  1. 6 or more was in reference in to the stupid post and bet made by a Surly whiner at the beginning of the season.
  2. Just so I can get my boxscore scoring correct... Horns have scored 6 or more runs in the last 7 out of 8 games. But those runs AND games don't count right ? ( you would think that 15 runs against ANYONE would at least count for one 6 run win 🤣) Better competition is on the horizon, but there is something about confidence and streaks when dealing with the cruel mistress of Baseball. Keep it going guys!! 🤘🤘
  3. These games don’t count right [emoji2371]?? [emoji23]
  4. No doubt 👆. But last years schedule was really over the top. I get that you want good competition, but that always doesn't get you good playing time for your non-starters. They can miss out on some valuable game situations and experience playing those bigger schools cuz you're trying to get that RPI up (I feel that RPI should include some games that a program could drop or not count against them). This year's schedule is definitely not as top heavy, and while they are lesser schools/programs, with our weather ( especially this yr) it's easy to forget that there is still plenty of snow north of the Red River, and northern schools are trying to get in as many games as possible and against quality (and historic, if possible) teams. Manhattan is definitely at a different level than us, but those kids now have a lifelong memory of coming to Austin (getting great weather) and playing a series against a 6x National Champion in a park that is surely much bigger than what they may be used too. I was at all three games and while they had their mistakes, great plays or hits were recognized by the TEXAS fan base. Schools build their programs by seeking out these type of series or even single games.
  5. All good. My post wasn't meant to be a disagreement of yours.
  6. He showed that last year and is doing it again this year. He starts fading in the 4th or 5th inning and then starts throwing BP. He should be moved to a middle reliever role or an inning or two late.
  7. Sam has had a decent or very good baseball program since the 70's-80's. They get a lot of kids that do not qualify for the bigger schools (grades or just overlooked) and do well there. Usually at least 2 or more good starters and guys that can hit the ball. Not dissing them, but they are a 4 yr JUCO with players similar to those that go to San Jac or Blinn (both very good baseball schools. Texas State has done well with their program but there is a lot of competition locally for students/talent that they would attract to go elsewhere. Air Force was decent last year but still needed some late magic to just get in the tourney. Losing Skenes did not help. This year, they are not very good.
  8. Was just going to post this... got the email last night, but just now saw it. Doesn't make sense in him being gone. 😢
  9. This was played at his funeral service. It was nice to see Ben and Liz rocking to the beat in their chairs, singing along, & with occasional smiles while it played. 😢
  10. 14 hits and only 4 runs? That's NEVER good. And easy way to judge a team is to look at their record in one run ballgames. Through 11 games we are 0-4 in those , and we have two other games lost by two runs. Might want to have plenty of booze on hand and your blood pressure meds handy if you're going to continue to follow.
  11. Just devastating. Ben and Liz have been friends/clients of my wife for a number of years as they have trained at her fitness studio. The boys, especially Dorian, are a great mix of their parents. Just a well spoken, friendly kid that didn't know a stranger. He was good and respectful to EVERYONE. My wife is still not dealing with his death well and trying to understand it. And as said/asked above, it was a single car accident. From what was told to my wife, Dorian was driving on the road to their house and an oncoming vehicle came into his lane. He swerved to miss it and hit a tree that was down from the freeze. We attended his memorial service on Friday and it was beautiful. Not sure how many were there but the cars parked on the road stretched for at least a couple of miles (he was buried on their ranch property). You could tell his impact he had on others by how many of his classmates and parents from DSHS were there. Dorian was to have his own set at this year's SXSW. There is also a gofund me page if you should want to contribute to his memorial. gofundme.com/Doriankweller
  12. Unfortunate for Duplantier (AGAIN) to give that pitch up and the resulting BOMB/no doubter. I found it more concerning last night ( and still today), though with Stuart not being able to find the strike zone with his first two batters and giving up the walks. If not for the check swing strike with his first pitch to Neal, he would have thrown 8 straight balls. Instead it was 9 out of 10, with another ball to Nippolt (3rd in the inning) before getting him to foul a couple off and getting a K. Not exactly the result you want from a reliever in the late innings, especially with the game tied 0-0 in the 9th. Someone has been spoiled. Dude is a true freshman out there. Same on the other corner. There was a guy here, that the job was basically his, and because he didn't get enough playing time last year (due to the Golden Spikes POY playing in front of him) he chose to leave and get Raider rash in Lubbock. Melendez had to wait (and learn) to get better because of Zubia. Zubia made great improvement in his Jr and Sr years. Before that, he was brutal in the field. Foot work sucked and he had trouble with low or errant throws. Last night with the scoop that he missed, it was a shitty throw from delayed, extra step throw from Jalin that he missed and was not an easy pick. (My seat is right in line from the mound/3rd base to 1st base) We have 19 new players on the roster this year, being transfers, JUCO, or freshmen. Some of those freshmen are going to play and are going to have to learn (like Zubia did) that the college game is a different level. We had a total of 4 hits last night, same as #1 LSU in a nice throw back game of college pitching. One of those hits (1-3) was by your JV first baseman.
