Yeah, it would be one thing if we were blowing out Kentucky and Mississippi State but we need Herculean efforts from both sides of the ball to escape with wins. Then we almost gave back a huge comeback to Vandy. We have no killer instinct outside of OU and as we've seen we caught them at about the best time imaginable.
2:30 kick on ABC
Arkansas is terrible, we should beat them convincingly which means we won't because we can't beat anyone convincingly right now. This will be another struggle where another sub .500 team finds a way to have their best game of the season. Arkansas gave up 235 rushing yard to LSU yesterday, 230 to Auburn, 217 to aggy, 264 to Tennessee, I could keep going but maybe we could try running the ball against them? Silly notion by me but maybe that could help make beating them a little easier.
Kirby's become to Sark what Stoops was to Mack. Yeah, we're not getting blown out by 40 but we're getting blown out 2/3 times we play them. We have no answer for their physicality. We have no answer for the little wrinkles that Kirby throws out. Kirby really gets how to beat Sark fairly easily. Of course, doesn't help when we beat ourselves with penalties, drops, and abandoning the running game. Kirby goes into this game the same way Stoops did against Texas. At least we avoid them for a year.
Yeah that was 20 years ago though. It was the greatest game we've ever seen but none of us thought we'd then sit through the worst period of constant mediocrity since the 70s-80s run.
It's not championship or bust for me. It's not getting consistently blown off the field by better competition. The man simply cannot convert games like this. There is only one instance where he did and that might be more that Quinn Ewers had the game of his career in that one coupled with a strong performance by two of the best WRs we've had since the Roy Williams years. What is Sark's record now against top 10 opponents? The man is overmatched in almost every game he attempts.
Vince Young isn't walking through that door, David. We're not in the Big 12 any more where you can pull a comeback against Oklahoma State. I know you love to play devil's advocate here but maybe take a second and look at the reality of this. He's a mediocre coach who can get us 7-9 wins and maybe he'll pull a rare 10 win season if things fall right. But he's not going to convert games against the better teams in the SEC. He has a ceiling. If you're fine with that then cool. I'm not but I get that unless he leaves the powers that be are fine with how things are.
Yes, my preference is he moves on to the NFL as he's not going to do much more as head coach here. But I doubt NFL teams are going to want him as his scheme is piss poor against good defenses.
He needs an OC. If he doesn't want one then move on. You cannot abandon the run like he does and put everything on a passing game that won't catch passes and an OL that sucks total fucking ass. He is so fucking stubborn. You are not as smart as you think you are. Two weeks to prepare for this to get blown out yet again.
Absolute dogshit in all three phases. I don't blame Arch at all. He is surrounded by morons who false start, hold, can't catch passes in their hands. He has a head coach who doesn't call run plays in the 2nd half. This was a fundamental failure and it keeps happening against teams like Georgia and Ohio State. Sark is a decent mid-tier coach but we're never going to convert games like this into wins outside of great individual efforts like Ewers against Alabama. He has a ceiling and we've seen it. Maybe we sneak into the playoffs but he's not going to win the SEC or win a championship. But we just have to ride it out now.
What is wrong with you? We don't need shit from OU if we win. If OU wins then you're going to see some bullshittery like in 08. Oh but Mateer wasn't the same QB he is now. You never ever root for OU.
