  1. Buffon had just made a really good save seconds before. Juve's D is just not the same at all without Bonucci. Still though, Ronaldinho's toe-poke against Chelsea was otherworldly. I don't think I will ever have as much fun watching a player as I did watching Ronaldinho those two seasons at Barcelona when he was just otherworldly.
  2. For real. I bet that the food is cheaper too. So you get half price lift tickets, cheaper food(rather than the $23-30 per person meals at ski towns in the US), probably cheaper lodging, probably cheaper rentals too, and only have to cover the more expensive plane tickets. The only reason Utah is probably cheaper for me is because I have a free place to stay, usually can use my Brother-In-Law's equipment since he both skis and boards, and instead of $100+/day lift tickets for one mountain I only have to pay $85/day for Brighton.
  3. That pricing is insanely good compared to US. I'm lucky if I'm paying less than $90 in off season on American mountains, lol. Much less at destination ski resorts, like anything run by Epic or Ikon. Ugh, why are the sports I like so expensive in The US. A week of skiing will run you 1k plus, Road and Mountain biking are both pretty expensive to buy the equipment and gear, ticket prices to sporting events are 2x the cost in Europe...
  4. Yeah, The Premier League is massively overrated. Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern wouldn't have any more difficulty in England than they do in Spain and Germany. PSG would be right up there with City this season. And I don't think mid table that England is any stronger than Spain and Germany either. Last season was the first time in how many years that a Spanish team didn't win both European cups? Teams in the Premier League run a lot and its a more physical game, but they dont have nearly the skill of Spain league wide, and Germany is just as competitive when you take Bayern out of the picture. But like I said Bayern would be just as dominant in England as they are in Germany, so IMO you cant discredit The Bundesliga for not measuring up to Bayern when The PL wouldn't either most seasons. The Premier League also doesn't have the Star power of Spain. There is only one player in England who would start in every single squad in Europe right now, and that's Kevin De Bruyne. The rest, and that includes Mo Salah and Eden Hazard, are great players but wouldnt see time on either of the Spanish giants or possibly not even for Bayern and PSG. In Spain Kroos, Modric, Carvahal, Cristiano, Messi, Busquets, Sergio Ramos, all would start on literally every team in the world. Lewandowski(the only striker better than Luis Suarez right now, IMO) and Neuer are on that level, and a good case can be made for Thiago and David Alaba IMO. Tactics wise, Italy is probably the most diverse ranging from lock down defensive teams that are the stereotypical Italian squad to wide open attacking teams like Napoli and Lazio. And the Madrid result notwithstanding, Juve is still a monster both with and without the ball that is having as good a season as anyone in England outside maybe City.
  5. Fuck me, that looks amazing. I'm conversational in Italian, so I can read most of it. After 2 months back in Italy i would probably be close to fluency, but I can't take that time. I think that 5 days around New Years would be my time table. Like 28/12-02/1. I don't know how the snow is during that time but being about to start law school that is probably the only time when my calendar would actually be open. And I'd probably make it a 10-day trip with a few days in Rome to visit family.
  6. I was thinking Val Di Fiemme because it's where my family over there have mentioned going to ski. Also, I've always wanted to go to the Dolomites and it's one of the few areas I've never been in Italy. I'm open to skiing all over Italy, but Val Di Fiemme seems like a good destination and base camp. Yeah, I'm familiar with off-piste skiing. My favorite runs in Utah and Colorado are usually off-piste. I don't do the big extreme terrain, never done cliff work, but I'm comfortable in powder, over bumps, and in ~30º slopes. My go-to destination right now is Big Cottonwood Canyon in SLC because my sister lives there and has a Brighton ski pass so I get free lodging, and Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon also have the best snow quality and volume of almost anywhere I've ever been on usual years. Brighton has a lot of open areas where you can dip into off-piste areas even on the easier stuff, which is one of my favorite things about it. I also absolutely love being above the tree line, which is pretty hard to do in The US. Gotta be super high or really close to the coast. Only done it in Telluride and Whistler/Blackcomb. So it seems European skiing is more of what I already like. I've never done Snowbird, which I hear is absolutely amazing, but I plan on hitting it for a last trip of the season in a week or two. And they still have 93in of snow over there which is crazy for April from my experience. Last year apparently they got over 100in in Big and Little Cottonwood after Brighton and Solitude had already closed closed, and Snowbird was powder heaven since it stays open the longest. Anyways, I hear that Snowbird is also pretty much totally ungroomed and only minimally maintained, which sounds awesome to me, so seems like Europe is my kind of skiing.
  7. Maybe in England the burgers are so bad that McD's is actually decent relatively.
  8. Yeah, I totally understand why Pep would chose to go out that way but I clearly didn't come off. Our midfield was all over the place and as much as Liverpool's press had to do with that it was also largely because the midfield didn't know where they were supposed to be. In the times where we were able to get things forward we allowed Liverpool to compact the game because we didn't have a wide player on the right for them to respect. Walker tried his best but without a winger out wide there was just nothing doing on that side, and him being forced to get so far forward was a big reason why he ended up probably having his worst match in a City shirt. Still though, Pep's 2nd half changes really opened things up. Without Sane having a shocking match and Silva being off with his touch we would probably have scored a goal or two, so Pep didn't have an all out mare tactically. All respect to TAA for really working well and doing well to keep him from cutting inside too often, but Sane was misplacing every damn pass all game regardless of where TAA was and was overly selfish on multiple occasions.
