  2. Thanks for the self talk, Stuart Smalley. The guy showed up to a fucking recruiting thread about the current class, 4+ months before signing day and declared that it’s no big deal if Texas doesn’t land a prime Edge recruiting target announcing today between us and the fucking aggies, and it really doesn’t matter if Texas adds anyone else because we’d land that holy fucking grail of a top 15 class. If you are too stupid to understand why that take, in context, is wrong on every level, then I’m not sure trying to tell me and the rest of the board otherwise is the play, but you’ve gone and done it. Maybe in the future, write it out in long form first, read it again, put it in an envelope, stamp it and mail it to yourself. Then, when it arrives, read it again and sleep on it. If after all of that, you wake up and think we need to hear more from you, sure, try again. I don’t give one shit if someone disagrees with me. I have more fun when that happens. What I think most of us care about however is that the post(s) in disagreement is worthy of being a take unto itself and merits our time to further dignify it with a thoughtful response.

  3. That jacket is responsible for 65% of our recruiting success. Arch accounts for the remaining 82%.

  4. Biden is too old to be president and I only voted for him because of my disdain for Trump. But he is fucking crushing it. His Fed is threading the needle to a soft landing, getting inflation under control without seeing significant increases in unemployment. His SoS and DoD have steered Russia into losing a large scale kinetic war in Europe without a single US soldier’s boots on the ground, while also mitigating the economic fallout thru negotiations with the Saudis (oil) and Turkey (wheat). On top of that, they’ve leveraged the event to expand NATO. He’s effectively addressed pandemic-induced shortages of formula and fuel. And now he’s about to pass a bill that I believe will be moderately effective at addressing RX drug prices and reducing the budget deficit. I wish he’d been able to pass better protections for voting rights and election integrity, and I wish he could get comprehensive immigration reform to instill a firm but compassionate border policy that also serves to address a long term labor shortage (something that doesn’t even appear to be on the list). And he’s still too old to be president. But considering the narrow congressional majority and geopolitical conditions he’s been dealt, his administration has far exceeded my expectations so far.

  5. You’re wrong. Shut the fuck up. Post your stupid shit somewhere else besides the fucking 2023 recruiting thread if you want to announce to everyone that you don’t care about 2023 recruits. Just a terrible fucking take when considering context. Fucking terrible.

  6. Well, put me on the list. I had COVID a month ago. I had some residual symptoms like a cough and some fatigue, so I chalked it up to Long COVID. Mid last week, I had some other random symptoms, came to Seton and they diagnosed me with leukemia. I was immediately admitted and have been here ever since. Started a 7 day Chemo protocol on Tuesday. I then have to stay here for a few weeks as I will have zero immune system. They’re wiping all of it out and hopefully it rebuilds. So, I’ll be in the same fucking room for 4+ weeks total. It’s fucking crazy. So out of nowhere. I’m 40 and in good shape, so I hope that helps my long term chances. Sounds like 50/50 I’ll need a bone marrow transplant. They’ve also had really big advances in targeting certain leukemia types the last 2-3 years, so that’s good for me as well i have a wife and two kids (5 and 2) at home and not being able to come home to see them every day is heartbreaking. I really hope this regiment goes well and I can do some out patient care in the future as needed.

  7. Weird to think that back on hornfans when the "tort reform" stuff was working through the system there are people on this very forum, this very thread, who were party-line Republicans back then and argued with me when I said that it was actually socializing the costs of human suffering, by transferring those costs from those that profited from causing them to those who were wounded most and the society they depended on for support. But I was told everything would be fine, because then medmal rates would go down and of course the price of healthcare would follow. Oops! A shame that it took Donald Trump and Alex Jones to open your eyes. Good job good effort.

  8. Roddy Jones (former Georgia Tech RB) on Sirius XM this morning: "Maybe Malachi Nelson is enamored by A&Ms litany of....8-4 seasons. Or maybe he's enamored by the money A&M is throwing around. That's not a shot at.... Well, yea, it's a shot at A&M" lol

  9. Amnesty International should probably spend a little less time criticizing Ukrainians for trying not to get raped, murdered, and eradicated from the planet, and spend a little more time censuring Russia for... you know... raping, murdering, and attempting to eradicate Ukrainians from the planet. 10. Appellate lawyers are a different breed, man. Some of us became lawyers because we argue all the time anyway, or because we are good at writing, or because we like money and aren’t qualified to do anything else. But appellate lawyers actually enjoy law. As in: they geek out over cases and opinions and statutes and shit. They like reading about law. They like thinking about it. They like talking about it, even in social settings. Makes me fucking sick.

