  3. Pretty major flaw in this plan. They should also be doing something about the ones they can’t find.
  4. Self checkout: A) If there’s a line, then you have to keep at/under the limit. No exception. Doesn’t matter how fast you are. You are not faster than zero seconds, which is how fast the person behind you would be at the checkout if you were following the rules. B) If there is no line, and several stalls open, and you are fast, you can go over… within reason. If you can comfortably carry it in a hand cart, then it’s probably fine. The overall rule here has to be that there is zero chance of a line forming before you finish. C) Regardless of whether there is a line or not, if you aren’t capable of completing your transaction in 2-3 minutes, self checkout is not for you. I don’t care if you only have two items. Get in, get out, quit fuckin about.
  5. Nice. I’m out of town until tomorrow, but I’ll measure our space when I get back. We really need a new one, I’ve just been dragging my feet getting around to it
  6. Weird. When I click that share button, Chrome browser on iPhone, it does the exact same thing as Wordle and quordle.

  8. Wait, what? Are you saying I'm an asshole if I have a normal amount of groceries and don't let someone with only 17 items cut in front of me? Where does that end? If they have one less item than me? Less than half? Where does this madness end in your mind?
  9. I suck at this game. Never done better than 5 guesses. It’s almost always a ridiculously priced house so I tell myself I just have no reference point for how to guess the price. But today was a normal house, and it still took 5 guesses. Although if this house was in Austin, I think I would’ve nailed it in one or two. https://housle.page.link/s4QR I'm a Housle Legend!: 5/6 🏠 +112.5% 🏠🏠 +50.0% 🏠🏠🏠 +12.5% 🏠🏠🏠🏠 -6.2% 🏠🏠🏠🏠🏠 +0.0%

  12. But that wasn’t supposed to be the takeaway! On the app, it was 13 degrees below the projected low, and 22 below the projection at my house
  13. Technically yeah, but I was in my driveway
  14. This was yesterday morning, just getting around to posting. How can they be this wrong about low temp forecast? And also, crazy how much colder it gets at my house than even a couple miles away. Shitty pic, but 23 degrees at my house
  15. We've seen tons a discussion about them needing tanks, but I don't think I've seen anything on how many are needed. Obviously, every one makes a difference, but how many is enough to truly change the course of the war? Months? Eh, I could believe that. But years? No way. That could only be the timeline if we were making them from scratch.
  16. So, there's the big summit a couple days ago, Germany changes their stance to say that other countries can send Leopards, but they hold strong on saying they won't send any until the US sends Abrams, other countries announce that they're sending Leopards, we will shortly announce that we already have Abrams in the field, and Germany is left holding their dicks and having no option but to send Leopards (without 100% signaling that they want to be friends with Russia again). That about sum it up? Pretty masterful if that turns out to be how it all shakes out.
  17. They got all the horny dudes. Duh. Admittedly, I’m a bit shocked there were only 46 in the entire metroplex, but there are no more consumers now. The hoors have all found other jobs, all those women that were kidnapped and forced into prostitution have been returned home, and the pimps have joined together to solve the housing crises.

  19. Other than spending time with the kid, your response has absolutely nothing to do with what I said in my post
  20. Actually, not a bad idea to use this as a basis for them paying you. Calculate the cost of eventually having to re-stain it and/or replace it. Those are actual costs you will eventually incur that would've been avoided by keeping the chain link. Set that as your floor, then get as much extra as you can for the inconvenience and it not being what you'd prefer to see daily.
  21. Yup. Johntay got bumped to 5. Bug Mountain fell 8 spots, but kept his fifth star. Duce dropped one spot, but similarly kept the fifth. They're about to get into the Top 10, so no other's related to Texas until we get to Arch barring something crazy.
  22. South Padre for spring break. Walking from our beach house to some club, the urge to pee hit me. Went to a bush on the side of the road and let it flow. No more than a couple seconds go by before I'm spot-lighted from behind and then the lights/siren confirm what I already suspect. I finish up, then the interrogation starts. It's apparent that I'm drunk. When they ask for my ID, I tell them I don't have it because we're going to a foam party or something and I didn't want my wallet to get ruined. I'm just wearing a swimsuit so I flip my pockets, and I just have my phone in a ziplock bag. It appeared I was being truthful, and I mostly was, except my ID was in my shoe. I brilliantly give them a fake name and fake address, and I go on my merry way, laughing with my friends as I tear the ticket up and throw it in the garbage. Fast forward probably six months, and I come home to royally pissed off parents. Well, you see, when a ticket goes unpaid, apparently the South Padre PD will mail you a reminder. Which I, of course, never thought would be an issue since I had outsmarted the cops. Welp, it turns out I gave them: a) my real first name and only a fake last name, and B) more importantly, practically the correct address (e.g., I said "123 Barton Drive, Austin, Texas 78733" instead of the real address of "123 Barton Creek Lane, Austin, Texas 78733.) Apparently that's close enough for USPS. Maybe if the name had been completely different, I could've convinced them that I had nothing to do with it. Hell, if that had been the case, they probably wouldn't have even opened the letter. So, on top of now having to pay a higher fine, my parental-punishment was significantly enhanced for lying to the cops. By that point, my brilliant stunt was already known by everyone at school. My brother ensured that everyone also found out how much of a moron I actually was. Looking back on it, this outcome made for a far better story.
  23. I would normally agree with you, and I don't entirely disagree even in this situation. But in one of the filings I read when I first looked into this, that teacher had been stabbed by a student in the past. Don't recall if it was in the classroom or somewhere else though. I believe that was part of the justification for why he wasn't prosecuted.
  24. Semi-related thought this made me think of. For those of y'all with kids, especially those in earlier grades, doesn't it piss you off when they grade homework? If the kid does it on their own (which is what would determine how well they are progressing) they're probably going to miss a few. But, knowing this, many parents will help their kids out to ensure that they score 100. But that entirely defeats the purpose of grading the homework. They're just grading the parents at that point, not the kid. And the kids that don't have parents willing/able to help them receive lower grades, even though they may actually be smarter than many of their peers. First, that really sucks for those other kids. But more importantly, it means I have to do homework every fucking night, and my kid's teacher doesn't get as good of a feel as to where my kids need extra focus. Ok, rant over. Shit just pisses me off.
