  1. I wouldn’t put him on he level of Smart for sure. But Debour? Why not? He has some bad losses at bama too. And lost to OU twice. Sure he beat Georgia but has as many head scratching losses. not saying he isn’t better than Sark…but they’re in the same level imo. Smart since only one who’s unquestionably better than almost all others.
  2. I agree. And it’ll cause the most chaos. doubt a 1 loss tech who’s at 5 now, most likely, falls all the way out of the top 10. So that means one of OU/ND/Bama will. so OU does nothing to deserve a drop but does. or ND gets dropped when we all know they want them in the playoffs even without a schedule to deserve it. or Bama loses the CCG and gets punished for it causing that Game to be even more outdated and no one will want to play in it.
  3. The ONLY way Texas sneaks in is if BYU/Bama lose and they drop them both behind texas(and Texas jumps Miami as they should). That assumes they the committee would not see the “teams can’t drop by playing in the CCG” as a rule and more a guideline like the whole “tough OOC games won’t hurt you”. but honesty I want to see BYU win. Just for the chaos it’ll cause. They’ll have to be in and Tech won’t drop from 5 with 1 loss not to out completely. So one of OU/ND/Bama would drop to 11 and thus be kicked for the ACC/G5 champ. imagine the hoops to drop ND(we all know then won’t) or Bama(and throw out the CCG loser being left out) or even a higher ranked OU who did nothing to drop in the polls. we’d not only get a move to 16, but do away with the CCGs and tough OOC games going away all in one offseason maybe. 😂
  4. Oh…but was the sign wrong or…
  5. Also yes I think Bama should drop if they lose and have 3 losses. The whole “you can’t drop if you play in the CCG” is not a rule anymore than “not being penalized for tough OOC games” is. we’d have a stormy argument against them and should jump BYU/Miami anyways IMO.
  6. You know the more I think about this the more I think an even more hilarious result could happen. Wanna talk “chaos”? What happens if BYU wins? Tech won’t drop out being top 5/6 with only 1 loss now. And 11/12 are earmarked for the ACC/G5 champ(which is dumb we all agree). So who drops? #8 2 loss OU? #9 2 loss ND that no one here believes the committed will not have in the playoffs? Or #10 Bama(who I shouldn’t drop based on playing the SEC title game or so we’ve heard)? Talk about absolutely pandemonium if either other those 3 gets dropped. BUT the best thing is all the OU/Aggie fans crowing about how, even though we beat both, we’re sitting at home for the playoffs will be hilarious to throw in their face when/if OU is left out for BYU. So while I think the best result for Texas, is Bama/BYU losses to get an outside shot of getting placed at 10(not likely I know) over both. I think BYU winning would be the most crazy, realistic, thing to happen this weekend.
  7. ONLY 55? The scrimmage against Kids has us locked into the playoffs. Even after losing to Florida.
  8. Even without OSU we’d have a better resume than Bama. 2-2 vs top 10 teams. Both the wins over top 8 teams and the win over a common opponent they lost to at home. so we’d still be above them if played and beat wake forest instead of OSU. imo.
  9. It IS true then that loss matters the same amount as the Florida loss. There is no difference. and wining that game would make very little difference in our ranking as 2 loss team. We’d still have a home playoff game either way. beat OSU and lose to Florida it’s the same thing a drhe reverse. This comitiee has shown you the losses matter. Not the wins. Or even who you play.
  10. Same. Go to 16 and we keep being Texas and playing marquee matchups. if we lose 3 conference and ND, games we really don’t deserve it.
  11. Yes. All of them if the committee is going to treat them as the same losses as Florida. If you get 2 losses max then they should not be scheduling toss up games.
  12. Maybe but it’s not a better resume. Not close actually if you break it down Aggie for us and Georgia for them. We lost to Florida and them to FSU. they beat vandy and so did we. they loss to OU and we beat OU by double digits. They didn’t play OSU on top of all that. our resume is actually better. And I’ll contend if they lose to Georgia, That they should be in danger of falling out with 3 losses.
  13. Who’s saying auto loss? It’s a “potential” loss. No one is scared to play them, there is just not incentive too. And even if you lose to them That doesn’t mean you don’t deserve to make the playoffs for another chance to. and of course you can lose to anyone. But you’re much less likely to lose to Purdue than OSU and thus shouldn’t take that chance.
  14. That And change in scheduling will be impacted by Texas being left out.
  15. Texas with 2 conference losses will always make a 12-16 team playoff. Even with a joke non conference. Their commence schedule will be enough. Look at Aggie. Even if they had 2 losses with a shitty conference schedule they’d be in.
  16. Oh I’ve never disagreed with that. We all wanted to leave but it’s not becuse we wanted the SEC either. but we’re here now. Why make our post harder intentionally when there’s really no benefit? Beating OSU means the same as besting Florida. Both outcomes would have us with a first round home game.
  17. It’s not when we’re talking the future. do you not understand? My argument is we have to change it for the future until they expand the playoffs or account for those games as other then just plain losses.
  18. A four team playoff. We needed that data point. in 2025 we don’t. We just need less losses. Yes don’t lose to Florida but ALSO don’t schedule a potential loss. Not can be true.
  19. You’ve never heard me say the Florida loss is anything other than a. Travesty. but it wouldn’t fucking Matter if we payed Purdue and won instead. and yes we have to consider that. As much as I’d hate it.
  20. The point is we’d be in the playoffs. No matter what with two losses. and we’d be 2-2 be top 10 teams without OSU. And still have the best 2 loss resume. You understand that right? Playing OSU did noting for us.
  21. Which is why it would behoove the committee to take into account those games and the quality of opponents played win or lose. and they aren’t. We should not be behind Utah, BYU, Miami, Vandy, or ND and shouldn’t have been behind Michigan either. Even with 3 losses.
  22. Becuse it’s a fantasy to think that this wont be discussed, won’t be a factor moving forward. Indiana literally jettisoned anyone off their Schedule with a pulse so they never have to worry about a tough loss early. They can survive 2 conference losses. So can we. tech can survive one. I do not want to lose those marquee games. But until the System is fixed and/or expanded, it’s a stupid fucking decision to play those games.
  23. No ifs about making the fucking playoffs. And intentionally making your path harder, when you already have a daunting 9 game SEC conference schedule is not beneficial at all. yes they shouldn’t Los to Florida. No one debates that. But the also shouldn’t play OSU if they get no benefit from it win or lose.
  24. Flip OSU for Purdue and it’s the same fucking thing. both scenarios are true. Yep. And Texas should look at this year and know they are doing themselves a disservice by scheduling potential losses.
  25. I agree. And wish could still be true. and when it goes to 16 teams maybe it will. But in the 12 team playoff era it’s simply counter productive and irresponsible for us to play those game when there is no incentive. I agree, don’t play OSU OR lose to Florida and we’re in. why are you being so dense?
