  1. It hard to like Sark right now with these freaking collapses but hey he owned it and backed up his staff.

  2. I just want to add that I'm not here to pillory Kyle Rittenhouse. He is a fucking child. A child. I had an extensive conversation about this with a good friend of mine who is a juvenile defender by profession and his view on this trial mirrors mine. He should be in kid court facing kid sentencing. Period. It is absolutely disgusting to me that he is facing life in prison (even though he is likely to be acquitted) at this moment. Did he act in self defense? YES. Did he actively place himself in a situation where the likelihood of him needing to use deadly force to defend himself was high? YES. It's even more disgusting how politicized this case is from both sides of the aisle, that we're fighting amongst ourselves when we should be fucking dragging the shitbags that filled his head with all the self-defense, protection of property, cowboy yee-ha bullshit that lead to him making a dumb shit teenage idiot brain decision to go wandering across state lines with a gun he shouldn't be able to legally own during a protest. He is literally the perfect poster child for a person who a fair and just criminal courts system could rehabilitate and turn into a success story if we had any inclination to ever do so. This shit pisses me off so much, and the discourse around it makes it clear that we'll just never be better.

Thank you also to those of our family members who served in generations past. I appreciate their service with honor bestowed upon them. Hook’em !!!

  6. I just think it is ridiculous when you say the "DT Crowd" when unequivocally the thoughts here have been that kid should not have been there. I assure you that just about every single "DT Crowd" poster would rather this not have happened. You just can't get "team" out of your head. I don't know why, but you are the carbon copy of everything you claim to hate. You just do it from some self assigned moral high horse.

  7. Psst sportswriters ... if you frequently opine on how soft the Texas program is and also are saying Bo was out of line here, then it's a giant tell that you are in the business of hot takes and don't actually mean anything you say.

  8. That's exactly it. The culture is bad and Davis yelling to fucking portal means that staff knows they need to get quite a few guys to go to turn it around. Sark may not seem like the best of HC but I believe in this staff moreso than any of Charlie or Herman's staffs. These are guys that have coached on title teams. Guys who have evaluated and recruited top talent who have heart and love the game and not just measurables. I believe they can turn it around and lay a winning foundation but it will take a lot of time. This isn't basketball where you only need 7-10 dudes to go from shit to great. There's 44 dudes on just the two deep alone so much more complicated to get turned around. The best thing we can do is show patience. We've been wandering the desert for 11 years. Instead of wandering 11 more let's commit to giving Sark and Co they time they need to get this built. Not changing coaches every few years and not publicly cutting the coach down and killing his recruiting ability. That's the only chance we have to get this turned around.

  9. I have only followed this trial peripherally, and this thread sporadically... but I have two observations, which likely have already been made (and which are maybe the same observation): 1. We should have learned from the OJ trial that there doesn't have to be a hero on either side. OJ can be a monstrous wife-beater and a murderer and also Mark Fuhrman can by a racist, fascist piece of shit who has no problem with felony perjury about his (apparently quite frequent) use of the N word. Pretty obvious parallels here where the victims (yes... victims) can be shitty people with shady histories who were actively involved in criminal mischief, while simultaneously Rittenhouse was a wildly unstable kid who classmates openly feared for his "school shooter" potential, a person caught on video repeatedly punching a woman in the back of the head in a street fight, a kid illegally carrying a weapon designed to kill a lot of people very quickly, and one who thought it was a great idea to wear a "free as fuck" shirt and flash a white power hand sign while taking his victory laps. The idea of Rittenhouse as a celebrated hero is just horrifying. I mean, I have no doubt that OJ was guilty as fuck, but I'll die before you see me celebrating or justifying Fuhrman. 2. I cannot imagine the outrage if a black family got some welfare money (pandemic-related unemployment check), used the money and an (obviously, illegal) shill buyer to get an assault rifle, and then his mother (who participated in the gun-buying scheme as a shill "owner") drove him across three counties and a state line in order to drop him off at a "Unite the Right" rally, and all of that predictably ended in multiple deaths. Also, "free as fuck" shirts, gang signs posing with members of his same race, etc. I mean, would this thread still break down along the same lines? If not, why?

  10. Sark: wtf is the big deal? They played like shit and bo stepped up and gave them a well deserved talking to. Why are you asking me about this shit? Did none of you play sports at the high school level?

  13. We just closed on some Black Hills land. Here is a quick iPhone pic I took of some nice muleys (still in velvet) we saw when the realtor was showing me where he has seen Elk herds. The elk herds usually are closer to the wooded area out of frame to the right. When I was messing with my photos to see which one was the least worst photo, some nice white tails took off towards the woods. I missed that photo, but I had seen enough to want the property.

  14. We had a Vietnamese kid try out for the basketball team one year. After he continued to camp out in the lane on offense during practice one day, coach stopped play and dragged him by his arm up on side of the lane, across the free throw line, and back down the other side of the lane. He then told him, "This! This is Laos! No go Laos!"

