  1. Yeah I’m not interested in having the 24/7 news stations try and report on surly: “well Rachel, what we have found is some really horrifying and disturbing shit. They are harboring a serial lake killer. They had a rock throwing pedo on their site. They have a thread exclusively degrading and rating their sexual conquests, something called IPIHB where they advocate peeing in people’s asses. They watch furry porn. They actively encourage fatwas on former coaches. They hate the only coach in 35 years who gave them a MNC. Their game threads are like watching two hobos fuck in a rail car even when they are winning their games. They have something called a cloak room where the most common emoji used is a middle finger. The site’s owner repeatedly tells them to act like human beings and they scoff at him even though he digs deep into his own pockets to feed their ungrateful asses at tailgates. In short they are proud of being a palace of degenerates. Nuking the site from orbit won’t fix it. They have assholes all over the globe. One who cosplays as Ted Cruz. Oh the humanity.” I clean up my own messes. We don’t need this kind of scrutiny from the media. Do better fucksticks. Don’t make our site get described to boomers on the television in a two minute segment.
  2. I gotta say their offense looks really similar to ours. Right down to the red zone woes. If they can figure that out with the studs they drafted in defense who are starting to gel they will be a tough team to beat. Penix is more than capable and the speed he gets the ball out is amazing. Yeah I realize he’s older than most of the 2nd year QBs. But we seen how he can put on a clinic
  3. You guys are gonna give Imma an idea. Like how X charges you for a checkmark so you can post more words. No checkmark and you are limited to so many characters. Think of us who do not have the gift of brevity man. Where is your humanity?
  4. Joe burrow is snake bit. I really can’t see it any other way. It stinks bc he is fun to watch and for me easy to route for and it’s like injury every fucking year. At least they have a good backup and are starting actually 2-0 for fucking once. Hope they can find a way to figure it out. Damn.
  5. You need to get the whole book collection. It’s a game changer! It’s great for kids.
  6. And posts like this one are why I can’t quit this place. 😂 y’all are all safe from me. ❤️❤️❤️
  7. Holy shit. Back when I used to drink I would have posted some nudes. There was one night in particular I was feeling foxy. Thank goodness I didn’t do that. Lmao.
  8. Gotcha sorry. That came from NBC. I follow crime as everyone already knows. On a completely different forum from this one and I’m not interested in Republicans BS or Democrat BS or Liberal BS or Conservative BS. I’m only interested in what makes murderers like him tick. How did a kid who was seemingly well cared for and given many creature comforts decide to kill someone else for no reason. That’s what interests me. I’ve been pretty consistent in this my whole time in the nearly 13 or so years I’ve been affiliated with shaggy and now surly. I’ve always been and always be fascinated by true crime. I want to know why. I want to know how to stop it. and I need to find the source and post that. It was in reference to his roommate turning the shooter in. I thought it was interesting that the shooter engraved a furry phrase on a bullet casing and the MN Catholic school shooter was part of the furry community or the shooters romantic partner was. I was curious if there was an online community of furries and a contingent of them who may have violent tendencies. That’s probably a stretch but I am chasing down that kind of stuff because that’s what I do in the true crime forum I am on. Maybe surly isn’t the best place for that since it’s become more about strong arming people’s opinions onto others. As opposed to having discussions. Just brow beating and name calling. And echo chambers. To pander to a bunch of men who couldn’t take me in a kick boxing class. lol. 😂
  9. I don’t recall trying to white washing him or singing his praises. I never posted about him before this and I’m not trying to get people to see him as a savior or a hero, like some others may be doing. I’m not trying to make him be something simply because he was assassinated or killed. Though it’s common to see someone taken untimely and eulogize them. It happens all the time, I watched a few videos after his assassination and the ALL the newd coverage of it until it made me sad to watch any more of it. But he he talked about family a lot. And the importance of family. That’s what I got from it. i am not a mind reader nor in his heart, he wasn’t someone I followed but I knew who he was but really didn’t pay too much attention to him until he was killed, He can be a POS and as you say celebrating his demise is wrong as is causing violence in his name and telling people to burn down the world bc he was killed. Both things are wrong.
