  1. I’ve had mine for a year and love it. I’m not all about the brand or into the culty social side of it. It’s great for all types of cycling workouts, strength training, and yoga. I’ve even used some of the interval training workouts running outside. I still ride my mountain bike and go on hikes and runs, but the Peloton is great for taking the time suck out of having to get up earlier to drive to a gym and back and all of that. I have special needs children and other things that require much of my time and attention. I’ve been through a lot of different exercise regimens and setups in the last 20 years. Since I’ve started using Peloton as the basis for guided cardio, strength training, and yoga at home, I’m in the best shape at 52 that I’ve been in since my early 30s. Yeah, it’s an expensive piece of equipment, but it’s high quality and durable. The subscription price had remained the same for the past year and has actually added additional services. The workouts are fun and legit. My experience is that it has been well worth the money and it the variety offers keeps me from getting bored or burned out.
  2. Wow. Going all in n Bernal, I guess.
  3. And gave them the ball
  4. RB deserve that for that bullshit flop. Lol.
  5. Was hoping for the reverse jinx, but even if PSG tries to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory, Leipzig is gonna to have to find a pulse.
  6. This thing could get out of hand. Before halftime
  7. It would be between Tom Dumolin and Steven Kruijswijk, with Dumolin being more likely. Kruijswijk is on the mend, so if Roglic isn’t 100% or thereabouts, Dumolin would be their best shot as GC threat IMO.
  8. Lord Noche Brisket of Stripes
  9. For anyone interested in the Isbell world who is not already subscribed to Amanda’s YouTube channel, she and Jason are doing live-streams with a better better sounding setup than the time around. They are also joined my Peter Levin on keys. Great stuff and fun banter. Good folks, and Amanda as easy on the eyes as she is the ears.
  10. I love that area north of Milan, especially around Como and Lugano. I never got a chance to ride during trips to Italy, but I rode plenty of notable and memorable places in France and Belgium. I wish I would have had more awareness at that age of the incredible opportunity I had living in Europe to go ride more of the monuments of cycling and epic climbs of the Grand Tours, but I was young and mostly flying by the seat of my pants. Also, most of my other American colleagues had no clue about the world of cycling.
  11. I’d be cool with a Pinot win. I was pulling for him today to stay close enough to get the GC victory, but Motor Martinez was too strong. Considering the shit show that 2020 has been so far, it would be cool to see the home country get its first overall some Hinault. At this point, I’m just thrilled that races are happening and I get to watch them. Didn’t get to see Il Lombardia, though.
  12. I lived in Wales for close to five years in my 20’s, and the time spent living, working, and traveling all over that side of the world made an impact on me that has lasted into my 50’s. I’m a Geraint Thomas fan, but I’ve never been a fan of that team. Not sure who I’m actively rooting for yet, but it ain’t INEOS.
  13. I hope so, too. It was pretty dammed gratifying watching TJV have two riders in the top 10 on GC after Roglic abandoned, and Ineos not have a rider in the final top 10. Hoping for a competitive and exciting TDF.
  14. Hopefully he’ll get a chance to do something in the TDF, but he only got the green light to go for the stage today because his team leader, and GC leader of the race (Roglic) didn’t start the final stage because of a nasty crash yesterday. Their Tour squad is pretty stacked - Roglic, Tom Dumolin, Steven Kruijswijk, Wout Van Aert, Robert Gesink, and George Bennett. If something happens that keeps Roglic or Dumolin out of GC contention, Kuss may get a chance to race for a stage win. It will be cool to follow his progress.
  15. Sepp has been known in the Colorado scene for years now. He was a badass MTB racer in college and has won the Tour of Utah and a stage of the Vuelta last year. He’s on a great team and focusing on learning how to ride and win grand tours from the experienced guys. It will be fun to watch him and see if he remains a domestique as a climbing specialist or if he will be able to progress as a GC guy.
  16. What a finish to the Dauphiné! It was no surprise that Roglic chose to abandon while in the lead, but it reopened the last day to 8 or 9 others will a legit shot at the GC. Also cool to see JV get the stage win even though they lost the GC. Fun racing with spectacular scenery.