  15. I'll play. -QB - A+ -RB - A+ with Baxter. I guess Bama having 2 five star commits at this position could nullify this position, in this singular class, but relative to every year in history as well, I'll stick with A+ -WR - C+ with Cook - I like the group okay. Marion loves Wilson, and has been on him since early in his time at Pitt. If he's a great evaluator, this could make the C+ look stupid. Niblett, Cook, and Hale all have the same serious question about their hands. We've seen the problems with guys that can't consistently make the grab. -TE - B without Robinson, A+ with him - I like Spencer a lot for in-line TE. I think that position is hugely underrated by the service these days, but that role is a big deal in Sarkisian's scheming. Randle allegedly has great hands. I'll take a guy as the last guy in the class that helps us land the #1 recruit in the nation and has a reputation for being able to get open and make catches. Robinson takes things to 11. -OL - A- - Realistically, I don't know how much better we could have expected this group to look after the 2022 class. The group consists of giant bodies who have been vetted on understanding their individual needs to develop on campus for a bit before being thrown into the fire. Goosby and Cojoe represent legit long term upside due to athleticism or age. Stroh is a mean fucker that likes to work. -Nose - A+ - Texas has the commitment from the guy that everybody wants. -DT - D - Spencer ain't getting it done on his own. I feel like we're destined to come up short here. We sent some guys home from visits this cycle telling them thanks for the visit but not pushing for a commitment. So then who are we on? Deal? Is that it? I feel like Davis has to have some sort of plan but someone else is going to have to explain it. -Edge - B- - Spencer and Gullette are fine as a tandem, but I wish we had a 3rd guy and that that guy was also an obvious potential difference maker. Akana and I can be convinced that this should be graded as an A-. -LB - B - I like both takes just fine. We need more and missing on Hill hurts a lot. I have a sad fantasy that Perkins doesn't dig Baton Rouge and bails into the portal after this season, right into our open arms. Missing on that guy last cycle because we weren't fully weaponized on NIL stings. Missing Hill this time because ATM is a dark money, bootlegging hillbilly operation sucks too. -CB - A - If Muhammad is fucking good. Matthews is very good too. If Texas can flip Calvin Simpson-Hunt from Ohio State, that takes this group into orbit. They were apparently not interested in further discussions with Thomas, so it looks like they think they're getting Matthews and will play out the CSH effort to the end. -S/NB - A - Williams is a 5 star and looks it. They've liked Johnson the whole way. I don't think they land Toviano, but they're all-in on him. So is everyone else though. Landing him, much like landing CSH at CB, would be over the top. I don't know if landing Mikal Harrison-Pilot changes any rankings for me. Not landing Gullette or Matthews would. Landing Shelby would too, I guess. Not sure about who else they're on that legitimately moves the needle. If Hall or Wilson wind up in the class, obviously that would change DT or Edge quite a bit, or both if they landed both. Seems really unlikely.

  20. The hell they weren’t. Bush/Cheney foreshadowed Trump in a thousand different ways and I’ve pointed them out often. Trump just turned it all up to eleven. The return of the Imperial Presidency, the promotion of the Unitary Executive Theory and the expansion of presidential powers. The stupidity and incompetence of the executive. The war on science. Trampling on public education. The politicization of government institutions. The tearing up of treaties like the Geneva Convention. (We don’t torture! Torture is only good at forcing false confessions.) Ignoring intelligence that doesn’t fit your policy. When Joe Wilson proved false their claim that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy yellowcake uranium from Niger, they retaliated by outing his CIA agent wife Valerie Plame. How Trumpian is that? Preventing gay marriage was a central plank on Bush’s re-election platform. Cheney didn’t support it but he went along with it. Bigotry was alive and well in the Bush/Cheney administration. And the Nixonian influence on both Cheney and Roger Stone is unmistakable. That’s just off the top of my head.
