  1. The Gangster of Love is gonna play football at USC?
  2. x2 all of this. Considering he's an obvious redshirt candidate and won't, nor shouldn't, be expected to play early, it's all good.
  3. Sure. But it's one of those "people who live in glass doublewides shouldn't throw the first stone" situations.
  4. So I went down a Tom Petty hole and searched Tom Petty threads and came across this one. Seemed as good a time as any to watch one of my favorite performances ever. I think my favorite part of the video is at 4:58 when Prince gives TP a look like "I know that shit I already did was pretty cool, but wait till you see what's next, Tom" with an absolute shit-eating grin on his face. Anyway, I figure no one will complain about necro-bumping this thread and watching this.
  5. And he's got a tackle so he occasionally gets playing time as well. Which is wild...
  6. Haastrup is listed at 235. Mbatchou is listed at 280. Right now. Not the same physical profile. Not the same position. Apples. Oranges.
  7. Haastrup's an EDGE and Mbatchou's an interior DL. Apples to oranges.
  8. Does anyone have a good volunteering resource? I've had an absolute shit year. One year ago I did some stupid shit and got drunk and said some jealous petty bullshit to my life-long best friend, and now we no longer speak to each other. Totally my fault. I don't blame him for not speaking to me, but I am very sad that he won't accept my apology. The end of that friendship feels like a mini-death. Last April I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and that was a fairly significant disruption of my lifestyle. I've had to change how I eat, exercise, and generally live my life. It's actually required me to eat and live healthier, but it's still a degenerative disease that I will have to manage for the rest of my life. Then a month ago, after 13 years with the company, I got laid off. The company was purchased two years ago and after a constant reorg, they eliminated my position (along with another co-worker in our department). I worked in a very niche and highly-specialized industry, so there aren't a lot of jobs for which I'm readily-qualified. I'm probably looking at some sort of career change at 46, which is terrifying. Looking for a new job has been a soul crushing kick to the dick. I'm drinking too much. I need to reconcile the reasons that I drink too much and better understand the "why". My drinking has negatively impacted my life a few times (see best-friend above) and that cannot continue to happen. I am going to read the book cited above "this naked mind" and intentionally address my relationship with alcohol. It's time. This has all taken a heavy toll on my mental health, and subsequently my interpersonal relationships. My mother pulled me aside this weekend and said "what's going on with you? you're not well. I've never seen you this sad and angry." My wife has been distant. While all of this stuff has "happened" to me, it's also impacted her, and I need to be more empathetic of that, but it's difficult to do so when I've constantly been "woe is me"-ing for the last year. I go to a therapist but I'm finding that it's not particularly productive. I'm not one to go into therapy and fully unload in a way that's honest, transparent, and forthright. She's not picking up on the context clues I'm giving her, the conversation isn't organic, so we just kind of go in circles. I know I need to find a new therapist, but I keep going to this one for now because I know that I need accountability of self-reflection every other week. But my insurance runs out at the end of the month and with the money well drying up here shortly, I likely won't be able to afford a good one out-of-pocket. So anyway, with all this time I have, I think it's a good idea to do some volunteer work with people who are in need. My hope is that it will provide some perspective and allow me to focus more on the things in my life for which I should be grateful rather than obsessing on the negative things that have happened to me over the last year. So if anyone has a specific place they volunteer and recommend, please PM me. Or if you have a general resource that can provide a few options, let me know.
  9. Agree. But every year GMs talk themselves into drafting QBs in the top 10 despite tons of red flags and only about 40% of them historically shaking out (and I think that's a generous percentage, as the metrics I've seen used are "won a playoff game" or "made a pro bowl", neither of which are indicators of sustained success)
  10. And no Vince Young...
  11. Shut. The. Fuck. Up! Or take this dumb discussion here:
  12. It will be interesting if it comes down to Ewers and Milroe, a guy that was committed to Texas for like a year before we went after Ewers and he flipped to Bama. It almost feels like fate.
  13. My buddies from Chicago were in a band called Sybris in the 00's and they recently reunited to record a new album. First link is a new track. Second link is an old one.
  14. The challenge for Ewers is that the Heisman is as much about accumulating statistics as it is winning big games and being a Quarterback. Milroe has played every game, accounted for 18 touchdowns in four games, passed for 964 yards with only 1 interception, ran for 273. And on the biggest stage of the season so far, he passed for 374 and two touchdowns and ran for 117 and two touchdowns to lead his team to the number one ranking. Another thing hurting Quinn is that when he went down, his backup QB statistically outperformed him. So some voters may ask "Is Quinn good, or is it Sark and the system?" He'll have an opportunity to get back in the race if he shines against OU, Georgia, and in the SEC Championship game.
  15. This is why. Not a terrible opinion.
  16. Best practice is to shoot the bad guy reaching for his gun before they're actively killing people instead of after they've started killing people.
  17. Saw that yesterday and initially thought the same thing. But the second tweet says dude who got shot had a 9mm handgun he was trying to pull from his waistband when he was approached by the cop. It's tough to tell from the video though. Cops suck. But if you're driving a stolen vehicle, and then you pull a gun on a cop, you're gonna get shot.
  18. Hudson doesn't fit the profile of who they're looking for out of a portal WR - 1) Speed - he ain't fast. 2) Proven production - he ain't done shit.
  19. A "Hi" is for a silent commit. Since silent commits are bullshit and meaningless, so are "Hi"s. That'll be $9.95 please.
