  1. Damn. When did Hawaii move to such a small stadium? I went to the 1995 Texas @ Hawaii game in Aloha Stadium. The stadium in the video looks like a high school.
  2. Reminder -- tickets for Keeneland go on sale tomorrow at 8am CDT for those interested in horse racing. Reservations for Buffalo Trace tours open Wednesday (Aug 20) at 9am CDT for Texas/UK weekend.
  3. Sounds good. Thanks. I'll confirm plans as we get closer to the game.
  4. Deciding on whether to go to Columbus or stay in Austin (and watch party). Swore I would never go to Columbus again after 2005, but here we are.
  5. It is not a protected rivalry. They miss 2027. https://big12sports.com/documents/2023/11/1//FB_Matrix_24_27.pdf
  6. I've read the DIRECTTV announcement twice and I sill have no idea what it's about.
  7. Thanks for info. I go to Kentucky a couple of times a year and am a history buff. Never heard of Perryville but will check out the area and the tavern.
  8. Game will be at night (6p or 7p). Looking for place to meet for lunch on gameday and watch other games. Then head to stadium. Still deciding whether to also pull together a small tailgate -- probably would start 3 or 4 hours before game and just be drinks and basic snack food. Not going to try and cook anything.
  9. Thanks for working on this. The Public House looks awesome, but may be too small for a large group? Hard to tell from pictures. My daughter (who lives in Lex) says that Charlie Brown's is more of a dive bar and not so much of a sports bar. I like dive bars, but for watching other games, the Bear and The Butcher might be better she said. It's across the street from Charlie Brown's. https://www.bearandthebutcher.com/ It looks pretty good from pics. @BurntEyes don't remember if you looked at this one. They have 14 TV's with game sound. For tables of 15+, they charge minimum $30/pp for food. Since we are still trying to figure this out, I went ahead and booked a table for 12 at 12:30p. Not saying this is the place and don't care if I cancel. But no charge to grab at least one big table, so I booked it. One negative, however, is that they limit tables to 2 hours according to website. So maybe crash Charlie Brown's after???
  10. Do it by zoom. Rude!
  11. FYI. Reservations for Buffalo Trace open August 20th at 9am for the Texas/UK game weekend.
  12. Good luck. Screw cancer. Hope to see you in Lexington.
  13. So far, we have following Surly-ites attending game (with total guests): @BurntEyes @GottaB (6-8) @Longboard Horn (?) @TxEx84 (8) @BrazilHorn (?) @YChang (?) @KingBobo81 (4) @TornACL (2) @Art Vandelay Miss anyone? To catch everyone up on previous discussions, if enough people want to do a small tailgate (have a central place to congregate), we can start planning. This will be nothing like the awesome tailgates put on by @immamac and others at Michigan and Alabama games. My plans are also uncertain on Saturday as I'll be herding cats in my group. But assuming we move forward, there are a few options. 1) Use RevelXP to setup up tailgate. Issues are cost ($1200 for small tent) and location. On the map below, only the orange box areas are available for a single game. Small areas and not near most of "the scene". The area in the blue box is RevelXP tents for season rentals. Absolutely would pay for tent in blue box, but cannot at this time. 2) Setup our own tailgate. Buy parking passes in the Blue Lot. Can buy tent for $150 at Costco or rent one for weekend. Would allow us to pack a car or two with food and drinks and have it next to tent. 3) Meet sometime in the afternoon at a bar/restaurant. Watch early games and the do own thing before game. Again, I'm not sure my own schedule on Saturday, so TBD for me if I can make. @BurntEyes mentioned this place: https://charliebrownslex.com/. Could do just this or meet here first, then tailgate. 4) Do nothing. You guys are from the Internet! Very scary meeting in person.
  14. Yes, recommend Blue Grass Parkway if you have the time. Old Frankfort Pike is good if coming from Louisville and are short on time. Taking Old Frankfort Pike is about the same as driving I-64 all the way to Lex.
  15. I started a separate thread for the Kentucky game so as not to clutter this one. (I know, not the Surly way.)