  10. Bunch of lawyers who secretly want to be English teachers. Maybe that will change the world. All these Surlies so concerned with grammar give up their useless lawyering and become school teachers. Teaching grammar. The online community will make them Gods for doing this. 😂
  11. This. I’m not advocating Sark be fired. I was providing historical evidence that all HCs who are also the primary OC eventually end up being fired. And that will happen to sark if the offensive woes continue and I see no reason to believe the woes will cease. Arch or no Arch. Sark will eventually be forced to hire an OC or he will be gone at some point. And I hope he unstubborns his own ass and gets into the fucking booth so that doesn’t happen or relinquishes most OC stuff to a good designated OC. History tells the tale of where this is headed. Sark should know. He’s already failed twice at HC out west and the same problems are here again also. It wasn’t solely to do with his sobriety. im not advocating he be fired but he needs to learn from his previous mistakes and see what’s happening and make changes so the Big Money Donors don’t get antsy in the next two years and take the decision out of sarks hands. Which almost none of us want to have happen. I want him to stay but he needs to pull his head out of his ass. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results is insanity and he absolutely should know this. He’s been given the ability to go and get any player he wants cuz we don’t have a cash problem. He’s never had that true ability as a HC at his previous HC stints bc there wasn’t NIL. He has every resource to make this the most feared offense in CFB so why isn’t it then?
  12. I made the critical error yesterday of saying something similar about Sark. I shouldn’t have posted it. I don’t think unless we have real evidence of something affecting someone’s ability to do their job or to perform their role as a player should be talked about. My apologies for insinuating the same of Sark. Those things are hurtful. I think Arch is just trying to be a young man like everyone else, like his brother, and he has the weight of the world on his shoulders. I just wish those insiders who clearly spoke to a “bad week of practice that spilled onto the football field” for the game yesterday would provide more details. what I posted was wrong in the game thread and it was reposted a bunch even tho I did delete my post. I put out something that is just a rumor without proof and I deserved my licks for that. I can do better. it’s also not as if other players didn’t or don’t also party if that is indeed the case. I’ve never heard anything other about Arch other than he takes all of this very seriously. If that turns out not to be the case so be it. but that was my big knock on Ewers that when he came in he wasn’t “into the playbook” and most everyone absolutely flaming Arch now didn’t seem to have a problem with Ewers possibly not taking it all seriously when he first came here. In fact the exact opposite was said like “you can’t blame the guy” for not being into the playbook bc he’s a big stud on campus. Can’t have it both ways I guess. The truth is if his play was better no one would give a shit if Arch partied or not. I think he’s just trying to grow into those very very big shoes that have been telegraphed on him for his whole life. Jmo.
  13. You’re a very good friend. I struggle with the DP all the time, it’s hard for me to accept that putting someone to death is the answer. But I think the DP is a good bargaining chip to get people to plead guilty. Most people like Kohberger and this assassin don’t want to actually die, they are fucking cowards and would shit their pants. I’ve said that the DP was tailor made for someone like Bryan Kohberger. If he doesn’t deserve to die with pain and fear and terror than damn…because he does but I guess I’m softening as I grow older. I just don’t think putting people to death fixes anything other than an eye for eye sort of justice type thing. So while I respect in particular the rights of the victims families —I personally have changed my mind as it applies to most murder cases. Except I do think it is warranted when a convicted murderer continues to be a threat behind bars. I personally would prefer to use the considerable amount of money that goes into death penalty cases and appeals and apply those resources towards stopping the next killer and trying to prevent the rise of more like him. But that’s just me.
