  1. They could have tossed her a bone and let her jump like a porpoise ahead of the carrier’s bow or something.
  2. I don’t think it was a lack of trust leading to turtling. I don’t think Tom fully understood, or maybe still doesn’t understand, that the traditional rules of playing with a lead in this conference were skewed by the fact that the league was chock full of hyper offenses that didn’t give a shit about TOP, and who were looking to score at every opportunity. He made some mention of it in the press conference so perhaps it’s starting to take hold. He’s going to be aided this year by the fact that KK is out at Tech, Holgerson is gone at WVU, Klieman still runs a Jurassic offense and ISU and TCU don’t run the hyper spread. That leaves OSU and OU who doesn’t have a very hyper spread friendly QB in Hurts. So his original philosophy ought to age better this season. Herman isn’t alone in having to adjust to Big XII offensive football by a long shot. But he does need to continue to grow his philosophies in light of the unique challenges this conference has at times presented nearly every Saturday.
  3. I think you’re seriously overestimating the attention span of the general public, and maybe even inviting backlash from folks tired of the same incessant talking point which will likely come across as annoying white noise. I personally think that’s a losing hand moving into the next presidential election. Maybe best to take that course of action, semi low profile it and let it be a talking point/zinger for the democratic nominee. That 30-40% of the country that suffers from a malaise of conviction with regard to political belief will likely never be interested enough in any of this to dig into it let alone willingly tolerate listening to it for the next year and a half. It sucks that that is where the deciding portion of the electorate is at, but I feel the D’s have largely shot their wad on the issue, and that Trump can claim the PR victory innocent or not. Who and how he can be beaten would be my strategy moving forward. The felon gum beating and mental masturbation is counter productive to the end goal. Which is to take back control of the WH. At the end of the day, and at the end of his presidency he’s going to walk away scott free. And no, that doesn’t mean I think he’s remotely innocent on all the accusations.
  4. Well, you, much like a bartender, could be held liable for letting someone who got wasted on the plane drive away and have an accident etc... I called into the office once for a kid, 8-10 maybe, who absconded with all the vodka from the plane. We also had to designate a pax as the cabin server and trust them to not serve to underage individuals. So there’s definitely some responsibility. But you have to understand that prostitutes and drugs are on private jets all the time. The pilots have to take the passengers word with regard to what’s in the baggage unless you see something suspicious in which case you investigate. And you don’t ask questions about the passengers either unless there’s something really amiss as well. I can name a number of folks celebrities and businessmen who were absolutely dragging hookers along for the weekend. But, there’s likely a difference between being part of a service with thousands of contracts, and plausible deniability with regard to who and what is onboard, and being personal pilots flying underage girls to private islands on the regular to party with dirty old men.
  5. If Romance Taylor showed us anything it’s that o’s and a’s are interchangeable.
  6. I wonder if they group of illegals caught in military uniform complete with name tags etc. is connected to this.
  7. I’d say that Overshawn’s size is intentional given that numerous LB’s have put on 20-30 lbs of muscle over the offseason. I suspect he might have noticed if they told him he could fulfill his wish to play S, but made him do the LB workout regimen. I hope that he connects the dots about that this year and takes to the upcoming offseason with his role in mind.
  8. I think that’s always been the plan with Overshawn. Getting him to buy in is another matter. So they made him a S name only and will play him as they intended to all along.
  9. Money is a magnifier. For those who have it and for those around those who have it. If friendships, familial relations, expectations and obligations change based on the size of a bank account then those are people you don’t need in your life. That would be lesson one. Lesson two would be to not entrust your money to those who’ve never managed wealth before. And the third would be to find a financial adviser to teach you how to manage your own money. Pretty simple really, but I don’t think most are listening, have a good sense of boundaries and responsibilities, or are fluent in the basic language of money to begin with. Sad really.
  10. As with the boys buzzing the beach there’s pushing the levers forward all the way and releasing the brakes like a normal pilot or there’s the idiots who just sit there blasting people on purpose. The brakes on bus aren’t designed to hold the plane stationary at Toga power so three clicks and let it go. They won’t be spooled up before you let it go.
  11. I’m sure 3/4’s of them don’t understand the financial presentation at all. Like Chad “OchoCinco” not understanding compound interest during the Cincinnati Hard Knocks season. Might as well quote Socrates in the the original Greek for the all comprehension going on during the rookie seminars.
  12. Up at the Dubuque airport there are dozens of models on display from a gentlemen who retired and needing something to do. Really fantastic work. His family said that he had well over 1000 models in husband house and they chose a few for public consumption.
  13. It’s not hard to believe at all if you’re willing to land in the displaced threshold and risk damage to your plane, airport property and personal injury to buzz beach goers. I’ve seen plenty of planes land short at TNCM. The only explanation is buzzing the crowd. The runway is adequate for 747 ops, so it’s not a matter of needing the pavement. Standing on the power for takeoff? That I find believable. The last time I was there we had a full boat, and the takeoff configuration called for Config 3 flaps and TOGA between the demands of the payload and terrain at the end of the field. AA had to takeoff against the grain to make their performance numbers.