  17. I almost bit until I got to “it was only 100 degrees.” Needs a bit of work for passable satire.
  18. It ain’t hate, it’s heritage
  19. I’m so glad, I’m so glad I’m glad, I’m glad, I’m glad
  20. Man, I hate to hear that. Sorry for your loss, brother.
  21. In the oversaturated and kinda played out medium of YouTube reactors, this dude stands out from most others I’ve seen. I can’t remember what I saw first, but it led me down a rabbit hole and I subscribed. It’s obvious that his enthusiasm to discover music that he wasn’t exposed to growing up is genuine. Always something positive to say and it’s fun to listen to these songs and see someone truly enjoy them for the first time. Feel good viewing for heavy times.
  22. “Force will be used against you?” Like restraint, cuffs, maybe even a taser if there is resistance? How in the fuck is deadly force from multiple officers warranted in this situation? Another straight up murder and ridiculously disproportionate response by the police. That is sickening and I can’t comprehend how much more of this we have to see.
  23. That was an incredibly crafted and delivered performance. He’s so adept at making cleverly prepared material seem off the cuff. The great comedians, singers, spoken word artists, and other speakers know how create tension, then release. Sometimes Dave allowed us release with a laugh, but he also hit us with gut punches of of hard to hear truth. It was funny where it needed to be, and unapologetically honest and angry where needed, as well. It was long enough to speak his mind humbly, and he knew when to wrap it up. So much respect and admiration for this man.
  24. Of course I present the rational and statistical side of it, too. I don’t want him walking around feeling resigned to an untimely and unjust death at the hands of police or “concerned homeowners who think he fits the description of a suspected burglar who will chase him down in their pickup truck.” Having adopted my children out of a horrific environment when they were 3 and 5 years old, gaining and keeping their trust has always been paramount. I’ve always tried to be as straight up as possible about life and the world we live in, up to their level of maturity and comprehension. I don’t sugar coat things. When they ask me direct questions, I give them direct answers. Anytime I tell them something is going to happen, no matter how minor, I make sure it happens. If there is a change, I explain why. I’m sure this is important with bio children, but consistency is everything for kids coming out of the foster system who are used to getting bullshitted and fucked over by adults. I try to handle this by preparing them for the worst, but that I also don’t want them to go through life with irrational fears. I make sure they understand that fair or unfair, there is a perception of “you are who you roll with,” so be mindful and discerning of the company you keep and how you may appear to others, especially white adults. My son has always been a car nut and gearhead. He wants to customize a car with dark tint and build a sound system. He’s afraid that when people see cars like that they think “gangsta” or drug dealer. He just loves cars and music. Anyway, the point I’m trying to find is that it’s a balancing act. I want to tell them that it’s unlikely that harm will come to them as long as they obey the law and be aware of their company and surroundings. At the same time, I feel I would be failing them if I didn’t make sure that they see and understand what is happening to people who look like them. The thing that keeps me optimistic is that my kids communicate with me for real. They talk to me about things that are real and even embarrassing, especially for a 13 year old boy and a girl turning 16 next week. The conversation is ongoing, and I consider myself fortunate that they trust me and come to me to talk about their feelings, their dreams, their fears, their questions, etc. I suppose I just try to make them understand that everything I do is out of unconditional love with the intention of providing the best preparation for adult life.
  25. I guess I’m in whatever percent of people on this board who DO have to have this kind of talk with my 13 year old son. It sucks that we’ve already been having similar conversations for years about dealing with law enforcement and authority figures. Now we’re discussing strategies of how to survive these interactions when, not if, they occur. If my heart wasn’t already completely broken, full of exasperation and outrage with all of the recent murders of unarmed black American citizens, the following recent exchange with my son surely did me in. I noticed my son seemed unusually quiet and not as engaged as usual, so I asked if he was feeling okay, and said yeah. Then after a pause he said, in a defeated tone I’ve never heard from him before, “it just sucks to know that when I’m a little older I’ll probably get killed by the police. I wish I could have a fun and cool life like you and Pappy (my dad).” It’s infuriating and terrifying to have to accept that my fatherly love and preparation can only do so much for my son, who for his whole life up to this point has been a sweet and funny kid with personality and charisma for days. But as he ages, many in his native state and country only see a young black male, and because of that he feels like an endangered species. That feeling should be laughed off as as hyperbole, but there’s truth to it. I’m tired, too. And I’m sorry for anyone who is having to have these kinds of conversations with their children or other loved ones. We, and I’m taking about all human beings, have to be better than this.
