Opposing pitchers can be tricky to assess for one obvious reason: They don't face the same lineups. As phenomenally as TK pitched this week, how would Canady have fared against her own teammates instead of the firepower we threw out there? Would our lineup have hit TK better than Tech's did? Was Cat better than either of them? Such questions make for long and inconclusive historical debates, but in the end it doesn't matter. Just glad we came out on the happy end of this epic duel.
When have a 1-trick pony, eventually it doesn't matter how great the trick is...you either have to add another trick or find a new audience. Glasco wasn't in position to do either last night.
Logical. And maybe that happens. But with Henry in CF, along with expected additions to the IF, I suspect next year we'll see Stewie in LF a ton. She might never have a defensive inning to match the 7th last night (who ever does?), but I'd be surprised if her arm and courage don't keep her out there. That big bat is a given.
So Impressive. With two knees she might actually have done it.
Seriously, I can't imagine Mia's right knee is mangled, but still. The fact she didn't appear to even favor it is one of the wildest things I've seen in athletic competition. Move it on over, Kerri Strug.
She's the embodiment of "all gas, no brakes." Total demon on the basepaths. I've lamented her lack of bunting at times, as it takes nearly perfect defense to keep her off base...but hopefully we'll see more of that next year. An underrated weapon on a team full of firepower.
Still ruminating on what all transpired tonight. And that was a lot. I'm sure a lot of more cogent thoughts will come, but for now I just know I'm going to sleep much better than I did after Game 2.
