  1. Awesome change up right there for a big K.
  2. Stewie suddenly in a funk. Let's hope it's brief.
  3. All I'm sure of is that the media specialize in recency bias. They just saw us look inept against the defending national champs, and I'd have been shocked to see them not vote accordingly. Exhausted or not, you don't throw weak trash at the rim all game and not get punished for it. We flunked the eyeball test. Might not be fair, but we'll have to deal with it.
  4. Dude just ran a wind-aided 10.33 at 220 pounds. Serious wind, but also a serious time. Shows a 4.39 40 on his X profile. Not seeing a Texas offer, but hopefully we at least have a close eye on him.
  5. When you're a halfcourt team getting throttled by good athletes, you'd better be able to come up with some transition buckets and occasional off-platform points when sets break down. We honestly don't have that kind of freewheeling scorer, which is why Chavez would be such a key part of the future. I don't know as much about Crump but am hopeful she also can loosen things up. As noted, though, it all has to be done within the framework of what Vic will allow.
  6. We can afford giving up some offense for solid defense against inferior teams. But not once the clear formula for defending us is out there and we're facing teams with ample firepower. With opponents sagging into a zone, Holle has to score in transition and hit at least a third of her threes. Great Longhorn, but she has to be MUCH more effective through the rest of March. Of course, Holle's not the only one. Nobody really looked that good on offense today. Staley told her D to simply ignore Harmon, and we saw how that turned out. Just a discouraging overall team effort, even if partly due to fatigue. We didn't give up all that many points, but I thought we had major issues on D. Whether mainly because we were exhausted or simply facing superior athletes, we were regularly getting beaten one on one. I know Vic detests the zone, but if you're always losing drivers on high screens (whether switching or not) and giving up a parade of layups, you simply have to try something else. Especially when tired, we just aren't quick enough to stay in front of good ball handlers driving off the wings. Burned time and again, leading to layups and/or fouls. I think we're somewhere between the third and sixth best team in the land. Hope we prove to be better than that, but it will take a real surge in our play to change my mind.
  7. Except for Jones, our starters all had to play huge minutes against Old Miss and LSU the past two days. Not much left in the tank today, as was apparent from the start. Very different from the situation when we played SCar in Austin.
  8. Vic says she doesn't get tired. Based on her shooting, I beg to differ.
  9. We weren't exhausted, for one. Everyone played better.
  10. When you have numbers in transition and then your 5-3 PG still gets stymied under the basket, there's not much good to say. Meanwhile, 50-50 balls are about 90-10. We're getting crushed by a deeper, better team.
  11. I've never been as certain a 3 would fall as I was right there. We'd have trouble making one in an empty gym.
  12. Shay really does rhyme with Tre.
  13. I'm not sure any serious Texas fan expects a national title this season. Hopefully it happens once another solid wave of talent is added. With our clear offensive woes, this season we'll do well to make the Final Four. In short, for now we're almost the UH men's program, getting by more on coaching and defensive grit than anything else.
  14. When you can't make a shot, and the other team can't miss, it's easy to look inept.
  15. We might as well go zone if we can't stay in front of any of their drivers.
  16. Sit Jak until further notice. She's still a giraffe on roller skates.
  17. Too often this sad pattern repeats itself. It won't improve much without an infusion of offensive talent on the wings and point.
  18. Aside from not seeming to remember that the orange thing is supposed to go through that metal circle thing, I guess we look fair.
  19. Love Carlton's potential. At times it's painfully clear she's not going all out, which doesn't cut it with Vic. That said, she really needs to stay, because she has so much talent around the basket on both ends. I wonder if simply dropping a few pounds might help her quickness and stamina without sacrificing strength on the boards. Maybe be she's still growing into her body. If so, this offseason will be key.
  20. I'm trying to remember the last Texas coaching situation this bad. All signs point to Charlie Strong, who from the start showed ominous signs of being in over his head. Compared to RT, even David Pierce was an acclaimed leader of young men. CDC obviously won't let this embarrassment go on, nor should he. I just wish there were a better pool of strong candidates to pick from.
  21. True. But making a lot more of our jumpers in a grind-it-out type of game would have given us a much easier win and presumably let us rest our starters a bit. Anyway, a discussion for 2026.
  22. Always happy to win. Tremendous team effort for 40 minutes. But I'll admit it was hard to watch another long-range brickfest and not long for a certain guard from Lubbock.
  23. When you have literally one player who can score, I don't care how injured the opponent is...you're going to have to claw your way to a W. This is just pathetic.
  24. Need another dose of Preston shortly.
  25. LSU knows that once the ball dumps in low, our bigs aren't passing. Collapse and grab thus makes sense, I guess.