  14. Two is most definitely true. I think the jury is sadly still out on your first point bc of his play yesterday in particular. We don’t know what happened in fucking practice this past week and I sure wish those making statements about it would add some more clarity to what happened. Sark’s defensiveness about an “injury” to Arch makes people think Three still is in play. Does it happen that everyone is wrong about a particular player? Yeah. But I truly from the bottom of my heart do not believe that people are wrong about arch. I look at what happened to Ewers and how he was broken down and he wasn’t truly built back up and that is in sark. So I think your second point is the answer at least since we now have five years to look at and I’ll be damned if his stints at USC and Washington aren’t omens for where we are now. My two cents, good post above.
  15. Can we also add a question for the board about whether or not Sark either needs to be in the booth if he stubbornly refuses to give up play calling? Or a question about whether or not he needs to hire a real OC and focus on being the HC? I just never see him giving this up and doing the same thing and expecting different results but I think it would be interesting from a POLL perspective where the surly collective is. Bc even if Arch is replaced I don’t see our offensive woes improving, sorry I do not. Maybe we get better play if Arch ain’t the guy but at the end of the day we have had the same offensive coordinator for 5 years in Sark and the offensive is his thing and it looks bad. And it’s not just this year, the defense on the other hand looks great. Does sark truly not see this?
  16. I like Derka. But I think the main topic here outside of talking about Charlie Kirk’s killer and how we can possibly stop future assassinations is the topic of: is it ok to celebrate Charlie Kirk’s murder? And I can’t believe the answer isn’t basically a resounding no save a few fringe lunatics. That’s my whole deal. I don’t know what his family or most particularly his widow will feel about whether or not the state of Utah seeks the death penalty but the governor said he would absolutely take in the family’s input. In other words if she doesn’t want the DP pursued they won’t do it. I’d like to think after listening to a couple of Kirk’s videos of his events that she would not want to take a kid from his parents. No matter how deplorable he may be. I won’t judge her if she wants the DP but I’d like to think that she won’t want it pursued. Kirk’s biggest thing was the family. And how important a family was. In particular how important fathers were. And the assassin took a father away from his family. The main thing Kirk said he cared about most of all outside of his faith. So if after the dust settles and all the investigation stuff is done into the assassin and his “motive” maybe she will decide that just because this asshole took her husband cruelly from her family that she cannot take him from his parents. Particularly a parent who did the RIGHT thing by turning his son in and he was faced with an impossible choice. But he still did the right thing. Knowing the DP would absolutely be in play when he turned his son in. Despite as reports have suggested his son said he would kill himself if his father did that. A very scary choice and he made the right one. I don’t think she will want the DP but I won’t judge her if she does.
  17. I’m just merely pointing out that a majority of people whether they identify as conservative or liberal see things very differently when it comes to online speech. For the most part I’m agnostic politically. I see flaws in both parties. I see flaws. So I don’t take my marching orders from anyone. I seek to better understand. I make mistakes all the time but I pride myself on trying to get to the heart of why people say what they do or think what they think. I often misinterpret what others say. So I try very hard to make sure that I understand where they are coming from. I don’t know if you put much stock in Pew Research. My understanding was that they are non partisan. But I found their research into how people on both sides of the political spectrum view online comments and how they should be dealt with far differently. screenshots are comments from a project Pew did about a decade ago and it seems just as relevant today. Those are from their site. I am also linking the article. People see things way differently. And it explains a lot about where we are today imo. My opinions constantly evolve. But the idea I have to endorse a particular idea or opinion or “popular groupthink” or I’m a bad person with bad intentions is where I wholeheartedly disagree. I seek to understand and I absolutely try to the best of my abilities to be mindful that many of my privately held opinions are not shared and I do try very hard to not be offensive. Aggravating sure, but I do try very hard to be respectful with most everyone I encounter online and in person. Even if I 100% think they are wrong. Most people aren’t bad people. But the idea we can only think one way or have opinions one way is what is wrong and bad. My opinions constantly evolve. Constantly. history tells the tale. We could have been all wrong about something that has happened in the last 25 years and later learn we were 100 wrong and destroyed others because of being wrong. Happens all the time,
