  1. I cannot emphasize enough that there is a message board out there where they commonly use the phrase "to Rimbo something up" and it actually means something
  2. No, I'm really not. I've gone full Derka many times in the past, and still struggle with it even now. Ditched hornfans long before the great Shaggy Exodus not because of all the reasons the rest of us left, but because I just couldn't deal with myself anymore. And I've definitely had some spats even with people here, where I just couldn't let things slide. I got better over time because I got older, I got more perspective, Surly got older and more mature, I more or less DROPPED some of the message boards I used to visit regularly (where my username is now a verb, just like Derka's is here) and, most of all, heavy use of the Ignore feature.
  3. It helps a LOT, though. I can see that this thread is giving me some new users to ignore, too...
  4. i don't even know where that is
  5. what happened to Loree was terrible. hornfans didn't have an ignore feature; surly does. this is WHY it has one.
  6. Clapton was the answer I gave. I still think that's the right answer. He was my guitar hero's guitar hero, and as far as I know, has not committed any war crimes nor several dozen rapes. And it's kind of an amusing story. (I did not impress him.) W was probably the answer he'd recognize. This was back when he was just the lowly owner of the Rangers, before he'd become governor. Cosby was doing a charity thing for a school in Amarillo. My high school string quartet was summoned to play boring shit while people ate and lined up for photo ops. He pulled us over at the end to let us have a photo, too. I'd been a massive fan of his, since long before his TV show, so it was a big deal to me. That motherfucker. Met Dandy Don because we were at the same hotel when my family was traveling in Bath, England. "Imagine coming all the way to England just to hang out with another Texan!" --Mom
  7. Derka, your reason for NOT ignoring Mo is not as good as why you SHOULD ignore him. The easiest way to deal with someone who tries to provoke you into responding... is to ignore them. You can literally enjoy a Motownhorn-free Surly by adding his name to your ignore list. Done! He can rail all he wants, but he'll no longer get the one thing he craves... your response. And he'll starve to death while he tries and tries and you just don't even see him trying. You should just do it already. You win nothing if you don't.
  8. I didn't even remember that I'd actually met the fucker when the kid asked. Of course, that's true for several dozen women who met him, too...
  9. I mean, there's bein' a dickhead, and bein' a dickhead. Whole dramatic thing reminds me of this famous Penny Arcade line. (The story behind it, more or less, is here. But it really begins here.)
  10. @shadow_operative -- just put the fucker on ignore already. @immamac -- you're being a dickhead about this. Both of you grow the fuck up.
  11. Oh, and I met the Vice President of the USA when he was the Vice President. But it's a testament to how low on the totem pole VP of the USA really ranks, that I didn't even think to list him. (Good guy, though. 10/10 would vote for in the 1984 presidential election)
  12. My kid's friend asked me who the most famous person I ever met was. After he went home, I thought about my answer, because he didn't know who it was. And realized at least one person I met, he probably had heard of. But I'm sticking with my first answer anyway. So who's the most famous person on the list?
  13. i guess even a blind squirrel writes Shakespeare twice a day
  14. I mean, aside from the fact he's arguing with someone who IS a source.
  15. At what point is he lying, and at what point does he really just not know?
  16. Ok so... I knew he was SAYING Obama, but now... does he really not understand?
  17. Thing about Flood is that he's got skins on the wall for development, too, not just recruiting. Though it did still take some NIL help to jump start that, after a decade and a half of mediocrity. We've had guys who were good at one or the other (or neither) but not both since... I don't even remember when. But I figure nobody's perfect, and chalk this up to that. I can't see practices, so I don't know what's going on with the other players, if there's a blind spot here or what. Truth is, we haven't had the depth to do much if an OL was underperforming; the guys behind the guys were invariably worse. We should have depth now, but OL still have to develop. It's the second-hardest position on the field to learn other than QB. tldr: I don't think we've got anyone better, yet. But we should, soon, though maybe not this year.
