in the United States from its beginnings;” c. “To love capitalism is to end up loving racism;” d. “I did not fully realize that the only thing extraordinary about White people is that they think something is extraordinary about them;” e. “There is no such thing as a not-racist idea, only racist ideas and anti-racist ideas;” f. “Instead, they define policies not rigged for White people as racist. Ideas not centering White lives are racist. Beleaguered White racists who can’t imagine their lives not being the focus of a movement respond to ‘Black Lives Matter’ with ‘All Lives Matter;’” g. “Embattled police officers who can’t imagine losing their right to racially profile and brutalize respond with ‘Blue Lives Matter;’” h. “Do-nothing climate policy is racist policy since the predominantly non-White global south is being victimized by climate change more than the Whiter global north, even as the Whiter global north is contributing more to its acceleration;” i. “Race is a mirage…they fail to realize that if we stop using racial categories, then we will not be able to identify racial inequality;” j. “The most threatening racist movement is not the alt right’s unlikely drive for a White ethnostate but the regular American’s drive for a “race-neutral” one. The construct of race neutrality actually feeds the White nationalist victimhood;” You cloak room nuts love this shit. Most Americans do not. Yes. Keep this up. Go more progressive. Call everyone who disagrees with you a racist deplorable. More woke. I know Texas Hispanics love progressive white liberals and being called Latinx. Double down. You fuckers live in an echo chamber. Twitter is not America.

  37. just some food for thought for surly astros fans, re: how you guys come across to everyone else here. you guys won the WS in 2017, and when it was revealed that you won that WS by using one of the more advanced and sophisticated methods of cheating that baseball has ever seen, you all made yourselves and your team out to be martyrs. you then somehow got a chip on your shoulder about the whole thing and proceeded to talk mad shit to any and every fan base who had a problem with the cheating. you earned a reputation over the years of being arrogant, loudmouth dickheads, the kind one would normally associate with NYC, Philly, or some other trash city full of trash people- not with a city like Houston. When you got back to the WS for the third time in five years, instead of being nervous and hopeful, you were brash and dismissive. you yawned at the Braves; you said that Ozzie Albies, the best offensive 2B in baseball, was average as a hitter; you claimed that the white sox were clearly superior to the Braves, and pointed out how easily you dispatched the white sox; you said that the Braves only had three decent hitters; you continuously downplayed everything good about the Braves, and incessantly cited their season-long stats as proof of their futility, which is disingenuous at best, and just plain stupid at worst. When fans of other teams took issue with this type of behavior, several of you SCREAMED at us that "literally no one" who is an Astros fan had said anything dismissive or disparaging about the Braves. you repeatedly posted long, angry diatribes about how we were all just making shit up and "attacking" you guys for no reason, as if we all aren't in here reading the same thread. Brash, pompous, arrogant, loud mouthed, uneducated, shit talking goons, who are also somehow victims and martyrs. That's how you all have represented yourselves over the last several years, and especially during this postseason. What's interesting is that you guys are in no way representative of the Astros fans who i know in real life. Those folks are generally just normal baseball fans, who root for their team with at least some sense of humility, and without all of this entitled arrogance and underlying rage. My best guess is that the dedicated Astros thread- your own little echo chamber of superiority and martyrdom- is what gets you guys so riled up and ready to talk shit. That your behavior has become normalized among your group, to the point where y'all can't even see how horribly you come off to everyone else around here. Hate him all you want, but based on my experience on this forum over the years i would much rather sit down and watch a game with helobious than a good majority of the Astros fans here. he's a lot classier and much more calm than you guys are. So, to sum all of this up, i will quote the Los Angeles based, grammy award winning rapper Kendrick Lamar: sit down. be humble. you guys had your time. it's over. now go back to your thread and stay there, please and thank you. you can come back out when you've learned some manners. we won't hold our breath.
