  1. Fucking love Jimmie Dale. Some of my buddies were staying with me for SXSW as their band was doing a bunch of shows, and we met him at Polvo's. I only fanboy'd out a tiny bit. His wife (I think?) asked if we knew him from the Big Lebowski. I said that while I am familiar with Smokey, that we were actually fans of the Flatlanders. A few years later I saw the Flatlanders at the Paramount. It was kind of a roundtable situation and Joe Ely ended up taking Dallas, which really pissed me off, as I wanted to hear Jimmie Dale sing that one.

I grow to love this band more and more each passing year. Their career is fucking remarkable. The thing that's most impressive to me is that they've been doing this for almost 30 years now, and they continue to put out fantastic new records that don't feel like they're trying to recreate what has been previously successful, but instead feel like an organic evolution of their own unique sound. Seriously, how many bands that have been around for 30 years put out a record as good as Lucifer on the Sofa? And they haven't released a single stinker. Some are better than others, but nothing they've ever put out is bad. There's no fucking Spaghetti Incident here. So impressive. Anyway, here's my favorite song by them:
  3. OK. Well, that's just as dumb, but at least I understand the dumb point now.
  4. I don't understand the point he's trying to make. He thinks Jahdae will be good for a year. But will then suck. Because reasons?
  5. Nothing's gonna change. Except for the half of you that will get laid off. And the other half of you will be expected to do the jobs of the people that have been laid off. But other than that, nothing's gonna change.
  6. I watched Braveheart for, I think, the first time since I originally saw it back when it came out in 94. It does not hold up nearly as well as I expected. There were a bunch of very corny, comic relief scenes that didn't work. I've always lumped it in with Gladiator, as they're both period pieces about a warrior who is driven to redeem the murder of his wife by a tyrant. But I can rewatch Gladiator 100 times. I'll never watch Braveheart again. Can't believe it won best picture. That being said, I remember thinking it was great when it first came out.
  7. that looks awesome. Coincidentally, I tried to do al pastor on a rotisserie attachment on Saturday night. I used a small 3lb pork shoulder, sliced it to about 1/3 inch thickness, threaded it through the rotisserie teeth and put it on the grill. As the connective fat rendered, about half the meat fell off into the grill. Any advice on how to keep the pork secure? It looks like you might have sliced it thicker, which might give it a better chance of staying secure? I think I'm just going to buy a vertical spit and cook it offset on my weber kettle.
  8. I always picture him kinda like this
  9. For a "normal" prospect, that's true. Arch isn't a normal prospect.
  10. Nah. If he blew a 0.0, and was just speeding with a legal vape pen, it sounds like he got railroaded by a shitty cop. Not ideal judgment, but to me this is a big fucking nothingburger. And as always:
  11. Or maybe, we're just fucking awesome at everything.
  12. It had to have been a legal (for now) delta 9 THC pen, as possession of marijuana oil concentrate in any amount is a felony in the state of Texas. That being said, seems like he could have received a ticket for a Minor in Possession of a controlled substance, or whatever it's called, as you have to be 21 to buy that shit.
  13. That's some high-level trolling from the official Texas baseball account. Vicious.
  14. I'm assuming the pen was (for now, legal) Delta 9 THC, and not marijuana, as possession of marijuana oil in concentrate in any amount is a felony. He still could get a ticket for underage possession of a controlled substance, or something similar, as you have to be 21 to buy that shit. I'm not a lawyer. Either way, the DUI smells like bullshit.
  15. This is the most "national" class I can remember since I've been following recruiting since 2000. In Gerry's best-class scenario, there are 39 players from out of state and 17 players from in-state. Hell, there are 11 players from Georgia alone.
  16. That is 100% bullshit. I ate two to three hot dogs a week the ten years I lived there. Two dogs and a side of fries is a fantastic and cheap lunch. And there is a dog stand in every neighborhood in the city. Don’t even get me started on pizza puffs.
  17. Collins and Mukuba should be locks to go today. Williams, Broughton, Ewers, Bond, Helm and Blue have good shots to go today. I’d bet at least three, more likely four of those go today. The rest are tomorrow or udfa.
  18. Ned Ryerson, played by Dallas native Stephen Tobolowsky: Stephen Tobolowsky also played in a band called A Cast of Thousands, which had two songs, "Red, White and Blue" and "I Heard a Voice Last Night", on a compilation of local Dallas bands called A New Hi. Both of these songs featured Steve Vaughan on guitar, who would be later known as Stevie Ray Vaughan.[9]
  19. They also have the Predators.
  20. I read that we've never signed an OL out of the portal since Sark and Flood got here. Any insight into the impetus behind this apparent reconsideration? Is it a philosophical change, a perceived hole that needs to be filled, someone who is too talented to pass on?
  21. Finally watched episode 2. Fuck Abby. I hated the character immediately. It’s also absurd that a bunch of extra military men would follow around a 4’11” girl who makes dumb-ass emotional decisions and doesn’t have a plan for anything. Ugh. She’s the worst. I hope she does a terrible death.
  22. I'm leaning a little heavy into the "seen them win a MNC" qualifier. Their last MNC was in 1939, which was 86 years ago. Since they didn't play live sporting events on television in 1939, they would have had to have been at the game. At what age do you start to retain memories? 5 years old? So I guess there could potentially be a 91 year old guy out there that went to the national championship game and remembers how great it was. So yeah. I guess it's possible. But not likely.
  23. There is not one living aggy that saw them win their last MNC in a real sport.
