  1. This is good advice. If you are interested in practicing law and not interested in playing in the Big Law and or Federal Judge Clerkship game, Baylor or St. Mary's are great places to get a practical law degree.
  2. When was the last time anybody asked to see your high school diploma? Get your law license -- make your reputation.
  3. NRA was founded by Yankees that were appalled at how bad the Union soldiers were with their shooting skills during the Civil War. Marksmanship classes were the principal reason for the creation of the NRA.
  4. On the other side of that argument -- once the kids were out of the house, my wife stated that she never wants special birthday, anniversary, or holiday gifts from me (since she always buys whatever she wants for herself anyway), but she really, really likes to get a card on special events like that. I'm all in on $8 cards!
  5. Agreed that it is remarkable how little social engagement that the Biden tweet had.
  6. In a word -- no. Ownership percentage in a professional services firm does not usually equal what gets paid out to each owner annually. Many firms have a compensation committee that makes those calls, others have a specified formula based upon rainmaking, billable hours or other variables. Absent some contractual obligation -- sitting on the sidelines does not pay all that well.
  7. Kicking this thread back up. The bride and I did an after church Easter feast at the newish north Deckhand location. Much bigger than previous location and probably 4X the televisions for watching sports and/or the Masters today. It did not disappoint. We opened with a Salt and Pepper calamari. I then did oysters both ways -- half shell and roasted. Finished out with a fried oyster plate. She did a crawfish etouffee that she seemed happy with. Solid place. P.S. Their green hot sauce in the squeeze bottles is finominal!
  8. Not easy to call a Tom that is locked on to the real thing!
  9. Some pretty good background on said Lebanese in Austin in this piece: https://www.michaelcorcoran.net/austins-lebanese-influence-and-the-roots-of-acl-fest/
  10. Just enough spin to avoid Mico having any more disputes with Mi Cocina. Menus are remarkably similar, including a "Mambo King" rather than Mi Cocina's "Mambo Taxi". Reminds me of this:
  11. You are correct: One day, Bob Armstrong, a longtime politician who had been Land Commissioner of Texas, walked into the kitchen. "Little Matt," he said, "gimme something different for an appetizer ... something not on the menu" https://www.mattstexmex.com/Bob/
  12. True. More details. https://lakewood.advocatemag.com/matts-rancho-martinez-closing-in-lakewood/
  13. Nobody here is advocating for criminal acts.
  14. It's just a bullet. Nothing special about what gun that it comes out of.
  15. it is a .223 cartridge, not an AR-15 cartridge. Yay for anybody that looks to the WaPo for an authoritative source.
  16. This AR-15 myth is so stupid and wrong. Most folks won't even use a .223 as a deer rifle because it doesn't have enough knock down power. But carry on with your magical stories about how the bullets explode in the bodies of innocent victims.
  17. Good luck, bud!
  18. My point is that blaming inanimate objects for the bad shit that evil people do is a losing argument. Guns, cars, knives, swords, rocks, baseball bats, bulldozers... there is no limit.
  19. FIFY Really a dumb take, Chuckie.
  20. Matt's is Matt's. Basic Tex Mex and good margaritas. Great place for a party with old friends.
  21. Looked back at menu -- this stuff is crack! GORGONZOLA JALAPENO PASTA A Chez Zee signature, made with a blend of jalapenos, shallots, spinach, and creamy gorgonzola, tossed with linguini and topped with fresh jalapeno
  22. Impressive response. Fuck the criminal.
  23. "Child"
  24. They looked like they were well trained. They had each other covered.
