  1. Lest we forget about Austin's demonstrated expertise in executing complex rail transportation projects...
  2. Hard to get away from doing business with "Big Food", no matter how hard you try. Personally, I celebrate Herdez's entire catalog.
  3. Asset/Liability maturity matching is Banking 101. I'm not sure exactly what happened here, but it is a major (and very predictable) fuck up in the current interest rate environment. The over classification of so much of their assets as HTM hid their huge embedded losses. I don't think that it would have taken the "stress test" to identify this risk.
  4. IDK. I thought that there was some connection between those two stores.
  5. An acquired taste, for sure!
  6. No obvious connection that I can see. NY version is a Mexican food joint. Austin's was a burger joint that may have also had nachos and maybe some enchiladas -- especially at the 6th street store.
  7. But then you miss out on the delicious hearts, kidneys, and livers!
  8. The parking at Tavern is a big plus.
  9. Nicely done. Tavern and Dirty Martin's props. Do the Texas Chili Parlor next time!
  10. Are you kidding me? Hank the Cowdog. My kids loved all of that, especially out at the deer lease when they were able to see what Hank was talking about. http://www.hankthecowdog.com/
  11. Two thoughts: It kept me out of a lot of trouble. I still know how to make a great pizza. So, I'd say yes.
  12. I may be done with WB. I had a very uninspired Jap (no racist) Cheese burger last week at the Corpus Christi Bayfront Mecca store. Ordered fries with it. $3.71 for a very small order of soggy fries. There must be better things to eat than that. Yay, private equity!
  13. Late to the thread, but I worked as an assistant manager (not an assistant to the manager!) at a Pizza Hut in HS in the 1970s. I'd have to get in at 5 am to make the dough for the day. Huge stand mixer with a dough hook that could take your arm off. Flour, water, salt, yeast. Wait for it to rise. Thick or thin crust -- all made on site. The sauce came out of a can and the meats and cheeses were out a box from the freezer, but we prepped and chopped all of veggies on site. No pre-packaged portions, either. We made some pretty good pies back then.
  14. My take is that there are so many spammy cold-call emails going on in this space that it is hard to separate the wheat from the chaff.
  15. And they are likely all made at the same plant in Mexico. All of our stuff has a Whirlpool or Kenmore nameplate on it.
  16. You say that like it's a bad thing!
  17. I don't want loyalty. I want real loyalty. I want him to kiss my ass in Macy's window at high noon and tell me it smells like roses. I want his pecker in my pocket.
  18. Give me the simple appliances that do the basics and last forever!
  19. I'm not sure that there is a bit of difference between Crystal or Louisiana -- I like them both. Jalapeno or Chipotle versions are the only Tabasco products that I buy.
  20. Damning with faint praise? How were the pickles and onions?
  21. The Narrator: It will cost the taxpayers way more than $25 Billion. (For the good of the country, of course.)
  22. Frankly, I think that the Fed should have done something like this way earlier. So many banks had bond interest rate exposure. And the OCC knew all about it. The current administration simply wanted to wish the current interest rate environment as "transitory" -- 4-5 basis points is not "transitory"
  23. The U.S. taxpayers are going to be buying a ton of underwater bonds from banks this week. At par. Guess who will take the hit?
  24. That FDIC press release is really dumb. Love the "no cost to taxpayers" bit. Are Men from Mars gonna fund it?
