  1. I'd have Montero on a short leash here.
  2. With the sporadic nature of GPS these days, it's all too common to think you're heading to College Station when in reality your course is taking you ever nearer Lubbock.
  3. Hitting five of their guys might not be any record, but it's up there. What a cluster of a game.
  4. Guess that's how Wander got his name.
  5. "Strike out or score a run" is a rather binary approach.
  6. Korey Lee wouldn't have called for that slider.
  7. Decent trade. Graveman should help us now: Lee couldn't/wouldn't. In the heat of a pennant race with a veteran team, that's about as deeply as I care to analyze it.
  8. Kelly to the Rangers was my hope, as that would have increased our chances of being the ones to eliminate him. But I'm OK with him back in LA.
  9. He's hitting the ball much too hard. Needs to spray some of those 50 mph flares like the Rangers did earlier in the series.
  10. I wouldn't say we were "due" for one of these. But maybe we were.
  11. Works for me if it does Valdez. Maldonado's lack of offense is also (theoretically) easier to get around when he's catching your ace.
  12. But he might well make a game-saving throw. Not like we haven't seen it.
  13. It's definitely better than theirs, and France has been efficient to this point. We'll see if any of that actually bears fruit.
  14. Ranger starter has already thrown 44 pitches. They're down by 2 and can't count on much from their putrid, overworked bullpen. All of this I find highly gruntling.
  15. For the first time since the sojourns of La Salle, tomorrow we need a headline that reads, "France Takes Texas."
  16. A sharp slider thrown just off the outside corner at the knees is obviously one of the very toughest pitches to handle. Unfortunately, for some guys it's also among the most tempting. Altuve spent a decade trying to prove they're hittable and generally failing. Now Pena's taken up the quest. I doubt such problems are fixable during the season, but every day over the winter he should be looking at hundreds of low-and-away sliders in the cage. At some point, for a young guy with athletic ability that pitch has to get easier to recognize and resist.
  17. Average 2022 home game attendance: Texas: 100,242 (100.12% of capacity) Little brother: 97,213 (94.63% of capacity)
  18. Interesting player value rankings and ratings. Provided Pena remains an Astro (not really my desire, but it is what it is), I really hope he steps up his game a couple notches. And soon. He and Bregman easily could be the difference between now and November.
  19. Slow year. Even hitting 500 seems doubtful without multiple 5 stars dragging it out until February...plus a combined flurry by Carl, Danger Snax, The Bot and Higdon.
  20. I didn't catch the video. Did Chas take off his jersey after the Chapman dinger? If not, I'm sure someone assumes he was wired.