  15. Are you really this far fucked in the head? Did you watch American Psycho and think, “I identify with Patrick?” Did your parents not hold you? What the fuck happened to you to make you so callous? We recently lost a poster on this site that was on your political team. No one was running victory laps. You keep saying 3-0. Like it is a score and not people injured or killed. Not like there are not families of people that are grieving because some dipshit son of a cunt dropped him off to commit violence. You probably wish it was you there doing the shooting.

  17. Here’s a picture of my dad being awarded the Silver Star for his service in Vietnam. He decided to make a career in the Marine Corps, and later served in the Persian Gulf War before retiring in 1993. The guy has been my hero my whole life. Thanks to everyone who’s served, however and wherever.

  19. "Bo Davis" was my first language as a child. I will translate. Me and the other coaches been talking and we decided y'all MFers ain't shit, and we intend to find some MFers who are about they shit to replace y'all ain't shit MFers. Right now, we gotta roll with y'all ain't shit MFers in order to field a team, but rest assured, as soon as we can we bout to start putting these empty boxes in front of lockers, starting with the ain't shit MFer with the camera back there thinking he funny. Y'all MFers think its a game? This ain't no game. When you get in between my money and your scholarship you gonna fuck around and find out which one is more important to me, and the rest of these coaches around here, because we got bills to pay. The portal is the new plank MFers, and some of y'all about to walk it. You can do it on your own or with a gun at your back MFers, but either way MFers will be in it. Look around the bus. See these other coaches sipping tea and looking the other way? You got-damned right they don't give a damn about y'all MFers' feelings right now.

  20. When I was 15 years old I had a Pony League coach throw a pitch up and under my chin during batting practice. I hit the deck and raised hell about him trying to hit me. He explained he wasn't and to get my ass up and get back in box. His next pitch hit me squarely in the middle of the back and he yelled, "There! I was trying to hit you. Feel the difference."

  22. Texas should always have a 5star QB, a 5star RB, a 5star WR, and a 5star LT on the roster. This state supports those numbers easily. That should be a minimum expectation on offense. If we arent absolutely elite on that side of the ball, in this state, then our coach is not doing his job.

  23. Beyond the fact that this is almost certainly not real and will likely involve some poor fool holding the bag, whether it’s Trump U or the Foxconn plant in Wisconsin: This proposal clearly doesn’t understand that all of this already goes on in basic secondary education, and especially in most liberal arts schools. I had to read Hayek, Vin Mises, and Friedman in Political Economy at Bates. They are pretty much required reading at any liberal arts school if you want to get a Political Science degree. I had a Marxist professor who taught a two semester class on Marxism and the entire second semester was criticism of Marxist theory and teachings. My fucking secondary concentration was classical liberal theory (tl;dr- Hobbes is right, if not authoritarian, Locke believes in equal rights, if you are a property owning white guy, Rousseau was a genius on class equity and empathy, and a horrific misogynist). There is no shortage of conservative thought you are required to read in most humanities education. Goddamn Gordon Wood, yes that Gordon Wood, entire schtick is The Founder were super freedom men, and America is truly unique in its democratic experience But it also wasn’t until I got to college after receiving a HS degree from one of the best public schools in the country that I actually read the articles of succession and really understood that the civil war was entirely, totally, and absolutely about slavery. From the mouths of founders of the confederacy. If real, This UTAX idea is not to foster debate and free thought: it’s to literally create a safe space for right wing indoctrination.

  25. The Kombucha company is based out of Dallas. His big autograph one is national, they were even in Texas last month for an autograph show. If anything, both of these NIL deals would WANT Quinn to come to Texas. Not just based on location but most importantly playing time and profile. Hell if this autograph company wants to see any ROI on that big dumb contract, they NEED Quinn to comes to Texas and start immediately. No one is paying shit for a fourth string QBs autograph. Certainly will lose his Colombus truck deal but will probably pick up a Surly Horns one so we can call that a wash. We will just give him @Wulaw Horns van

  27. Rubella was eliminated from being endemic in the US. We require rubella vaccines for kids to attend school. Every single person in the US has been vaccinated for Rubella besides the weird homeschool kids that never go to college. Guess, what, Rubella wasn't that deadly. In 1965, It only killed 2100 newborns and 11000 fetuses. Another 20,000 had birth defects. That is a drop in the bucket compared to Covid, but everyone still gets vaccinated. Why? Because as society we decided not be selfish pieces of shit and let some 2100 kids die. So your position of "I looked at the risks, and I'm just going to take my chances, sorry if someone else dies, that's just life" is abhorrent and you should be ashamed. That is not political. Taking the vaccine protects the lives of others, not just you. Refusing to take a vaccine is not a political stance, it is you being a selfish piece of shit. The rest of society calling you out for being a selfish piece of shit is not politically motivated. The motivation is not to have more people die.
