  1. Jesus, in answering Nicodemus in John 3, outlines two fates: one for those who are saved, one for those who aren't saved. That's why recognizing Jesus is king and submitting in faith to His will is the most important thing one can do. However, the benefit of life isn't reaped only after you die- there is an inexplicable and unexplainable joy in submitting and having a personal relationship with the Lord. It's something I've found unable to replicate or come close to through any other experience in life. Wiser, richer, more accomplished people than myself have found the same. Jesus himself tells us in John 10:10 There's nothing that compares. It is real. It's why when I hear stories like yours, where they have sought after this but not been able to find it, I am especially heartbroken. I don't know your circumstances, what transpired, or why you didn't find what you were looking for but I have faith that Jesus's words are true when He says seek and you'll find, knock and the door will be open to you, so I pray that you will find that opened door.
  2. not austin, but blood bros in houston. it's the hopdoddy of bbq.
  3. really appreciate you explaining that, thanks. i obviously don't know why your experience differs from mine or others but i'm earnestly praying you do find what you were looking for in the person of Jesus. i know what you mean, and it's a common sentiment, but the church is the bride of Christ of which He is the head.
  4. you see what you want to see. not making fun of you or trying to offend- what were your expectations would happen afterward? what did you want to happen? asking because the act of turning to Jesus to have Him in your life is an act of surrendering control of your life over to Him. it signifies a realization that how we want to live our life is different from God's (wrong), that we submit to how God wants us to live, and that we are in need of forgiveness and completely powerless to effect change on our own. the resulting decision of that change of heart would be evidenced by new desires in the face of many constant failures to actually live that way.
  5. wu chow. you're not paying for the food, you're paying for the location and environment.
  6. not only great scapegoat fodder, it's an attempt at a gotcha moment you'd expect from a facebook post. for anyone who doesn't want to get lost in the technicalities of portfolio or margin risk you can just stop at this: in the UK insurance products and pension products are different, just like here. the funds that were in trouble yesterday were pension funds. the article posted above with the proposal to reduce the cash requirements of margin lending was specifically for insurance.
  7. leverage in the form of margin in itself isn't a bad thing. if done correctly it can help reduce the risk and volatility of a portfolio. those proposals haven't happened yet and frankly even if they had occurred wouldn't have been the reason behind the crisis. these pension funds were making bets against the uk gvt bonds moving in a big way in either direction. they were apparently irresponsibly leveraged to the point that when they needed to raise more cash they had to close these positions which moved the trade even more against them necessitating even more selling becoming a snowball effect.
  8. jeff heath gets a bum rap. he was put on an island way too much due to poor execution in front of him but he was usually in the right place. and i appreciate how he tried to wrap up instead of just throwing his body at the ballcarrier.
  9. our DTs played so well. the NYG OL is really bad though so i'm reluctant to come to any sort of definitive conclusion based on last night's performance.
  10. it's gonna be 102 in LA today in the valley.
  11. Huge hold to spring jones
  12. I dunno what lewis was supposed to do. He ran right at him
  13. Oops yeah diggs. Was talking about ceedee to my BIL at the same time.
  14. Shepard was fine til he left his feet and elbowed ceedee in the neck.
  15. One of the coaches is playing chess. The other has lost his marbles.
  16. Our offensive game plan has been fine. We're not doing asking coop to do anything he can't do while still putting ourselves in position to be up 2 possessions. We just haven't executed. These dumb penalties and drops are killing us.

    USMNT 2022

Christian Pulisic missed the United States' next-to-last warm-up match before the World Cup against Japan on Friday in Germany because of an unspecified injury. The U.S. Soccer Federation said Pulisic was out "because of a knock he took in training earlier this week." The USSF said it was too soon to determine whether he will be available for Tuesday's friendly against Saudi Arabia in Murcia, Spain.
  18. maybe you're speaking to specific circumstances but i 100% disagree on a macro level. we've been spraying money into every corner of the system for well over a decade and frankly i'm surprised more bubbles haven't burst sooner. there has to be a lot of wealth destroyed, not redeployed.

that was a pretty good showing by japan. we're lucky aaronsen didn't get hurt.
  20. I love fall. Making large batches of gumbo and pho. It's cool enough right?
  21. RF's last match is going to be doubles with Rafa at the Laver Cup. Normally participants have to play at least one singles match also but obviously since it's his tournament little waving that. From what I gather the match will start around 3pm Friday afternoon our time on the tennis channel.
  22. this is going to bring zero added interest. they should open it up to other leagues- ncaa teams, g league, mexican/canadian teams, maybe even wnba teams. none of these teams would stand a chance to win it all but in a single elim format it'd make for better entertainment than trying to manufacture some kind of importance out of a bunch of november games.
