Haalp!   I've drained my pool.  I have 4 gal of liquid chlorine and 2 gal of muratic acid.  I've been told by my local pool store person to spray the acid on the pool plaster (1:`10 w/ Water).  Let it set for a few minutes. Scub and wash off with water.  Repeat with chlorine. Scrub. Wash.

backstory:   I've been fighting green algae  for the past six months.  Gave up treating this winter with the idea that I'd empty and start over after the oak bloom.  Which is where I'm at now.  Pools ARE worth it!

    Ok.  Lots of variables.

I'll dm you in a few.

You want to avoid bleach and acid mixing.

    Look up mustard gas.

Here’s a (not great) picture of my wife’s 28 mm Oyster Perpetual and Cartier Tank Francaise Medium to give you an idea on comparative size. The Cartier is a bigger watch overall. She is looking for a purple face 31mm Oyster Perpetual now to get a little bigger Rolex. The 28 is a little on the small side.466745B3-10F9-4F93-A516-00B37B03F6E0.thumb.jpeg.546e4918070e7dc8a8d7c3dc20bb5faf.jpeg

    Really appreciate it!

I masturbate a lot but mostly it’s to impure thoughts of Kate Chopin and Willa Cather munching each others boxes while I have Stephen a smith scolding me about something in the background on tv. I live at home with my parents

John Kennedy Toole lives and posts on surly.

I got one of the new Cartier tank Francaise watches today.  I went with the Medium.  The XL was way too big.

Looking to get something like this for my daughter.  You mind posting a pic?

Was just looking at tank anglaise today with sapphire crown.

She is reconnecting the pool heater line and has to dig a hole to find the pipes.  Quite sexy, I’m serious. She said I’m going to go dig a hole I said wanna have sex later. Don’t get me started on those pool assholes it’ll ruin the mood.  Bodies might be buried in this hole.  But a short lived tagalong to clever’s epic hole. This one will be done by tomorrow.

Common law for now. Probably an unceremonious ceremony this spring.

Pool work still not finished. Hey pool builder there’s a leak, they said ok let’s fill it up anyway. Once pool filled, hey pool builder, there’s a leak. They said, okay we need to drain the pool. Ok pool builder, you’ll need to pay for water to refill. They said, no, no, the contract says the water fill is your cost.

they know we are on rainwater collection, so pool water to fill is hauled in. They keep saying let us know when you’re hooked up to the water we will fix the leak.  Idiots.

there’s more but that’s the “funniest” DaVinci  pools contractors and project managers are incompetent.  Buyer beware.

Do they have any idea where the leak is?  Have they put the plumbing under pressure,  dove the pool to leak test drains, etc?  First step is having a leak detection co do that.  They also have listening devices to get an idea of where a leak might be if it's under deck, etc.

And there's a lot in a contract that a pool builder stipulates they won't do, but jhfc.

Having a swim party Monday. I was planning on starting the heater on Friday but looks like we’re about to see a big drop in temps. Should I start it today while it might be a little warmer before it drops to the 30s at night?

Probably safe to start Friday.  Will prob be to temp by Sunday.  But then again size does matter.  Both of the heater and pool.

Look, I don't trust the Chinese government either, but the sheer panic and hysteria this thing caused was ridiculous. The Pentagon saw this thing coming. The administration was justifiably upset it entered our airspace, cancelled a planned trip by the Secretary of State, and now may recall our ambassador over it. The president ordered it to be shot down when safe to do so last Wednesday. The Pentagon assessed the balloon wasn't a threat but went ahead and jammed its comms (I think I read that last part somewhere). Then, the military shot it down when they were ready to do so. Now, they're gathering up valuable intel. End of story.

    Who was panicked or hysterical?

In short even if there is an “innocent” explanation for said balloon who gives a fuck? Shoot it down on principle and mail the remains back to them in a pine box. Because fuck them.

I'll pos rep this shit right here.

Bumping as I'm getting deeper into Maui (and Oahu) Revealed. I am starting to think that maybe we won't do the Road to Hana. I am not sure it would be super enjoyable for my family. I know that I will be distressed the entire time due to my driving habits and associated anxiety. I'm not scared of narrow winding roads, but I am borderline obsessive about driving etiquette and I put a lot of stress on myself to know and anticipate every little thing. I wish I could turn my brain off but I can't without drugs or alcohol and I don't think that would be wise. My oldest is 13 and he is adventurous like me (Mom and my daughter not so much) but he is a puker prone to car sickness. My daughter won't be up for many of the hikes. It's a long time in the car for them, excursions notwithstanding.

The other factor is the way I structured the trip, somewhat out of necessity. We are doing the first 3 days/2 nights in Maui at the Westin Nanea Ocean Villas. Then we are flying to Oahu for 2 nights at the Hilton Hawaiian Village, and then back to Maui for another 5 nights at Honua Kai. I'm not sure I want to spend a solid 2-3 days of that 5 day chunk exploring that side of the island. One day sounds better. So I am more thinking that we either do Haleakela (leaning sunset vs sunrise) OR road to Hana with Wai'anapanapa Park being the destination. We enjoy the resort atmosphere and for excursions prefer hidden gem types vs elbow jostling with other tourists. I also keep reading about what a shit show it has become for the locals and that is a turn off for me. The black sand beach and waterfall pools do sound awesome but at what tradeoff.

    Any thoughts?

Let go and enjoy it.  Make the stops, see the falls.  If you're wound up on vacation what's the point.

Umm, is it possible your reference to the infamous aggie gubernatorial candidate was accidental? If so, I need a gold star today for being awesome.

Not accidental.   But have a gold star to add amongst your many, many accolades!  I stated my preference.  Hold no grudges or indignation for those that disagree with me.

It's a very specific statement that I would prefer not to have on this board.