  9. Someone call UEFA. That sounds like a FFP violation to me.
  10. I think Ox would do well in any system. His sort of work rate and tenacity along with his final ball being pretty good and his mindset of wanting to keep things simple and not out-play himself is something that would fit in with every team in the league. Not saying he's world class. He isn't a superstar and doesn't have anything he is otherworldly at, but he does a lot of things well and almost nothing poorly.
  11. I feel bad for Conte. I don't think his management has been bad, but Chelsea's front office just did such bad a job in the transfer market that I don't think he stood a chance. Most clubs I would say it's the manager's fault for not identifying the right targets, but Chelsea run things so differently with Marina Granovskaia having so much direct control of the transfers. It's clear that their big scouting guy, Michael Emenalo, leaving was a massive blow that still hasn't been rectified. With Conte, I think he has been trying to figure out something to fix their midfield, but replacing Matic with Bakayoko meant that they didn't have a DM to drop in between the CBs and act as a Pivot. Kante is great but he is always all over the pitch, and Bakayoko is a Box-to-Box. Going to a 3-man midfield instead of the 2-man midfield still doesn't quite work because there isn't any stability. Maybe if he used Cesc the way that Ancelotti used Pirlo at Milan as a regista with 3 DMs in front of him, but Chelsea dont have a 4th midfielder right now either. The club just put Conte in a shit situation this season.
  12. Hey, you ever do much skiing at Val Di Fiemme? It's a trip I've always wanted to take but never have really had the chance. Thinking maybe next December/January I might want to take a New Year's trip to Italy and check it out. It looks amazing but I also cant tell based on the map if the runs are short or if the ski area is just massive. I've also never skied in Europe, so I don't know how it compares to Colorado and Utah.
  13. So, am I crazy for thinking that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is one of the most underrated players in the prem? I'm a City fan so I dont have rose-tinted glasses and don't see him every week, but everytime I take the time to watch him he seems to really put in a shift. He is like everything that everyone said Milner was for us (and I guess for Liverpool too) with his work rate and how much ground he covers but with much more skill and end product. And he has an underrated final ball. Honestly, I think it was really dumb of Arsenal and of Arsne Wenger to let him leave rather than giving him a chance at being in midfield, because even before he left I always saw him as a real threat and a key player for them. Now in the last 2 games we've played against Liverpool both him and Firmino have been the two biggest threats against our defense.
  14. As a City supporter, I wasn't surprised but I was totally disappointed. Liverpool and Klopp deserve a ton of credit, but Pep putting Gundogan in at RW in the first half totally out-coached himself. The midfield had no idea where their team mates were because everyone was shifted around, and how you beat a press like Liverpool's is by playing as a collective unit and having an almost 6th sense as to where your teammates are to pick out a pass and get through. Still though, the way we played in the 2nd half we should have gotten a goal or two, but Sane was having a shocker and David was pretty off it. If Klopp comes out and goes all-out defensive in the 2nd leg I think City have a shot at going through. As amazing as the result was for Liverpool, they need to keep pressing and probably get one away goal to be assured of going into the semi's. And even though I'm a City fan, I'm saying that pretty impartially.
  15. That was a brutal 20min stretch, kinda like our brutal 9min stretch last game. Fair play to Liverpool but Pep out-coached himself by putting Gundogan out wide for the first half. His halftime adjustments were good enough that we should have probably scored twice with how dominant we were in the 2nd half but Sane was having a shocker and David looked pretty off it. Oh well, on to win the league next match.
  16. I don't remember. I haven't logged onto the shag since 2009, I think.
  17. Thank god theyre ending tomorrow
  18. I think Sterling will play, since he was fit for England. Bernardo is a damn good player for a backup though. e: Just saw Sterling has a bug. Hopefully he'll be better but if not I wouldn't mind seeing Bernardo start. IMO Sterling is quite a bit better than Bernardo for the role we have them play. And just overall. Bernardo is much more a wide midfielder than a winger right now. IMO he is so much like David Silva was when David first came to City. That's not to say I don't rate Bernardo. Bernardo is amazing and does some crazy stuff and might have the best first touch in European football, but Sterling does so many things so well. I want to see Bernardo play more in midfield, but if Isco is happening this summer that might not happen.
  19. As a fellow Italian fuck Gian Piero Ventura. Fucking treasonous bitch. Always a shit manager and should have never been given the job. Italy had one of the most complete squads too and with competent management could have been expected to be at least a quarterfinalist team.
  20. Beaver Creek is pretty cool but yeah, really pricey. I was there last year. I think that I like Brek best of the i70 hills. Telluride is my favorite resort in Colorado though, its just a trek to get to.
  21. Who y'all got as your XI for the trip to Goodison? I'm thinking Pep won't have any surprises, and will start the strongest XI so that there isnt any slow start to the Liverpool game midweek. Ederson Walker, Kompany, Otamendi, Danilo De Bruyne, Fernandinho, Silva Sterling, Jesus, Sane City 3 - 1 Everton
  22. I would like to see Newcastle stay up, and Rafa get the investment he needs to bring them back to top-10 finishes. St. James' Park is one of my favorite Premier League venues and when Newcastle is good the atmosphere there is one of if not the best in England.
  23. Probably gonna go to Academy and pick out a new T-shirt before the first home game. It's something I do every season.
  24. What should I say instead? Dilutedness? A large part of mixing a cocktail is how much you dilute the spirit. Don’t delude yourself as to your own linguistic capability 😉.
  25. Y’all gonna go out to the tour this summer? I was at the matches in Houston and Nashville. Last summer. Gonna try to make every one I can this summer.
