Aside from that big walkoff hit, I'd say his becoming strictly a memory is my favorite memory.

And not just this year. Fans can rag on him if they wish, and I get it sometimes...but Dubon started paying dividends the season we got him and still does. Every title team needs a Swiss Army knife, and I'd much prefer to keep him around.

Maybe the season comes down largely to this: Do we get a full, healthy season out of Arch? If not, how long is he out, and against whom? Baxter's health is the next question, but at RB we've shown we can get it done by committee if need be. Doesn't work that way at QB.

I'd be thrilled to find out that's the last K McCormick has a chance to produce in a Houston uniform. He's no longer a major leaguer.

What would prompt the Pilkingtons to name their son Konnor? To distinguish him from the many Connor Pilkingtons out there? Good grief.

No clue. So it will become a smaller lead and let Hader qualify for a save?

Whitcomb and Short's ABs make Roger Metzger look like Robin Yount. And that's hard to do.

Armor these guys up like Biggio and have them crowd the plate. Oh, and don't swing. They really couldn't do worse and likely would get on base every couple games.

Wait until you get to help the orthodontist pay off that new Audi.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
I really hope we get Benjamin and Lee. Both megastars in the making. Might as well add Kreul, too. Lanning, Moore and Venables can all go straight to Antarctica and stay there. Oh, and speaking of...no discussion of '80s freakout flicks should omit this bad boy. Its R rating was deserved.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
Perfect segue into a classic from the good ol' days. Gather 'round, kids, and let dear Uncle Walt and his team warp you for life. Who but Disney could weave such abject terror into lighthearted animation for the whole family?- Houston Astros 2025 Season Thread
Valdez is pitching magnificently, but to what end? I'd feel better about keeping him if he'd always lit it up in October and I believed we'd somehow regain enough offense to still be playing then. He and Brown at least give us a puncher's chance in any series. Staying on the topic of hypotheticals, if we get multiple bats back within the next month but then don't make the playoffs, would you dump Espada? I'd be tempted, even if there's a sound argument that months of collective injuries were just too much for any manager to overcome. His lineups and bullpen decisions continue to puzzle, and right now they need to be perfect every night.- Houston Astros 2025 Season Thread
Walker nearly cracked 40 on the exit velo. That's my slugging 1B. Is there a maximum number of guys you can DFA in a day? Serious question.- Houston Astros 2025 Season Thread
Bad HPU work (not a shock) on Dubon's AB, but let's face it: you finally get your first two guys of the inning on but then don't score, somebody's not earning his check. Diaz is a decent hitter but can be an absolute beating at the worst times and hasn't progressed at the plate. Disappointing for a guy who once seemed a star in the making.- Houston Astros 2025 Season Thread
This stretch brings to mind some of the old Dome days, when the NL was full of great pitchers and we couldn't hit a piñata with our eyes open. Right now I'd take the Rockies to sweep us...at sea level.- Houston Astros 2025 Season Thread
So we're going to have to score AGAIN? Ugh. This is a tall mountain to climb.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
I didn't think we'd let this kid commit, and I was happy thinking we'd moved on. But now that Browne has reopened a recruitment I never even knew was closed, I'm offended.- Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen

Just saw on the MLB site that we rank 7th among suitors for Suarez. Not that we don't need him right now, but the suggestion is that because we've won a couple rings in the past 8 years, we aren't as desperate as some other contenders. Didn't realize we'd quit trying to compete, though since around the AS break it appears maybe we have. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-trade-deadline-2025-eugenio-suarez-trade-suitors (Edit: Note that I'm not suggesting we're even in the market for another 3B to plug in this season. We really don't have assets to spend anyway. But if the complacency hinted at in this piece is real, that's troubling on another front.) - Texas Recruiting Notes 2026: Boulevard of Broken Bagmen
