2021 Tour de France thread
Brutal. That last one was all Ewan. I was watching closely to see if Sagan would try to crowd toward the barrier when Caleb took them both out. Not sure if Roglic will be able to recover from that. Even before that crash between Caleb & Peter, I was furious at the spectators holding their phones way out over the barriers with sprinters approaching at speed. Get your goddamn phone out of the way! Reminds me of when Thor Hosholvd got his arm sliced wide open after a spectator caught him on the arm with one of those green fans on a stick while he was sprinting along the barriers.

2021 Tour de France thread
I don’t think he was trying to get a selfie. Instead of watching the road behind him for the approaching peloton, he was looking up the road trying the get the television camera on the moto to see his stupid sign shouting out his grandparents. Whatever it was, it put a lot of riders on the ground. About 30 seconds before that happened I was thinking that Jumbo were in a dangerous position on the road - you could feel that something was about to happen. Crazy start. Glad none of the real GC favorites lost significant time.

Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Chris Stapleton, and Other Good Stuff
I decided to go that show instead of one of the Austin shows. So excited to see them at Red Rocks with Lucinda opening. This will my high school aged kids first show at Red Rocks. It’s pretty cool to have this experience with them at a place where I’ve been making it a priority to travel from Texas to see bands since I was their age.

87th Texas Legislature
This is a staggering assault on democracy, and I wish I could say that I’m very concerned how it will be applied, but I’m leaning more towards heartbroken, disgusted, and terrified. The language allows for elections to be more easily overturned or voided based on “a preponderance of the evidence” versus clear and consistent findings of fraud. So, the next time their candidate appears to lose a race, the Republicans can just “make it right” with this new power. Now add in the “heartbeat abortion ban” and it’s clear that Texas and other states are moving closer to a Gilead type future than I ever believed was actually possible. This damned culture war is destroying, or has already destroyed, our nation.

Great 2nd shot out of the rough to set up that birdie putt to retake the lead. Hook em, Jordan!

Been waiting for this. Guess I’ll be firing off a text to Zack at Sweetwater tomorrow.

Mammoth WVH
I want to root for the guy, but I have to be honest. If someone played the audio of this for me and didn’t tell me who it was, I think my response would be, “well, that was pretty average and forgettable.” It will be interesting to see what else he does. The vocals were stronger than I expected. Rock on, Wolfie.

Coming to America sequel
Watched it, laughed a few times, but it was pretty much what I expected it would be after so long since the first movie. Coming To America has infinite re-watchability, but I can’t see myself ever wanting to see the sequel again.

What time is the inauguration? The Q folks aren’t big on specifics.

Identifying Trump rioters
I guess we can stand down. She says it was intended as a joke. I was genuinely disgusted and horrified there for a moment.

Songs that sound like nothing else
Hard to pick from so many, but few things have impacted the way I think about and listen to music as from having my mind blown by the way Jeff Buckley used his voice as an instrument beyond singing lyrics. Just otherworldly.

Noah's Ark
Man, that Bill Hicks bit about dinosaurs and the Bible really shook some of the less faithful/more wackadoo variety of Christian fundamentalists. From Glen Rose all the way to Kentucky. “Sing along, children. Behemoth is a dinosaur.”

Stephen King’s “The Stand”
I think the lack of discussion here after 6 episodes says it all.

I’m not seeing any reports about who shot the woman who died. Was she shot by police or another “patriot?”

How long will Sark be head football coach at Texas?
Pretty much the reason I said four seasons, also. With the exception of a proven commodity, they’re all checked out Mack, Strong, and Herman to me until they show otherwise.

the trump election lawsuit thread of dominance
If this was the Democrats trying to deny a win by a Republican President-elect, I imagine that murders of judges and politicians would have already happened.

Her daddy’s name HAS to be Cletus. I never realized Cleta was the feminine of Cletus.
