  1. Banged up Atlanta vs a Philly team that spent a lot of energy to comeback, played 120 minutes and gets one fewer day of rest. Toronto vs NYCFC Wanderers at a different baseball stadium. El Trafico playoff edition also Seattle and Salt Lake play I guess.
  2. Aspiring to be the second best team in CONCACAF is a really low bar to aspire to, but do you. Also, you named three.
  3. Give me your starting XI and 7 substitutes of American born players right now.
  4. There was a reason why Klinsmann did everything he could to find dual-national players because the American-born player pool is shallow. It's ok though, US Soccer doesn't give a shit about youth development and are doing everything they can to alienate dual national players, particularly Mexican-American ones.
  5. In 2018, 13 points from ten games got the third spot from CONCACAF (and the 4th play off spot) in the World Cup. Presuming Canada moves into the top six, right now what is your confidence the USMNT could get 13 points from ten games in a Hex with Mexico, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Honduras and Canada?
  6. US Soccer COO Jay Berhalter hired Earnie Stewart to be the GM of US Soccer. Earnie Stewart hired Jay's brother to be USMNT coach. Now Jay may become the CEO of US Soccer. The systemic rot has killed US Soccer and it's not getting fixed any time soon. We're in the early stages of the real dark age of American soccer.
  7. Look on the bright side, only San Jose State, Florida and Oregon have more interceptions than we do this year and that is something that is totally and completely sustainable!
  8. Markakis and McCann are cooked. Playing Freeman 158 games and Donaldson 155 during the regular season was really dumb.
  9. "legend" is a bit strong. Braves very good player.
  10. Roll with Pache or Waters in the outfield. Go get Gerrit Cole. Sentence one may happen. With corporate ownership that doesn't give a fuck about the team the second sentence has zero chance of ever happening. The Braves ability to win a World Series is going to rely on the continued development of Mike Soroka and hoping that Ian Anderson, Kyle Wright and Kyle Muller develop into major league starters. Ownership has shown they're only willing to take on short-term money and you aren't going to sign a front line starting pitcher to a one year deal. I think there's enough data out there to suggest Folty and Fried are going to be maddeningly inconsistent pitchers at the big league level capable of brilliance and capable of melting down. I don't know that you can expect either guy to be a pitcher to carry a team when it matters. Snitker is so in over his head at this level. He has no idea how to manage a roster or a pitching staff. Pitching your best pitcher once in a division series is a stroke of genius. He ran Freddie and Donaldson into the ground playing them practically every day. And Freddie...for a guy who was the face of the franchise through dark days and saw us come out the other side I will always have an appreciation for that, but this series puts a serious black mark on his legacy until he can get another shot to fix it. He was absolutely brutal in every phase in this series.
  11. they won as many titles in two years as the other slap dick teams have won combined in 150 combined seasons. Don't lump them in with the other turds in the city.
  12. Starting Duvall today would be the easiest choice ever and I'm not sure Snitker's smart enough to do it. Mark Bowman outlined it in a tweet yesterday. Since coming off the DL Markakis has a .490 OPS against right handed pitchers. Joyce has a .922 OPS against righties since he began platooning. The smart move is benching Markakis, but Snit won't do it. If he starts Duvall over Joyce he has to hit him 5th. Hitting Markakis 5th again is managerial malpractice.
  13. There's a zero percent chance Freeman sits. There's a slightly higher, but not very high, chance Markakis sits.
  14. Martin out, Julio in and starting a game four (if we get there) so to recap: To win the series the Braves are going to have to: 1) beat the best pitcher in the National League since the all-star break or 2) Win a Julio Teheran start on the road. It's over and done.
  15. Acuna was a stud. Freddie's last two months were an anomaly, Donaldson was healthy, Ozzie was more consistent, Mac and Markakis provided leadership. The talent from Soroka and Fried was apparent. They'd run through a wall for Snit. The most fun thing is just about everyone else had big moments even if they were bad for long stretches. Riley's first couple of weeks helped jump start the team in June. Ortega's grand slam against the Dodgers was massive. Culberson had some big hits early and had that game saving throw in July. Hechavarria provided some good defense and some hits. Matt Joyce has been consistently good. Julio and Keuchel had good stretches. Jackson and Swarzak had a couple of stretches where they kept the bullpen afloat until AA brought in the reinforcements. They're just a fun team to root for. The big question mark and most fascinating thing to watch in the playoffs is going to be the starting rotation in the playoffs. Soroka has earned the game one start, but he has no playoff experience. They didn't sign Keuchel to not pitch him in October particularly given his experience. Folty has been great since he came back. I don't think Snit would bench Julio and Fried is a major wild card. Soroka, Folty and Fried have the best stuff and in October I think that matters, but I think Fried is the long reliever/rescue guy. I hope Folty's final stretch has moved him into the game 3 start ahead of Teheran, but Snit is loyal to a fault.
  16. Gorgeous stuff from Atlanta United
  17. bitch move by Dave Martinez to have the umpires check if it was a strike or not while Culberson was lying in a pool of his own blood, but he got fucked by karma leaving Rodney in after that and the Braves blowing the doors off them. The division is basically over.
  18. Hey, a total garbage goal still counts.
  19. Ream is from St. Louis so I'm fine with him getting to start in his home town. Robinson has been having a great season for Atlanta which doesn't mean it's going to translate to the National Team by any means, but the guy has been one of the best, if not the best, CB's in MLS this year. If playing at a really high level in MLS doesn't get you a legitimate look with the national team, particularly when they don't have a ton of quality depth at that position right, what's even the point?
  20. I don't understand why Long started ahead of Miles Robinson. Long has played 12 games for the USMNT. Berhalter has an idea what he brings to the table. Why bring Robinson if you aren't going to give him a start?
  21. Seven new starters. I'm presuming CP, McKennie and others went back to their clubs. I heard about departures but haven't been super locked in.
  22. Paxton Pomykal is my new favorite American soccer player.
