  1. Smoking related deaths in the US are 484,000 PER YEAR for additional perspective. https://www.cdc.gov/tobacco/data_statistics/fact_sheets/fast_facts/index.htm
  2. Well that’s good you know. Whichever pulseox you end up with, the most important part is that it provides precise results..... then you just monitor for changes.
  3. They’re all mostly cheap Chinese electronics. There was on study from U San Fran that indicated Contec is an accurate brand. I bought one and had some cheap knock off sent instead. The vendor eventually sent me a Contec, which was very similar. Both work about the same. They’re off by 1% from one another.
  4. I recommend honeycomb shades over blinds. It has a cleaner look and blinds are also dust magnets. I got mine at bed bath and beyond. I have also done the white faux wood blinds from Home Depot.
  5. The leaves on some of mine are turning colors... I’d leave the foliage along and spray it with a brush killer.
  6. My pick up has always been scheduled during horrible pruning windows.
  7. Well that sucks... oh wait the city NEVER schedules large brush collection in my area during oak pruning seasons.
  8. It’s advertised to kill stumps as well if you wanted to give it a shot. the instructions provide directions for applying to stumps too... However, I’ll report back in either case.
  9. Have one of these in my attic...works like a champ
  10. I just dumped a bunch of these on my big stumps and brushed it on the leaves of several other smaller trees that sprouted in my gardens. Will check back in 1 to 6 weeks as directed https://www.lowes.com/pd/BAYER-ADVANCED-32-fl-oz-Concentrated-Brush-Killer/4329986
  11. Brondell Thinelines are back in stock at Amazon. It was painful to pay the 150% markup but thats the price for 100% cleanliness.
  12. Holy crap, I cut down two hackberry trees behind my shed several months back and now they’re back! I left like a inch of stump and those SOB managed to survive. So now I removed all the new growth. I also took my reciprocating saw 365 around the stump to cut off the roots. I should get some of that brush killer as well. I have small hacks all over my yard too. Little buggers are impossible to pull up. Can you apply the brush killer with a foam brush? Some of these are close to other plants I don’t want dead.
  13. https://slickdeals.net/?sdtrk=iphone&apikey=741d8d19b1acc834c3a3219a1229a082ba6db711&api_key_id=21332692&pno=571658&lno=1&sdtid=0&trd=Amazon%2Bcom&sdfib=1&afsrc=1 Front page deal on Slickdeals. Anyone have this one? Need to replace the brondell that broke when I replaced the toilet.
  14. Wow that’s informative. Could you please share the source/link etc?
  15. A friend told me there is a 2015 video that surfaced of Patrisse Cullors stating that’s she’s a Marxist. “We actually do have an ideological frame. Myself and Alicia in particular, we're trained organizers. We are trained Marxists. We are super versed on ideological theories." I can only find quotes but not the video. Anyone see this?
  16. Homer, that looks great. And don’t worry about the 3yo daughter’s behavior too much. I think 3 is a hard age with girls, it’s like the terrible twos on steroids. It should improve when she’s 4. Anyway...back to the project... that gives me inspiration to do something with my side. I’m not sure what just yet because it needs to be regraded. However, having grass on the side yard is BS. If you look at other geographies, it’s usually something utilitarian like a sidewalk.
  17. USAA Youth Accounts offer easy integration with your accounts. You can even setup a login for children 13 and older plus customize their access to view or to be able to transfer money. They also have a lot of different alerting options for low balances and whatnot. What sucks is their lack of interest rates. I have a kid who’s saved up enough that it warrants getting an account that yields something.
  18. Looking for recs for small (2L-5L) waterproof dry bags that float. We’ll mostly use for tubing, kayaking and will keep essentials (phones, key fobs, wallets) so it really needs to be waterproof. Also looking for a rec for waterproof phone pouches that float. Thanks in advance, WC
  19. How about 1/2”-1” Fairland Pink gravel? I think that would give you the look you want and stay in place. Material cost should be similar to pea gravel ($50-$60/yard). If you have a wheel barrow, a decent back and easy access to the site, this isn’t a bad DIY. You could have the gravel delivered by someone like a geogrowers, get the pavers and the border at Home Depot. DIY would run you $500 to $600 and take about a day depending on access. Again not a bad DIY, just depends if you view it as exercise or work below your pay grade. Either way, post pics when it’s done.
  20. how high up? If it’s high, not worth risk of injury imo. ~15 years ago, I installed my current set of gutters for like $600 in Home Depot materials. A friend helped, was a 2 man job. It wasn’t bad but it did get tedious. I didn’t have $3k so I DIY and have no regrets. Gutters still work well and have held up but they have seams which don’t look as nice, and those now have some drips. They’re made of steel and so there is some rust. I do want to replace them now though. It’s time to paint the exterior and the screws have causes some rot on the 1x (one by) under the shingle in a couple of spots. That being said, I will not DIY again. A pro will do a better job, they’ll be seamless which will look better, and they use aluminum which won’t rust. If you DIY, I recommend using hangers that go under the gutters instead of punching holes at the top of the gutter and using the massive screws.
