I'm not convinced all Dems enjoy being in the majority.
I'm also not convinced Biden totally grasps the threat Republicans on the state-level currently present to democracy. Maybe Clyburn can give him a nudge, he owes him.
My point is, it starts at the top. Sinema is a sociopath and Manchin has a crush on Susan Collins. But I believe both fall in line if Biden told them to.
Nice little read on what exactly is in HR1 and its constitutionality. This is undoubtedly the most consequential piece of legislation currently in Congress. I'm convinced Biden could send $20k checks to every American, yet the Dems could still get gerrymandered/voter suppressioned out of the majority in both the House & Senate if HR1 is not passed immediately. Some of these reforms are going to take time to be implemented, if you wait until next year, it will be too late for the midterms. Gotta act fast.
Besides Marie Yovanovitch and a few others, I find myself consistently disappointed with white women on both sides of the aisle over the last four plus years.
I think they are setting the stage for it. Last week, Amy Klob came out against the filibuster. Now, the junior senator from Minnesota has done the same.
Nah you blow your wad now during the Honeymoon period. Everybody starts worrying about reelection by the winter so you don’t really have a full 2 years.
The only way he loses is if he doesn't get something done. Overrule and negotiate w/ the two senators on a lower amount or longer phase-in period. I am not against an incremental approach. I'm against them doing nothing, which will lead to more disaffected voters, and the terrorists getting back in charge in 2 years.
Sounds like they have options but are refusing to go down that route of leaning on two Dem senators and calling their bluff. Biden already said he would not have Harris overrule the parliamentarian even before Manchin/Sinema went on the record. So a feckless position was already in the works.
If you want Dems to maintain control for a full 4 years, I suggest you wake up and read the room - people didn't vote in mass in the middle of a pandemic and scorched earth voter suppression to have the Dems throw their hands up in the air over a rule that .0007% of the population is aware of. Good luck selling that in '22.
He had a rep w/ the Cowboys for being a bit stand offish with everyone, media and teammates. Not sure why they thought he was going to be some captivating salesman for them. That's not his personality.
