  1. Yes, the Fair would lose a shit ton of money. 250,000 people attend the Fair gameday. No idea why people with no interest in the game, go that day. But they do (and all seem to have baby strollers).
  2. Kentucky tailgate cancelled due to lack of ticket sales. Still plan to meet at Bear and Butcher then will figure what to do pre-game.
  3. If anyone is interested, I may have extra GA tickets for Friday at Keeneland. My daughter has a horse racing which should allow her to get a reserved box for my crew. Not confirmed yet.
  4. Yeah, no shit. Don't go if it's too uncomfortable for you. I still miss it when the Cotton Bowl had metal seats with little leg room. Banging your knees on the chair in front was part of the game experience. The concourses were more jammed this year because the sun was blazing and so many people hung out there to get in the shade. My only real gripe was why do they place those portable concessions for beer/water in the narrow concourse. Really fucked up moving because you had long lines blocking what little space there was. But overall, it's the most beautiful stadium in the world. 90,000+ seats all close to the field, outdoors, and a grass field. I'm in my 60's, but wouldn't .think of missing this game.
  5. For those that haven't seen on Kentucky tailgate thread, Surly is partnering with Tailgreeters for Lexington. https://tailgreeter.com/texas-kentucky-road-tailgate-football-on-the-bourbon-trail
  6. Game week! Looking forward to trip. Gametime set for 7p. I have a reservation for 12 at Bear and Butcher at 12:30. I think just 5 from my group will go there so room for 7 others. Who plans to attend? We'll go to tailgate around 2p. https://tailgreeter.com/texas-kentucky-road-tailgate-football-on-the-bourbon-trail
  7. What's the problem with 3 hours at the fair? Grab a seat at Magnolia Beer Garden or Texas Exes. Drink beer. Watch college football on giant screen. Sounds like a perfect Saturday. People bitched about the 11a kick for over a decade. Now 2:30 sucks, too?
  8. My group will do the tailgate although the "special Kentucky menu" concerns me. 😀 One can only eat so many Hot Browns. We will go to Bear and Butcher first, then start tailgating around 2p. Gametime still TBD. Either 7p or 7:45p. The weather forecast looks perfect:
  9. Here's the link I found with details for everyone: https://tailgreeter.com/texas-kentucky-road-tailgate-football-on-the-bourbon-trail
  10. @immamac Any update on a Kentucky tailgate? Or was the Florida trip too much of a bloodbath? How can we help if you're still thinking about doing one for Lexington?
  11. Angie Gimme Shelter Midnight Rambler Wild Horses Doo Doo Doo Doo Doo (Heartbreaker)
  12. I'll be at my 47th consecutive Texas/ou game. Will stop by HH.
  13. Yes. Still holding reservations at Bear and Butcher. Waiting for more info on Surly tailgate before finalizing plans. (Either meet at B&B then go to tailgate or tailgate all day.)
  14. Here’s a thread for Kentucky game.
  15. Why would they schedule a horror convention (whatever the hell that is) the same weekend at Texas @ UK, Parents Weekend, Keeneland Fall Meet, and horse auction at Fasig-Tipton? Smh. No wonder there's not a hotel available in Lex.
  16. Austin was a sad food town 40 years ago.
  17. Sounds good. I have a table of 12 reserved at B&B and @BurntEyes has a 10 top. There are 6 in my group so space available. Probably will firm up plans in a couple of weeks and get more info on Surly tailgate. My group is going to Claiborne Farms Saturday morning. Plan is to head straight to lunch then tailgate. @Longboard Horn Did you check to see if B&B has availability for Saturday brunch gameday? Not planning to eat too much at lunch to save up for the fried wildcat later at the tailgate. But $30 is decent price.
  18. Strong rumor that @immamac is putting together a Kentucky tailgate. Depending on details, lunch at Bear and Then Butcher (or Charlie Brown's) then head to campus for tailgate still should work. Game will likely be at 7:30p local (Lexington is Eastern time zone) so a long, fun day ahead.
  19. I forwarded the Florida tailgate link to a couple of friends (not Surly posters) going to Gainesville - "Longhorn Swamp Cruise". They asked if an actual boat was involved. I mean, what could wrong with an open bar, water, and alligators? 😄😄😄
  20. Perfect for a $9.95er. At least he's honest.
