  1. I think all we learned is that Keilan for sure isn't RB1. Brooks was good and Baxter was at a high school all star game last night. Yes, none of them were as good as Bijan, but expecting any of them to look like Bijan in their first game as a starter is a Message Board Genius level hot take.
  2. See, this is the type of shit that proves that this board just wants to bitch and moan without any understanding of how things really work. Sark has personally recruited an elite swiss army knife in Keilan, arguably the top RB in Texas in Blue, and the best RB in the country in Baxter (not to mention holding on to Brooks right after getting hired). There are conclusions to be drawn from last night, but "Sark has not recruited players talented enough to immediately resemble the two most talented football players on the roster" is... exactly what I would expect from you.
  3. Am I the only one not totally despondent over the game last night? This isn't meant as some glowing review of Sark or anything, but it kinda feels like everyone is using the loss as a conduit to spew whatever preconceived criticisms they had in the chamber, regardless of whether or not they actually applied to the performance. Objectively, we were facing a team that will finish (and start next season) as one of the ten best in the country. Objectively, we were a run heavy team without our top two RBs. Objectively, we were facing a QB who was starting games in college before our QB had ever taken a snap in high school. Objectively, we were missing the QB of our defense, a dude who will be only the third Longhorn LB to get drafted in a decade, against the top passing team in the nation. I know what the line said, but objectively, we were the underdog going into last night. Anyone acting like this is an inexplicable loss (of which admittedly Sark has plenty!) to a garbage team is just venting and not dealing with reality. A valid criticism of Sark has been that he develops a great script to start the game and cannot adjust after that. That was not true last night, our second half offense was much more effective than how we started. I'm not smart enough to know if it was simply Quinn playing better or if there was a material difference in the play-calling, but either way this was a welcome development that we did not see earlier this season. The Quinn/offense we saw in the second half wins the Oklahoma State and TCU games, period. There were obviously some negatives. The sense of urgency in the fourth quarter was not good. I'm tempted to chalk that up to a freshman QB, but that will need to improve. We also need to hire a football nerd purely to figure out why we can't stop 3rd and long. Xavier Worthy's stock is falling faster than Tesla. I don't know who was out there in the 41 jersey last night, but I hope someone has an update on Jaylan Ford's whereabouts. You can argue that the performance on the field is below whatever you consider the standards of Texas football to be, and... sure, whatever. But that's the kind of thinking that results in a new coach every 3 years and a decade and a half of shit. Last year we had an abomination of a defense and were blown out in almost as many games as we won. This year, our defense is legitimately a strength and we never lost by more than a score. There are signs of improvement with both the coaching staff and some of the key pieces for next year. These are the kinds of seasons that, historically, exist between a team going from dogshit to contender and now it's up to Sark to take the next step. If we still look like this in a year, then sign me up for your pity party.
  4. "Gain of function" has become one of those terms, much like "Benghazi" and "dossier", where my brain just shuts off when I hear it. Some of you might be making decent points, but the loud morons have forever tainted the discourse and made it impossible for me to assume anyone discussing the issue is doing so in good faith.
  5. I think I've come full circle. This guy fucking rules and I want him to be emperor of the United States.
  6. Can we take a moment and appreciate how fortunate we are that a prediction of 93 wins can (correctly) be viewed as a slap in the face? I love this team.
  7. The funny part here is how EVERYONE made the connection. Sure, it makes sense for those of us with an already negative view of Elon to associate the two, but even Ben Shapiro whined about Rian Johnson being mean to Elon. But there's no obvious reference in the movie: no funny play on his name, no reference to electric vehicles or a space program or tunnels... we simply are presented with an unintelligent, unlikable, egotistical billionaire who got rich off of other people's ideas and the entire universe was like "oh, obviously that's Elon."
  8. You’ll likely get some bites if you move this thread to the Daily Texan forum.
  9. Riley Longo Mullen Petrino Huard Grubb I know there’s been more that have turned them down, who am I missing?
  10. Are you asking if we could have gotten the best catching prospect in baseball for Jake Meyers and some junk?
  11. Do you... do you guys think your program is in a better place than USC?
  12. Oh my god, holy shit. You're serious. I thought this was all an act, but you guys really believe Venables is the dude. Hahahahahaha Mass exodus of players, embarrassing and unexpected early season home losses, blown out in Dallas, solid recruiting class to give everyone hope for the next season. Congrats!
  13. With Bowen in the fold, we might only beat you by 42 next year.
  14. It's funny - Huard actually has an interesting resume (certainly moreso than some of the other old farts who have been rumored) and probably could bring some valuable ideas to that staff in the right situation. But if he's being pitched as the PLAY CALLING SAVIOR then it's obvious it's all a bullshit lie and the offense will be no different than last year with Jimbo still calling the shots.
  15. Haven't seen a safety this indecisive since literally every time Dylan Haines took the field.
  16. Here are the facts: Most expected the recruitment of Anthony Hill to be a long, drawn out process between Texas, Texas A&M, and OU aggy hosts its annual pool party in July, an event that even aggy message board posters insinuate is where bags are dropped Anthony Hill visits College Station for this event, immediately meets with Jimbo Fisher, and commits about 5 minutes later aggy completely falls apart, losing 6 games in a row. Hill visits for one of those losses, and by all accounts has a miserable time and is encouraged to look elsewhere by current players on the team Hill immediately decommits Almost the entire LB room decides to leave, seemingly confirming the rumors of an unhappy locker room Meanwhile, the Texas LB room shows incredible improvement, including an afterthought recruit turning into a bonafide star Hill commits to Texas Imagine the mental gymnastics required to look at this timeline and conclude that aggy is really where he wants to be, but he is being dragged against his will to Austin.
  17. Stop paying attention to ESPN recruiting rankings.
  18. Genuinely an incredible job from the staff holding on to so many long-term, elite OOS recruits. Based on what I’ve seen in my years following this stuff, I definitely would have bet against Mitchell, Baxter, Williams, Arch, etc. all signing.
  19. It may not be “factual” but I’ll co-sign that as a description of Arkansas as well.
