Depends on if Bowman plays or not. Even then, I like our chances with Orlando against a true freshman QB.

Tech has won the last 2 of 3.      Hope for 11AM start in Lubbock,  definitely not a night game.

Boone deserves a ton of fucking blame, and the performance of the yankees' hitters has no bearing on that matter.  His lack of urgency changed both of the final two games.  Not subbing Walker for Andujar last night was also fucking stupid.  He's a clown.

    I miss ya' Joe !

  3. Though McClennan and San Jac have good programs,    somewhat disappointed that a D1 school was not scheduled in the Fall.

This was first year NCAA reinstated rule permitting Fall D1 games without affecting '19 schedule.    Not sure about other B12 teams,  but read that OU will play Arkansas and OkSt will play Vandy.

There is apparently a petition filed Winkler County where the Plaintiff claim to have made a diligent effort to locate the Defendants (mineral interest owners) and a receiver has been appointed.

I can sign and agreement and get paid something or potentially make and appearance in the case and try to negotiate with the Plaintiff.  Just trying to determine if it is worth my time.

Not sure of details,  but it seems you should be entitled to payment for past  mineral rights as well as future.

Definitely worth your time.   Unless you need cash,  would recommend not selling mineral rights in the Permian Basin.

Anyways, one of the few things I can easily do on my car is change the oil and I have been doing so for quite some time.  I've always used Mobil1 (purchased at Costco) and Purolator filters when changing the oil on my 2013 Tahoe.  I've just recently cross 100K miles.  At what point should I think about transitioning to a different type of oil (high mileage or any other type)?  Any need to think about different filters?

Mobil 1 has a high mileage version.    With the improvement in oil, may just be marketing.   If Costco does not have,  Walmart does.

I prefer the AC Delco (GM) oil filter.

Texas and USC will face off for Round 2 of the home-and-home series. The Longhorns were unable to do enough to walk away from the Coliseum with a W after last year's double overtime thriller, but will have a chance to avenge themselves against the Trojans this Saturday. Horns247 caught up with USCFootball.com beat reporter Dan Webber to get his take on where things stand with USC.

Q: How big of a concern is it for the Trojans that they were unable to score a touchdown against Stanford?

A: Was it a concern when the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, which by the way had not happened the last time that USC did not score a touchdown against Stanford. So yeah, that's a big deal. USC stalling drives in plus-territory is becoming a real drag. How someone always commits a penalty, misses a block and they're forced to scramble happened against UNLV when the first five trips into or near the red zone produced five field goals. And then Saturday was a disaster. Five opportunities to score on Stanford, one field goal. There's a lack of confidence in this USC offense that's becoming contagious. They can't let it continue another game.

Q: Whether fair or not, it seems JT Daniels is getting a lot of the blame for the offensive performance against the Cardinal. How much of an impact did his play make on the outcome of the game, and what does he need to work on ahead of Saturday’s game?

A: Anybody blaming JT just displays his or her ignorance. The kid badly bruised his throwing hand on the first series and came back after X-rays and played like a trooper despite terrible protection. He completed 16 passes, same as Stanford's KJ Costello who received so much praise for his performance, for more yards (215 to 182) and did not get great support from his pass-dropping receivers. Kid is very talented. Has a great head on his shoulders. Did he make a bad throw and a bad read or two? You bet. Was he a bit "happy-footed" in the pocket at times? Of course. You would be too. The times he stood in there he got sacked. He'll be fine. Give him any time and he'll get the ball to his receivers. What he had to do against Stanford was guess who would be open on his first read since he mostly didn't have time to get to the second and third ones. Give him the time to do that and he will pick you apart.

Q: What is the biggest question mark on the USC two-deep entering the Texas game?

A: Tight end maybe. Josh Falo returns to give USC three there but this has not been a productive spot with the first two. Or maybe safety. USC has lost three in just over two weeks for all sorts of reasons including two fighting for an original starting spot so now there are three left with an additional converted freshman corner.

Q: Where do you feel the Trojans will have the edge over the Longhorns? Where do you feel they are at a disadvantage?

A: USC's roster probably has more overall talent, if there's a value in that. According to recruiting rankings, USC's roster is right around third in the nation behind Alabama and Ohio State and maybe right with Georgia and Clemson in the five classes making up this roster. But they don't play like it yet. They don't have that confidence and swagger that Pete Carroll's teams did going on the road for a big game that brought out the best in them. Do that and good things happen. We haven't seen it that often under Clay Helton. Texas' best edge, you'd think, would be watching last year's game. The Longhorns should have won. They played a heck of a game. Really came after USC. Just left it close enough for Sam Darnold to perform his magic at the end. But that Texas defense handled USC for most of the game. Their physicality was impressive. Not sure they played that way most of the rest of the way last season but if they give that effort, they'll make it tough on USC.

Q: Prediction: What do you think will be the outcome of Saturday’s game?

A: Please don't take this the wrong way but I'm no longer in the business of predicting what this USC team is going to do -- especially on the road. I can easily make a case for how they win Saturday. And just as easily make the case for why they don't win. And I get to see practice every week. Does JT arrive this week? Do the USC coaches figure it out on offense? Does the USC O-line do the same? Does a decent defense keep giving up explosive plays? I do think the outcome will be determined by USC, good or bad. But have no idea how that will happen. Just how it could happen. And that doesn't help me make the pick here.

  8. Coach Clay Helton said Sunday night that Daniels had an MRI exam on the hand, which showed the injury was only a bruise.