  14. They will all lose weight in fall practice. I imagine Whitt will show up to the Latech game between 210-215, and likely finish the season 205-210.
  15. The last time I was in St. Maarten the airport personnel were talking about how KLM/Air France had recently knocked down the fence twice. I think that threshold is displaced a bit plus 1000 feet for the aim point markings. Hope losing that multimillion dollar career was worth it to buzz a bunch of tourists on the beach.
  16. It’s interesting that he noted the double slant as one our go to concepts. It was early in the season, and once there was a ton of tape on it (working might I add) we transitioned to a wheel/post combo and then something like double short fades where then twin WR’s stepped inside and then faded out for about 5 yards. All of that was to take advantage of DB’s cheating inside with alignment or leverage to take away the double slants. It led to a lot of easy open short completions where the DB’s has no idea how to play it. Im also interested to see if we develop a little concept that looked like a lot of fun where the H and RB went one direction like an option play and Sam went right on either a zone run or sprint pass. Kinda like a strange split zone look. Lots of possibilities. I admit that LSU will have top shelf athletes, but I’m a bit tired of the crap about Texas not seeing their like. Hey bud, Texas kicked the sh*t out of the the hottest offenses in the SEC two years running, and manhandled the team that lost the MNC on the last play two years ago while wilting in the final moments against Bama in the 2018 SEC championship games. Which is to say that we’ve seen the best the SEC has to offer, and we’re by no means outmatched. In fact, that seems to be the norm when SEC teams have venture out of the ESPN/Finebaum own fart huffing hype machine.
  17. I haven’t heard any of his interviews from media days. But, having watched a couple of decades of college football, I’ve noticed how often OC’s decide to load up their star QB’s in year 2 and 3 by handing them the full offense only to have it backfire, and be forced to simplify by mid season after less than stellar results. This offense will take the next step with Sam only playing as well as last year so long as the rushing attack can increase its productivity 20+ % from extremely average to pretty good. So I believe that Sam only needs to take moderate steps forward for this thing to really get rolling with the above in mind. If that happens by loading up his plate then great. There’s certainly something to be said for a mature QB fully understanding his system, and making decisions intuitively and reflexively. Sam is well on that road, but I’d be happy with a more measured progression if it doesn’t lead to setbacks. Especially given how well 2020 is shaping up to be dominant year for UT on both sides of the ball. A lot of handwringing to say that I hope we don’t overload Sam. Herman has a nice track record with his QB’s so we’ll see.
  18. There’s a fine line between making the next jump in reading defenses, making proper checks, and developing/understanding complimentary schemes and routes and overloading the QB into paralysis by analysis. Sam is best when he balls. It’s cool to have Mr. Cerebral taking the snap, but I’m hoping we don’t cross the line and hamper him.
  19. Yeah, but what if the autofeather system doesn’t work properly? It never failed it’s check during my King Air time, but you never know when those Swiss cheese holes line up just right. Seems like it would activate with 4-600 lbs of tq difference between the motors and not allow the remaining engine to feather. At least you know the 350 will climb if you pop a motor and everything else works. I have about 8-1000 hours in a PA31, and it would only take you to the scene of the crash in a single engine scenario with any kind of load.
  20. It was recoverable supposing the engine feathered appropriately, the plane was loaded correctly, configured correctly and flown correctly. All bets are off if one of those parameters weren’t met. The line personnel at the FBO where they boarded will be able to shed some light on the loading of the plane. I always credited each passenger with 50lbs of baggage (one roll aboard and one carry on) when planning, because no one ever brought just one bag unless it was a day trip. The individuals in question were apparently not very large, but who knows what their travel habits were with regard to baggage? The scenario I posited above only supposed that each person brought one bag, with an extra 1-2 bags placed in the wing lockers.
  21. If they were overloaded. Big if. They may simply have been right up against the limit performance wise. But that plane will climb at 5-700 fpm on one engine, and do it all day at max weight, aft CG etc. so long as it’s properly configured and flown at the correct single engine speed Again, they were hosed if something happened with the autofeather system whether it failed or wasn’t armed. The prop didn’t appear to be feathered in the video which should raise some questions. As should the failure to retract the gear. Maintaining their flight path laterally may have been impossible if the engine didn’t feather. i do find it hard to believe that an issue was recognized 12 seconds before the crash AND they were going faster than their accelerate/stop decision speed (V2).
  22. Well, you know, I figured that you were smart enough to access a message board and therefore could google something like the poster below you. The Vmc roll happened at the end. Hopefully it was an auto feather issue and not something stupid like overloading the plane or loading it out of its envelope. Also, the gear come up in an engine failure scenario. The simplest explanation is that they no longer had enough rudder to counteract the asymmetric thrust and torque of the operative engine. Whether that was due to the plane being too slow, overweight, the CG being too far aft, an auto feather malfunction or a combo thereof is to be determined. A friend and former 350 pilot ran the numbers for me. They were within a few hundred pounds of max weight and likely loaded near aft CG given 10 persons aboard, 30 lbs of baggage each, 50lbs of baggage in the wing lockers, and enough fuel to complete the trip with no alternates and IFR reserves.
