    Bob Seger

In my mind, the ultimate is “Radar Love.” But this is a strong contender. Do we have a thread on ultimate driving songs? Perhaps we should. And don’t sleep on “Kathmandu” by Bob…………..

    Getting old sucks

Living with a loved one with expressive mental illness is probably the freshest hell on earth. Hang in there.
  3. No argument. Charley was exemplary. Ronnie was hired because he was Keef 2.0 and could handle Keef’s “guitar weaving” approach. Keef has plenty of tricks, but he’s not a particularly guitar proficient-what he has is an ear to keep things moving-while Mick does what he does-just being the world’s greatest front man in the world’s greatest RnR band.
  4. Just back from a 1 day nilgai hunt on the King Ranch; had lunch at Tucker’s BBQ in Raymondville on Friday. Bark cut off the brisket! Tasted like it was cooked too fast, too hot. Potato salad just meh. Broccoli “slaw” was interesting and pretty good. Do not recommend this place-Whataburger is less than a block away.
  5. Pork chop and (free) beans at Cooper’s in Llano. Only 2 things on the menu worth eating.
  6. I had a guitar teacher many years ago that was completely blind since birth; a piano tuner, too. He kept an (illegally short) 12 gauge next to the bed. Needless to say, his hearing was perfect. I wouldn’t bet against him for those first 2 rounds………
  7. And I cannot read the sonsabitches with polarized sunglasses on………
  8. I’ve drunk McM’s Longbranch (Wild Turkey) and it was quite palatable, but I’ve been a Wild Turkey drinker for 50 years. I saw Bob Dylan’s “Heaven’s Door” yesterday in a store, but decided I’d be embarrassed to actually buy it. Love the song, though. Any reviews by Surly?
  9. You work at a sale barn in East Texas?
  10. This. Glenwood Springs is a 2-3 hour visit. Depending on your interests, Santa Fe is a 1 day visit on your tight schedule. I’d stay at La Fonda (my oldest was probably conceived there) and then head to Taos for the day. Taos is the real Southwest, where Indian, Hispanic, and Anglo cultures meld and clash-it’s an edgy, vibrant place. Stay at the Taos Inn.
  11. Should have read on before commenting! The designer of the Mikkenger was supposedly an engineer (with TI, maybe) and the guns were essentially hand-built. Only one I’ve ever seen is a permanent fixture on some guy’s table at the F’burg and Kerrville gun shows. It’s a 7 1/2” .44 Mag. Beautifully built, probably only of interest to a collector of esoteric single actions, especially at the asking price-about like a Freedom Arms 83 in price. The gun show guy was a coworker and friend of the designer and claims fewer than 200 were built. Cool revolver.
  12. Moss berg/Abilene. Ended up paying royalties to Roger for using their transfer bar technology. Had 1 in .357; heavy, smooth, accurate. May have had another name or 2 before they disappeared.

Oh, it’s not Alzheimer’s if you misplace your car key; OTOH, if you can’t remember what a car key is for………………..
  14. Too much potassium is bad-arrhythmias, etc. Too much magnesium = colonoscopy prep, you mostly just blow it out. I take 1200 mg per day. Magnesium serum levels are essentially useless unless you’re a pregnant female or at end of life. Calcium high is problematic, keep your vitamin D up. No idea on hibiscus powder, offhand it sounds like another açaí berry marketing scam to me. Maybe not, data is inconsistent. Take it easy on the potassium, 99mg = 1 mEq per day, listen to your doc on that.
