  1. Dammit- total brainfart- i'll take my beating now. Just checked my tv. I was positive that when I put the Frame up, the bracket slid horizontally, the same as the aftermarket mount. But, alas, it's static--- you have to move the whole brackets. Boo. The aftermarket one I linked has the sliders. I still had the issue w/ the Frame where studs weren't 16" apart, so, the install wasn't symmetric. But, i was able to get it to work. Apologies!
  2. Yes- the receiver brackets do slide--- so that gives you movement anywhere along the track. The 38.5" was from the 2021-23 models, so it looks like they may have tweaked the dims a bit wider for 2024 (these are the widest left/ right screws, not the 4 vesa pattern mounts). When you get it on the wall, the brackets should click down and seat, and the upper portion of the tv should be flat on the wall when the magnets engage. So, if it is tilting down, you need to make sure it's fully seated- then it will click into place. I think they provided some sort of plastic spacers that are optional and will cause a gap--- i didn't need to use them. You'll enjoy the set--- and, much easier install than having to run electrical/ hdmi cables. FWIW- for those interested in a flat install for a non-Frame tv, i've had good luck w/ this mount in mine and my parents houses. Not as clean as the Frame, but, way closer/ flatter to the wall than the typical mounts we all already have. https://www.amazon.com/ynVISION-DESIGN-Bracket-Compatible-Samsung-2021-2023/dp/B0C3SCVP5T/
  3. I was fortunate when I installed my 55" Frame in my office- was able to hit two studs with 3" deck screws, and used a FlipToggle Toggle Bolt Anchor in drywall for a third point. One thing about your picture above w the blue lines drawn in, that I can't tell w/o seeing the exact measurements (and, hence, that may be the whole point). The flat mounts that attach to the wall, don't have to be symmetric to center, as long as the sliding receiver brackets match up to the width of the mounts on the back of the tv- which according to my template is 38.5" for a 75" tv. So, you could potentially move them over left and right to hit a stud (and not be centered/ symmetrical), and slide the receiver brackets to compensate/ get to the 38.5". Another thing I did (though it likely makes no difference, is bought some plastic flex conduit at homedepot to wrap the power/ video cable in). And, last comment- try puttinging the brackets together before mounting the tv, to make sure they 'snap' in place and fully seat. Neighbor had a heck of a time, and finally had to wide the receivers a bit w a screwdriver. Good Luck!
  4. One of my best purchases was a Dewalt drill/ impact drive combo set ~8 years ago that was on sale cheap at HD. They've been solid, and hooked me into the ecosystem. Since then have added a sawzall, hedge trimmer, chainsaw, and blower. Don't use super-heavy, but, all work well, build quality is good, and batteries have held up. Still have Toro/ Stihl yard equipment. My dad has Makita, which seem to be a bit more ergonomic than the Dewalt. Neighbor has Ryobi- lot off cool tools/ accessories. Uncle has Milwaukee. These days, I would guess most brands are pretty good. Probably good to have similar stuff so that you can swap batteries, but, mixing in cheaper stuff that you don't use as much works.
  5. That Sony looks great- no frills/ and built-in Bluetooth is a winner. I'm still rocking a ~2000 era Sony a/v receiver and some Boston Acoustics bookshelves in my garage. I'd also give nextdoor/ fb marketplace a quick check as well and see if anything pops up. I've seen some decent spec'd a/v receivers that people are getting rid of cheap ($50-$150 range). They would have a built-in phono pre-amp/ input, and bluetooth depending upon the age. Guessing a lot of folks are moving to Sonus/ soundbars these days and are downsizing from the old, bulky/ wired stuff.
  6. That's a good call on removing the battery. PITA, but, a hard reset fixes things a lot of times. Assuming that i'm looking at the correct board- the current Bios is listed as: Version 1811, 11.02 MB, 2023/10/16, so check that too. F2 or Del on boot, to get into the Bios...
  7. Pretty sure you want slots 2 and 4, which sounds like what you are using. A Few quick thoughts- is your bios up to date? did you double-check ram compatibility (likely is ok)? were the sticks purchased as a package for dual channel use? did you make sure the ram was seated/ clicked down? (i've had this happen before) How long did you wait? Are you getting error lights from the mobo? (sometimes it takes awhile to reboot, and on some mobos i think there is a 'retraining' mode. have you tried each new stick in slot 1 to make sure they work?
  8. Big fan of Podcast Addict on my android phone. I haven't tried this particular feed url - but, have had luck with a bunch of others.
  9. Haven't seen Lone Star / LS Light 12 or 24 pack longnecks for a long time in Dallas--- just 6 packs if you want bottles, and 12 or 30 pack cans. Always easy to find Lone Star cans here though.
  10. Good call on Mariano's- haven't been there in awhile. May do that, since it's close. E-Bar is good too. Drive by Manny's Uptown Tex-Mex on Mockingbird / Abrams all the time, but, still haven't tried it.
  11. Friends coming in with their kids from Chicago in a few weeks. Want to get them out for some good Texmex and Margaritas. Usual go to for company is Ojeda's, Chuy's or El Vecino, but, wondering if there is something different within striking distance of M-Streets/ Lakewood that would be good to check out? RIP- Matt's and Goose, not the best, but, always had a good time there too. And, saw C-Man's rec for Gonzales in the Ticket thread--- can't believe I've never been there--- play golf at Keeton every now and then. On my list now.
