  1. Michael Symon is constantly on Beat Bobby Flay as a judge. Probably a judge on some of the other competition shows as well. The Food Network has given him his own show that debuted about a week ago. Throwdown With Michael Symon has Symon showing up and facing off with a chef over that chef's signature dish. I've watched the first few episodes and it is okay so far. One of the first episodes was a throwdown over khachpauri, which I had never heard of.

  3. A couple of Reba McEntire songs seem ripe for this treatment: Fancy and The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia. Well, Fancy was originally a Bobbie Gentry song but I am guessing most people associate it with Reba. There is already a musical drama movie The Night The Lights Went Out in Georgia with a different plot than the song that Reba did. Well, a different plot than the Vicki Lawrence song that Reba covered. The movie has a fairly loaded cast: Dennis Quaid, Mark Hamill, Kristy McNichol, Barry Corbin. Given the subject matter of these two songs, I would think Hollywood would jump all over the chance to make them into something.
  4. The gift that keeps on giving. Some of it might actually be nice and/or useful. https://www.bespokepost.com/ For those old enough, it is basically the Columbia House business model. Sign up and each month you get an email saying what is in the next box. Change, swap, or decline by the 5th of the month. Box is then shipped to you. This company will probably make a fortune off of everyone that forgets to respond to the email.

  6. I heard somewhere that VHS became the standard because it was the platform that the porn industry chose. I have no idea if that is true.

  9. Out of sheer morbid curiosity after seeing this, I googled "Jeff Goldblum shower curtain". I feel like I have seen a portal into another dimension. Also, would this be out of place or right at home in the domicile of one Mitch Cumsteen?
  10. Red Line Burgers still exists. They have a location in Portland on Wildcat out near the Gregory city line. Near one of the entrances to the GCCV facility. They claim no affiliation with the food truck in Corpus that uses the name. https://redlineburgers.com/faq/

  12. Can't believe no one has yet to post the first video shown on MTV.
  13. Obvious point is obvious, but the ONEderland channel on Sirius plays a lot of the songs posted in this thread.
  14. Giuffria - "Call To The Heart". Very 80s hair band video. Apparently the lead singer later achieved some notoriety by doing a SpongeBob SquarePants song. "How Do You Talk To An Angel" by The Heights. Band and song done for a television show in the early 90s. Song reached number one, then fell down the charts and the show was cancelled.

  16. Man Photographed As A Baby On 'Nevermind' Cover Sues Nirvana For Sexual Exploitation The cover for Nevermind, a 1991 Nirvana album that is said to have helped redefine rock music, features a naked 4-month-old baby in a pool, appearing to swim after a dollar bill that's pierced with a fish hook. That baby — the now 30-year-old Spencer Elden — is suing Nirvana for child exploitation and pornography, saying the band knowingly distributed the naked photo of Elden as a baby and profited from it. He's asking for $150,000 in damages from each of the defendants, which include members of the band, Kurt Cobain's estate, photographer Kirk Weddle, Universal Music, Geffen Records, Warner Records and MCA Music. The cover photo was shot by Weddle, who was a friend of Elden's father. The lawsuit accuses Weddle of producing a "sexually graphic" photo of Elden. It adds that there was initially pushback against featuring Elden's genitals on the album cover and the plan was to place a sticker over it. "The sticker, however, was never incorporated into the album cover," the lawsuit states. Elden's parents also never signed a release authorizing the use of the image, and Elden himself never received any compensation, the lawsuit says. "Spencer's true identity and legal name are forever tied to the commercial sexual exploitation he experienced as a minor," Robert Lewis, Elden's attorney, writes in the lawsuit. Lewis writes that Elden has experienced emotional distress and interference with emotional and educational development. In a 2008 interview with NPR, Elden, then in high school, was still struggling to make sense of his public image. "Quite a few people in the world have seen my penis," he said, "So that's kinda cool. I'm just a normal kid living it up and doing the best I can while I'm here."
  17. Sorry to disappoint you.
  18. The Post does not open until noon on Saturday. Food there is good.
  19. Downtown Corpus is not exactly overrun with sports bars. I know Railroad has several televisions around the place and Brewster Street Icehouse near Whataburger Field is probably not short televisions. Food and drinks at both locations. They open at 11 am on Saturdays so assuming kickoff is sometime shortly after that you can get to either place when they open and not miss anything. Cassidy's Irish Pub or Flanagan's might be an option. I don't think I've ever been in either establishment so I cannot say for sure. I do not recall any televisions at Mesquite Street Pizza but the last time I was there it was late at night and I was drinking so who knows. You might also look at Crawdaddy's and the places on Water Street.

    Say what again!

I think this was the original title of a Beatles song, then the LSD wore off and they read their notes as "Strawberry Fields Forever".
