  1. So assuming alaska and nc, gop has 50. Even in a 50/50 split I don't think the fillibuster and court expansion happens with kamala as the tie breaker. Over/under of $250mm being spent in Georgia on these runoffs. I'm going to guess GOP gets them both. All the votes against Trump by white suburban women are going to flip back to make sure GOP serves as a brake on the dems.
  2. wrap this bitch up tonight and let's go to the house and relax.
  3. using the WSJ site, looks like there are 347k votes still to be counted. Of those, 61.06% would have to break towards Biden to get to a tie. Cal would need to do better than that. He need 62%, or 20k, of the votes to tie.
  4. Of our Toss Up races, 24-year veteran Maine Sen. Susan Collins was proclaimed dead by many Republicans privately, but as of now (6 AM) has 49.5 percent of the vote with about 1/3 outstanding. Democrat Sara Gideon is at 43.6 percent, and even if she got all of the second-place votes in ranked-choice voting from Green-party-aligned independent Lisa Savage, it wouldn't be enough. One has to expect Collins could get some second-place votes to put her over the 50 percent mark. This one remains a question mark, but the trajectory all night long looks far better for Collins. If this holds, this may be the one state that breaks from the 2016 tradition, with voters electing a senator of a different party than its presidential state result.
  5. https://cookpolitical.com/analysis/national/national-politics/what-we-know-wednesday-morning-electoral-college-and-senate Looks like Senate will be 52-48 GOP. Polls were an abject abortion
  6. I don't know why anyone thinks the Hunter stuff matters. It won't move a single voter and if it does, they were already voting for Trump regardless.
  7. Normally I'd agree but I think there is usually one surprise against the consensus. That surprise could also end up being Texas or South Carolina going Dem and having 53/47 Dem split.
  8. Don't know about NC, IA, or MI. I think we end up with a 50/50 with Michigan being a surprise or 51/49 if NC stays R.

  10. they have approximately $190 Billion in cash on hand. So.....
  11. Fucking Ignoramus Guru Herman, Toodles
  12. Rather, no new taxes plus there are certain things people don't think the government will be good at doing. More/Larger government programs should require additional revenue through tax increases. So when a politician says something like "free healthcare for all", small government advocates get antsy because it means their taxes are going up (to the reduced spending ability of their own family) and they expect the government will run it like a shitshow.
  13. don't know about him specifically but to your point, I agree that the actual number of liberals has not changed much. What is true is that only group that feels comfortable sharing their opinions are strong liberals. https://www.cato.org/blog/poll-62-americans-say-they-have-political-views-theyre-afraid-share
  14. this pisses me off even more. How the fuck do people all the sudden get offended by that? Was that Caden in the last little frame there with a smile and his horns up? Who were the guys sitting with the students smiling and having a great time?
  15. you're probably right, no way this was the plan. The recycled playbook of emails!!! was the idea. And they stumbled into the derivative.
  16. There will be transfers or juniors not coming back for their senior year over this. One of the selling points for UT is connections to the alumni post college since most players will not play in the NFL. Those players that started the eyes issue over the summer are about to be faced with a very real life episode of "when keepin' it real goes wrong".
  17. I think most people realize the story is horseshit. The gambit, it seems to me, was if the social media platforms would start banning and restricting the article where repubs could moan about repression/censorship/outright banning and double standards. That is working
  18. https://texassports.com/news/2020/10/14/forty-acres-insider-oct-14.aspx Greetings Longhorn Nation, I do want to start today's Forty Acres Insider by apologizing to y'all for my delay in getting back to your many tweets, phone calls and emails in a timely fashion, as my wife has been battling severe vertigo and migraines for the past six weeks, and on Tuesday, we finally got in to see a neurologist followed by an MRI and scans. She's doing okay and we're awaiting those results, but I've obviously had a significant amount of my attention on her and this situation. I'll keep you posted on my bride … fingers crossed! Many of your questions have been about our student-athletes and the confusion about why they have not remained on the field for "The Eyes of Texas" after the games. I, like so many of you, view the song with pride and sing loudly and proudly in honor of the efforts of those who represent and support this phenomenal institution. As much as our student-athletes love this University, they have questions about the history of "The Eyes" and concerns about it. As you are aware, this past summer, during the height of civil unrest in our country, some of them brought to our attention their concerns over a number of issues on campus, including the origin of the song. President Hartzell was absolutely clear that "The Eyes" is and will remain our school song, but in an effort to further understand its origins, full history, and how it's evolved over time, he established a committee to study, contextualize, and reclaim the song's origin. We believe it is important to understand the history as we continue to perform it. With that said, I do want to clarify that I have had many conversations with our head coaches outlining my expectations that our teams show appreciation for our University, fans, and supporters by standing together as a unified group for "The Eyes," while we work through this issue. However, like all families who see the world through different lenses, we have plenty of work to do on this subject and will continue to do so, but rest assured, our student-athletes love and respect this University very much and are competing their hearts out for it.
  19. this result would be a disaster for the country. Too close. It needs to be a whipping otherwise it is going to be a shit show although on brand for 2020

  21. did I see a poll yesterday that had James within 1 of Peters? That is a pretty big difference. I assume based on the turnout prediction?
