  1. You do realize those peaceful protests were incredibly effective against the Administration that was in office at the time.
  2. This is lunacy. The resistance now needs to be leaderless, organic, and grassroots. That will make it credible. That’s how it will actually make republicans think twice, give Democratic politicians a spine, and get everyone else off the sidelines. It should at least have the veneer of non-partisanship. Besides, if arresting politicians is now a thing, there’s no reason to put all our eggs in one basket. In any case. There are leaders (plural) if you look for them. Go to your nearest no kings rally and find out who your local leaders are.
  3. He's playing the martial law card only 140 days into the job. He's all out of ideas. It won't work. Not against 5+ million people in 1800+ locations this Saturday. Smh at some of you fretting over TACO. Subjecting wannabe dictators to scorn and ridicule is how you take them down. Kilmar's back home, Elmo left a mark, The Republicans can't agree on their bill, veterans are rallying, and Ukraine showed they do have the cards. I mean, Kilmar is back home. I thought that wasn't supposed to happen. Fuck this loser.
  4. We're getting there. We need to follow Organized Labor's lead with that one. Until then, get yourself to a demonstration. The No Kings rallies are going to be BIG this Saturday. Already 1800 are planned nationwide. For comparison, the Hands Off protests had 1500 locations. My burb had 300 show up to a random library back then. This go around, it'll be in the busiest commercial center in the city. Other events across the country are similarly leveling up. I won't be surprised if 10 million show up in total. Don't miss out. Bring a sign that's Surly worthy.
  5. Gavin Newsom is ready to be let back in from the cold
  6. Worth keeping in mind this is happening only 1-2 days after the administration took an L with Kilmar coming home
  7. Fuck Trump. 6/14 can't get here soon enough.
  8. Probably FL rep Jared Moskowotz. Kinda centrist but really good with the socials and always putting on a good show on the House floor.
  9. Dude, the Dems ended up winning the presidency the last time they had a free-for-all primary in 2020. Please God, no more coronations. I think the notion that competitive primaries end up hurting the party, either party, in the general election is true only if campaign funds are limited, which will never ever again be an issue for the Presidency.
  10. I don’t care how he tries to spin this. If Garcia goes home, this is Trump caving, again. Let’s take the win. Donald is no dictator.
  11. Good news, but damn Trump is such a pussy.
  12. Seriously, we all need a pad of these. Simple message, spread everywhere.
  13. The Dow is still down like 3000 since his inauguration.
  14. This actually shouldn't be hard. Growing a spine would be a really good start. The shift to the right from 2020 to 2024 in the swing states was only 3-4 points compared to 6-8 points in the rest of the country. That doesn't even hint rigged to me.
  15. I attended our local Hands Off protest this afternoon. 200+ people gathered in front of a library with guest speakers and even a couple of F-bombs. It was downright rowdy by Sugar Land standards. I only wish they chose a place with more visibility.
  16. That poll just saved American democracy.
  17. Were tariffs against Mexico and Canada announced today? I don't see them listed in the stupid charts.
  18. Gene Wu has some solid social media game. I want to know more about the guy running in TX-18 to replace Turner.
  19. Big day at the polls in Wisconsin and Florida on April fools, of course. The Dem should win in Wisky unless Elon really can buy his way out of a 5 - 8 point deficit. The GOP has the edge in both FL seats, although FL-6 is closer than it should be due to the incompetence of their candidate. Meanwhile in Louisiana:
  20. TSLA has erased all gains since October
  21. I brought this to the Stand up for Science demonstration at Rice U today
  22. It’s high time for Anonymous to make themselves useful.
  23. As of now, the CDU and SPD will be netting 33% and 19% of total seats in the Bundestag, which is > 50% if my math is correct. So those two alone can form a governing coalition. It's all up to the CDU, but the dreaded 3-party grand coalition can be avoided. Hopefully, Germany has some solid anti-corruption laws to prevent Elmo's influence as the new government forms.
  24. Yesterday's cover