  13. I’m in BFE Texas at a cousin’s funeral service right now. If anyone wants two tickets to today’s game PM me. Cell is spotty but I’ll try and respond to get the tickets transferred
  14. JFC ! what a freaking clown show. Trying to be more and more like the REAL service academies. Actually surprised that video didn't state (again) how they single handily won WWII.
  15. Soooo, pretty much any day of the week?
  16. So does a Tuesday night win (winning 12-1) count as a six run win? Asking for a friend 😝
  17. He did NOTHING with his at bats. In fact, he was overwhelmed in most. Some guys don't like competition. GL at Tech and Raider rash.
  18. I pretty much told him the same thing yesterday... (top of #2187)
  19. NIL is nothing but free agency College sports on steroids. I really wanted Skenes to come here ( and seeing our atmosphere here in multiple games no doubt influenced him in his decision in using his option to transfer) but once he announced, there was other schools that threw everything at him, LSU (where he went) especially. We've had plenty of prima donnas ( not saying this particularly about Skenes) come here and not produce or live up to their billing, You have to want to come here to compete against the best, and a lot of times that means you ARE COMPETING for a starting spot in the lineup. This is still college baseball and guys want (need) to go where they can not only play but also start. NIL has upped that x10 fold. And scoring 6 runs or more in baseball doesn't f*cking matter, you only need to win by one run. This park especially, was built around pitching and even though the first thing Pierce did here, even before he coached first game, he moved the fences in. The Disch is still a pitcher's ballpark. Get the right guys on the mound and you don't need 6 runs. And your comment is still one of the stupidest here, not dumb.
  20. CWS every year? Tell me you know nothing about baseball (especially COLLEGE Baseball) without saying you know nothing about College Baseball. Congrats, that is one of the STUPIDEST comments I have ever seen on Shaggyx2,... now Surly. Never to 6 or more....🤣
  21. Was just coming here to post this. RIP Mr Lee
  22. And just prior to that, they were $75. I started with one of those in 2017 before getting my seats in R2.
  23. I love UT baseball and have been going to games here since before the Disch was built but those people are in for an awakening if they think they're going to make money on the secondary market for TX Baseball( especially if they think they are going to cover a season ticket cost 🤣). I may be wrong but that hasn't happened all that much even when we've hosted a Regional or Supers. It's OUTSIDE and per my post above, the weather isn't always (ie. hardly ever) accommodating to being comfortable. Games this year that will actually be full or SRO IMO.... Texas St midweek game and the Friday Night games against Tech, Baylor, Okie Lite, and Blow U (maybe WV due to late in the season). Maybe the Saturday games get close to full but Austin and UT fans are finicky when there are other things to do on the weekend with the weather being nice. LSU if it was a weekend late but it is early and it's a Tuesday night game. Sorry not sorry, hopefully this is a one time deal, or we will need to EXPAND seating permanently and quickly (should be likely anyway going into SEC. ARKY and a few others pack them in). See ya at the games. The Road to Omaha starts next Friday! 🤘
  24. No. Pretty sure that has NEVER happened before. I'm wondering if CDC is actually correct on his tweet. That's BS if they did sell season tickets to the agencies. Not a way to build up the family/casual fan base. Midweek games (other than TXSt or aggy) are never at capacity. I did notice when it was my time to upgrade my tickets if I wanted too, they did have a complete section down the left field line (can't remember for right) that was entirely a student section only. For a few games last year that were known SRO beforehand, they brought in temporary bleachers on the left field walk area in front of the food trucks. They actually had a really good sightline. If they truly are sold out this year for big series or midweek games, they need to do that again.