Helton said Daniels’ hand was sore Sunday but the coach was optimistic about the quarterback’s availability for Texas.

Helton said USC will be without starting strong safety Isaiah Pola-Mao against Texas and possibly longer. Pola-Mao dislocated a shoulder in the first half against Stanford.

  9. More on Scott.    Scott is one of the most congenial persons I have met.   Treats everyone with respect and never forgets your name.    iirc,  he retired about 4-5 years ago from a position as an attorney for a health insurance company in Austin.      He told me the company worked with him on his work schedule to be able to attend games.    Great guy !

Scott’s streak: Texas fan Scott Wilson was recognized in the second quarter for attending his 500th straight Longhorns game. The 500-game streak takes the Austin resident back to a 30-14 win at SMU … in 1977.

As dedicated as Wilson has been to the football team, this 500-game streak may not be his most impressive run with one of UT’s athletic programs. Wilson has attended every baseball game Texas has played since April 8, 2000. He will enter this spring with a 1,175-game streak.

Casey has pulled some form of this multiple times at Oregon.   During the summer he would drop off the radar and not communicate with the school.  I doubt Casey was ever seriously considered for the Texas job because of this trait.

petscii,   iirc don't you live in the Northwest  ?        Any idea of why other than as you state above he marches to the beat of his own drum ?    Regardless,  a helluva' baseball coach -  college baseball will miss him.

Nate Yeskie,  the pitching coach,  is one of the most respected in the NCAA.    He will receive multiple offers as he has in the past,  some to be head coach.

Lot of money to leave on the table.

The OSU baseball coach now has a deal that runs through the 2022 season, according to the contact obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive. Casey, who won two College World Series titles at OSU in 2006 and 2007, is set to make at least $5.5 million over the next six years.

The 57-year-old has been given a $50,000 raise for each of the remaining four years on the deal, earning $800,000 for the coming year, $850,000 in 2018, $900,000 in 2019 and $950,000 in 2020. His annual salary will increase by another $50,000 over each of the next two years of the extension, concluding at $1.05 million in the final year

The extension, which Casey signed in July, came after the University of Texas pursued him for its vacant head coaching position in June. Casey interviewed and said he was offered the job but did not accept. In a June interview with The Oregonian/OregonLive, he declined to discuss a potential contract extension or raise but said anything he and Stansbury may do "doesn't have anything to do with the University of Texas."

  11. Very surprised about Casey.   59 is very young to retire.     One of the greats, won back to back CWS championships in '06 and '07.   Augie once mentioned that was a goal he did not attain.

    Excerpts:

Pat Casey retired on Thursday. I think. But he sounded so conflicted, let's call it a sabbatical, for now.

After 24 seasons as the head baseball coach at Oregon State, and 900 victories, Casey sounded as if he's had enough. He pointed out how weary he is. He talked about how unsure he is that he can still give the kind of effort he demands of his players. The guy with three national championships at a place that had no history and obvious challenges joked about handing notes through the fence to interim coach and long-time assistant Pat Bailey next season.

"If it isn't right," Casey, just 59 years old, said of retirement, "I'm sure I can get back in the game... I'm not smart enough to tell you if the decision is the absolutely right decision."

    Two immediate takeaways:

    A) Casey LOVES coaching. You can hear it in his voice. The profession has become a year-round grind. Between recruiting, fundraising, the media, navigating university politics, the regular season and playing a long postseason, it's pretty much a 12-month endeavor. I recently read a book titled, "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a (bleep)." I'm thinking Casey might pick it up and make a quick retirement realization.

The author, Mark Manson, writes, "No matter where you go, there's a five-hundred-pound load of (manure) waiting for you. And that's perfectly fine. The point isn't to get away from the (manure). The point is to find the (manure) you enjoy dealing with."

So I'm thinking that Casey is going to be called upon to shake hands and help raise funds and attend banquet dinners. But as Casey pointed out, "they can dress me up however they like, but I'm still a coach." In that, at some point Casey will realize that his pile of (manure) was a more enjoyable pile than the one he gets to deal with while wearing a dress shirt and tie in some other university capacity.

    B) Casey is drained. He's weary. That's how he arrives at the end of every baseball season. It's who he is and what he does. This isn't the first time Casey has arrived at the end of a baseball season and thought about hanging it up. In fact, prior athletic directors mostly waved him off and told him to come back a few weeks later. But this is the first time Casey has gone public with it.

It's always advisable to not make a decision when you're tired, and in the sports world, never at the end of the season. I think Casey needed a few weeks of more distance from what was a long, draining, successful baseball season. Maybe what he really needs is a year off without the pressures. It's why I found the appointment of Bailey as his "interim" successor as an interesting choice. Oregon State may be leaving the door open there. The plan, I'm told is one year with Bailey as the interim coach and then a national search. Wonder if search results in Casey being re-hired?

But what we have here is a conflicted human being. He contradicted himself, at times, on Thursday. He sounded like he was alternately finished, and then, candidly and beautifully unsure about it all. Maybe he's making a terrible mistake. Maybe he'll make a comeback after a season off. Maybe he won't. But what was clear on Thursday was how draining coaching can be, even on the soul of a guy who won a pile of games.

"I have no oceans to sail. I have no mountains to climb. I have no hobbies. I don't know what in the hell I'm going to do," Casey said.

fwiw,  Scipio stated Porter was in on the 2 minute offense for his blocking ability/recognize blitz to protect Sam.  (Scipio interview yesterday,  104.9, Chad and Kevin).

Should be noted that Maryland only rushed 3 with a spy linebacker.
