  1. He only ever coached against them his last 4 years, which were arguably his worst 4 years sans 2014, which was also an average team in comparison to his others (and that team did indeed lose 2 of 3 to wvu in Morgantown that year so I guess I see your point) Still, there is something really wrong with this athletic dept on the men's side that just immensely struggles in road games. These kids have got to realize that they actually have to work and need mental toughness if they ever want to compete for anything meaningful at this university. The cower in fear shit is beginning to get real old against mediocre teams.
  2. Typical Texas to play like they're scared straight against a mediocre team on the road. I like Pierce, and believe he could be the guy, but No.1 priority should be to recruit some players with some balls, because it's clear that not very many players on this team, especially the starting rotation, have any It's fucking WVU baseball, guys. Augie's average teams would've crushed this team
  3. Nvm, I forgot this team likes to make things hard on themselves. Has Kingham just quit?
  4. Don't be dumb. Not every guy on the floor for us has to be NBA caliber. Dylan did a lot of important things for this team beyond the stats, and took a freaking beating throughout the season when the roster was getting thin. A inside version of Javan Felix if you will. Our team would've been much worse without Dylan Osetkowski this past season.
  5. Huge weekend in the Big 12, although I guess every one of them from here on out has implications. Would love to see this team play with their hair on fire like they did in Baylor series combined with the late-inning heroics in the ou and ok state series. Regardless, should be a fun last month before regionals are decided 🤘
  6. Imho, I think Texas is better than that team. Out-hit them in their own park and would not let their bullpen keep us at bay. Had Texas not spotted them 4 runs in the first, Texas could've won that game handily
  7. Ugh, and now WVU's rpi dropped after beating Marshall last night. The Mountaineers are not very good and, from the looks of it, have some shoddy pitching, but can hit the ball. If Texas doesn't win at least 2 of 3 in that series, the hosting chances could be kaput. Then again, it's probably going to come down to how we play in the @Tech series regardless
  8. He said it hit a "back toe." Not sure if I've ever heard of one of those before
  9. Got a friendly 3-2 call there. Bases juiced, 0 outs, 6-3 (despite not one run being driven home via basehit)
  10. Houston has walked in 4 runs lol Big Bank Clemens will really have an opportunity to bring home more RBIs
  11. Crazy how much momentum swings with this Texas baseball team as opposed to years' past. Not too much of a mystery with the pitching woes and offensive production increase. Last year it felt like if either Texas or their opponent had a 1 or 2 run lead in a game, it'd stay that way until at least the 8th or 9th inning. Stanford, LBSU, and at least three or four Big 12 series last year were all perfect examples of that.
  12. About to go from potential host to on the bubble for the field of 64 if we get blown out here. This is pathetic baseball by Texas
  13. Oof. bitter pill to swallow hearing that a national seed is impossible and a regional host is basically impossible. As another poster said, it doesn't take into account conference tournaments. Also, at least imo, depending on who it's against, Texas can bolster a host resume without winning all 13 of 13 games. Would probably take winning the conference though, or getting outright second and not being swept by Tech. Also, and this is completely hypothetical as the odds are astronomical, but if Texas went 13-0 to end the season and finished 41-15 before the tournament (with a big 12 championship assuming Ok St doesn't win the remainder of their games either), I'd find it very hard to believe that Texas wouldn't get a national seed with that record and a road series sweep against Tech to boot. Then again, it's probably not best to deal in hypotheticals
  14. Meh, it's gonna happen one way or the other. The man never won a championship though, and Augie won 5 spanning over 4 decades. Never understood how FSU always cracked in the postseason every single year. Were they ever even national runner-up in his tenure there? Would be a pretty awesome story if he won it all this year
  15. Despite the bad loss Sunday, Texas still went 4-1 last week and earned a bump in the rankings. They're as high as 19 in the d1baseball poll, and are ranked ahead of Oklahoma, LSU and aggy despite only being 3-4 against those teams (all 7 games played on the road, mind you) RPI fell as low as 35 after starting last week at 23, and currently sits 1 behind wvu at 33. Critical week to win at least 3 of 4 games to get the rpi in shape for a chance to host
  16. Perfect timing for us to play them. Granted, Texas coming off their worst loss and Houston coming off their best win is not the best timing
  17. That would mean Texas wins 8 of its final 12 games w series @WVU, @tech and tcu. You would think Texas's rpi following a performance like that would reflect a top 16 ranking. Barring a conf tourney 0-2 or 1-2 performance, I think Texas could safely assume its role as a host if that were to happen. Last year, Texas finished 5th in the conference with a losing record, but still almost hosted because of their strong conf tournament run. So nothing is guaranteed until we see how the last 14-15 games go I guess. If Texas can pull off a conf regular season and tournament championship (albeit, not an odds on favorite to do so), no question they're a top 8 national seed. Not that we're getting ahead of ourselves or anything...
  18. So tcu is just in full on suck mode now huh? Ok St has now won 11 of 12 since losing their first series in Austin. Frustratingly impressive.
  19. This team feels a lot like 2008, and will probably get a regional seed that reflects the one they had that season, too.
  20. Our starting pitchers... smh. They’ve been getting touched up all weekend against this team nice catch by Shaw to end the frame. 0-3, middle of the 3rd
  21. Oh and here's today's highlights (yesterday's?)
  22. Yea I just got home still drunk watching highlights. What's it to you? If I haven't said so already, Keith and Greg (AND ONLY Keith and Greg) in the booth is so much better than Lowell involved in any baseball broadcasts. I'm sorry but it's true. Nothing will top Craig and Keith in the booth on radio, though. Brings back a lot of Omaha memories remembering their calls.
  23. Texas does not need to mess around and lose to this team. Hell, just beating them last night dropped the rpi from 23 to 30