  18. Very well said. What is the tipping point? Because no one of us wants to live in some Minority Report type thing where a kid is just pissed off fires off something in a chat or whatever and has FBi crawling up their asses. These kids legit idolize what the other ones of them have done and try to improve on it. Maybe flagging searchers for other shooters and combining it with other internet activity MIGHT be helpful and just monitoring it. But even then it’s not full proof just like how FBI profiles can be wrong as fuck (my friend murdered by the Baton Rouge serial killer everyone thought was a white male bc of the profile and completely ignored the massive red flags and observations of other local parish LE about Derrick Todd Lee, a black serial killer bc he didn’t fit the white male orofile)
  19. I may steal apples to assholes. So are you saying no one was fired for speech during the Biden or Obama administrations for their beliefs or if they were it was deserved bc all of those fired were in the wrong? All those cancelled were in the wrong? I don’t want to misinterpret what you said. And I type in stream of consciousness that aggravates everyone. And often times bc of that I’m misunderstood but that’s a me thing. Not the reader’s fault.
  20. Yeah that kid has zero empathy nor sympathy. Sociopath is correct. I just wonder if they are all sociopaths bc the evidence seems to be somewhat overwhelming that they are. He’s a hate filled asshole. But like was he born without empathy or sympathy? Or did he just gradually become that way? Was the kid smiling (kinda) in that nicely furnished dorm room already feeling homicidal? Or is it that he could never assimilate? Once high school was over just wanted to sleep late and be online 24/7. He was absolutely giddy thinking he got away with this and also checking to see what people thought. Must have been a real surreal moment for him when his father confronted his ass. And saw behind the mask of who his son was pretending to be?
  21. This I think is what I’m profoundly interested in. The shooters no matter their home life are almost the exact same person, despite politics or religion or whatever else. They are the same person over and over again. And how do we stop that shit. The thing is too many soft targets for those fucks to go after on both sides of the aisle and I want to know how they become so angry that they do this shit. And if there is some kind of tipping point where we can intervene before it leads to someone else being callously murdered. Or I’m just an idealist here.
  22. That shit has been happening as far back as the early 2000’s. Bill Maher was kicked off ABC for saying the 9/11 terrorists weren’t cowards. Even though he left an empty seat for a regular conservative contributor who died on one of the planes that day, it’s been going on for a long time. People being fired and disciplined or put on leave for making statements that don’t match the narrative of the current party/administration in power. That’s a both sides kind of “thing.” I should also mention his roommate is a hero who helped LE as well. And this is not being said. I’m still kinda fascinated with the furry thing. Also his roomie appears to either be a furry or a mascot. People were saying that the assassin dropped out of school after only one semester. I don’t know if that’s true but it tracks with these shooters. They don’t want to work in the real world or can’t bc of whatever reason. Just to hang out online and collect grievances and get angrier and angrier. This kid had a fairly decent sized friend group he was regularly in contact with. But what’s he been up to since high school? No idea but a lot of these young male shooters are similar in that regard. Not much since high school. No real effort to integrate into life. Picture of furry/mascot roommate. That culture of furries fascinates me.
  23. Also the thing is: OCs that are good usually get poached by either the NFL or to be a HC of a college team. So most of the good teams don’t have the same OC consistency year over year. We are in year five of sark and the offense looks like he just got promoted from WR coach to OC and is on a learning curve. Our team hasn’t had to learn a new system. Or a ton of new shit like other teams. Arch’s play has not helped at all but the evidence has been staring is overwhelmingly in the face for the last couple of years that Sark cannot do both. He thinks he can. This year might be a watershed moment for him. Because if Arch cannot bail him out the focus will be on him like a laser as well.