  12. We drove up from Illinois- fished in Ontario. Took Yuengling with us, and picked up some LaBatt's Blue for the camp. Beer in Canada is expensive! Left an 18 pack of Yuengling with our seaplane pilot- he was happy, as were the ladies in the office. They like beer. Grabbed some MGL and Spotted Cow in Wiscy at Target on the way back down. Still can't decide if MGL is really Mic Ultra or Utra Gold in a different can... Really is God's Country up there. Lotta fishermen on this board- Texas lakes and Gulf Coast- that would love to catch smallies, walleye, pike and muskie. Just need to do it. You can't beat the weather, or, the scenery.
  13. Minnesota Hockey Beer--- brought some back from my recent Canada trip-
  14. Final Norm segment coming up. Musers and Hardline are in studio with him.
  15. Fwiw- you will probably have to setup your phone as a hotspot, and have the mychevy app/ truck connect to your phone wifi to get things to work properly. I may have even had to plug into the usb port the first time I setup. Just remember it was a pita, but, has been solid since it started working. I also connected the truck to my home wifi to update the truck android software- lot quicker/ more stable than using the phone wifi.
  16. What kind of pickup truck? For my chevy / samsung combination, had to set the truck as a 'trusted device'. That seemed to fix things. You may have to start over/ reset/ reinstall everything. Chevy still doesn't always play nice w/ the phone, as they want you to purchase their monthly $25 data plan. But, there's ways around that to use your phone data plan (wrote a little script that automatically turns on phone hotspot when i get into the vehicle/ then the vehicle connects to the phone wifi).
  17. 24 posts and no Italian Beef?
  18. I'm a big fan of the Jabra Elite Active 75t earbuds- use for calls and streaming on my phone/ computer, and do a lot of outdoors type stuff too, where they have gotten sweaty/ rained on. They work well, and have held up. Have a few pair- just bought a renewed pair from Amazon for $75 or so. Think the Elite 7 Pro is the newer version now.
  19. That was the box you could insert a folded 3x5 notecard into- right above the dial. If you got it between the contacts correctly, hbo/ scrambled channels would come in.
  20. Just pulled up the current Rategrinder spreadsheet- looks like 10.1-10.5 cents for Dallas, 12 month, 2k average usage. Gexa, Frontier, Powernext, True Value with the lowest rates.
  21. New LG front load washer / dryer front loading set last year. Rock solid so far. Just replaced 10+ year old Frigidaire Gallery gas range (computer board), dishwasher (bad pump) and microwave this year with GE Cafe appliances (so, not high end, but, not low end). Interesting how the Frigidaire range and dishwasher both went out around the same time. Microwave was fine, but, wanted to match the set. Original Frigidaire fridge rusted out the back/ leaked due to a condensation design flaw 3 or 4 years ago. Replaced with a Whirlpool. Solid, and the Icemaker works/ no issues. First replacement GE Cafe range had a bad numeric control panel- didn't notice until day after install (installer only tested burners), so, it took over a month w/ HomeDepot screw ups to get a replacement. Good so far. Dishwasher is a little bit strange w/ random beeping, so, turned the sound entirely off. Didn't really look at the higher end stuff, but, seemed like the GE's, Kenmores, Whirlpools, Samsungs, LGs all had similar units/ price ranges. Sales/ Installer said 7-8 years these days is doing good. Probably some level of 'planned' obsolescence in all of them...
  22. I replaced an existing ~10 yr old security system with Simplisafe last fall. Package deal- base, sensor modules, glassbreak/ motion, indoor camera, etc. from Costco. Think it was around $175. Since I already had magnetic sensors on the doors/ windows from the old alarm system (these are basically two wires and a magnetic open/ closed switch), i got the soldering iron out, and connected the Simplisafe modules to the wires where the old sensors terminated in the alarm control panel. Then removed the old system/ prettied things up. So, I'm running wireless w/ Simplisafe, utilizing existing wiring/ sensors. Works great, and I don't have the Simplisafe modules on doors/ windows. ...And, have a couple of ADT signs out front for fun.
  23. Just ran an updated RateGrinder sheet- PowerNext 12 Auto is 11.1 cents and Fixed is 11.2 cents. Great tool if you don't go the Ogre route/ plan on jumping around during your contract. I currently have Southwest Power and Light, but they are much higher this year.
  24. Looking at the latest RateGrinder spreadsheet- prices have come down to 11.0 - 11.7 based on 2k usage in Dallas, with a nice drop over the last couple of weeks. My contract is up in a few weeks, so hopefully the trend continues into my 14 day window to switch.
  25. That's about all I make these days. Bunch of good Chicago thin recipes on pizzamaking.com. You can vary the amount of water for crispier/ cracker crust. As dcbc said- cheap amazon peel, baking stone and parchment paper are your friends, unless you like calzones. I use Cento (yellow cans) tomatoes- either crushed or puree, with a little salt and sugar. Makes a good Chicag-style sauce. And whole milk mozarella.
