  1. LOL, that fucking place. No idea, but I hope it is. When I moved away in 2005 it was still open.
  2. I'm a few years older than Swayze and Rice Village was always safe during my lifetime. My last regular era at GK was during the mid-and-late1990s and it felt plenty safe back then... and it was not in Rice Village.
  3. As part of this study they also test you for SARS-CoV-2 antibodies... I had none (which aligns with me not having been sick).
  4. Mine came back at 978. My 2nd shot (Moderna) was late January.
  5. My 2nd shot was late January and I'm planning to do the 3rd in mid-late September (followed by draws 2 & 3 at some points after that).
  6. I signed up over the weekend and had my first blood draw this morning- curious to see the numbers (allegedly in 2-3 days).
  7. Yep, that was a solid April Fools' joke by the Chronicle for the edition leading up to 4/1 back in 2014. https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/2014-03-28/all-aboard-the-soccer-train/
  8. Don't sell yourself short. With some basic literacy courses you could probably handle it.
  9. Yep, 4th Tap blows. Lazarus is pretty terrible too unless something has changed recently- I gave up on them in 2018. Zilker Brewing Co. is my favorite in that region. I haven't seen Meanwhile mentioned here so I'll bring it up. They're south with a nice setup (plenty of land, a few food trucks, a stage for bands) and decent beers... easy to combine with a trip to Live Oak, Hi Sign, etc. I stopped by ABGB today- great beer as usual and a good band playing. They also have a tangerine sour on tap right now.
  10. Tech alum checking in here. For background, I don't read any message boards beyond this one, and even here I've rarely ever viewed the football forum until this recent shake-up (I'm here for the titties and beer). I graduated during the SWC era and don't think I even realized it had become Big XII until the early 2000s- I didn't start following Tech again sports-wise until Mike Leach took over. I'll kinda miss the regional conference we had, but otherwise will enjoy trips back to campus to watch games and bar hop my old spots as usual. It'll be weird/different at first, but will still be fun.
  11. Someone started a thread about it- guess you didn't bother to look before acting like a bitch. R.I.P. Dusty, thanks for the memories and your contribution to the soundtrack of many of our lives.
  12. TCU easily had the worst ROI for their payments vs. the other SWC schools during that era.
  13. I spent a year working on a SMU death penalty documentary (Pony Excess- the series finale of the original ESPN 30 for 30) and was present for most interviews we did for the film + countless discussions with people who were involved during that era from all SWC conference schools. It became very clear that all schools had substantial "big bagman" groups, except maybe Rice.
  14. Look at posting your photos/video to Pond5, Shutterstock, Getty Images, etc. They and others like them make it available for people to license for random projects or broadcast network/streaming projects- thousands of production companies need random specialized content for their projects. Worst case nobody licenses your content and you've lost nothing. The other side of it is maybe you find a niche that people pay for. You can do all of that while continuing your job hunt.
  15. I watched it for the first time a few months ago and your post describes my experience with it as well.
  16. I lived on the 10th floor of Coleman one year. One night my gf and I were on my bed watching a movie and she looks at me and says, "Are you doing that?". Turns out the bed was shaking. I looked to my right (toward the door) and saw the clothes in my closet were swaying on their hangers. 30 seconds after that my neighbor opens my door and yells, "What the fuck!?". He had a fish tank and there were waves in it that eventually led to water spilling out of it. Next thing we knew it all stopped. The next day there was a story in the paper that there had been an earthquake overnight and IIRC the epicenter was in Alpine (plenty far away). The news story said that the only people in Lubbock who reported anything were those living on the 5th floor or above in various buildings around town. Anyway, CSB and all that... hadn't thought about that in ages.
  17. Cab service was terrible in Austin, they dug their own grave. Unless you were at a hotel or the airport, good luck back then.
  18. That thread is alive and well here at Surly, it just has a different name (check the lulz board).
  19. His passing has been sad news indeed. R.I.P. to a fantastic, caring, generous, and kind person. He was a neighbor and good friend of mine for many years and things won't be the same without him around. Peace
  20. That was strong- looking forward to the next one.
  21. WTF? I've never encountered this with gmail. A search I did a couple of days ago returned emails that matched the criteria from over a decade ago.
  22. I spent a ton of time at Sculpture Falls & Twin Falls that Summer- the Greenbelt was glorious.
