Whitman's wife was from Ft. Bend County-my home county. In the 60’s it was still very rural with a relatively small population. My parents knew the wife’s family and met Whitman at a party. My father said he seemed like a normal young man.
No picture but I just had a 2018 CDP Domaine Du Pegau Reservee and it was one of the best wines I’ve had in the last several years. Many people might say this was an over the top fruit bomb. They would be wrong. Leve gave it 95 points and I would agree.
Agree with the slide point. I have girls (now 31 and 28) and when they were young I kept my weapons safely away from them—they never shot them and never cared to try. In any event, there is no way either of my daughters could have been physically able to pull back the slide to load my Browning Hi-Power when they were adolescents or even in their early teen years. They’d have a tough time pulling the slide now. I suspect boys are not much stronger than girls until they hit their teens, but I can’t remember.
Disagree. And there are many, many excellent Bordeaux for under $50. You probably know of it, but search Jeff Leve’s site winecellarinsider.com and you’ll find them. Just get away from the notion that you have to have a classified wine to enjoy it. There are oceans of excellent Bordeaux, especially in good years—and most of the recent available vintages have been very good to great. On the whole, Bordeaux is a better bargain than California cabs/merlots.
I’m allergic to so many things (foods, pollen, dust mites, etc.) that it’s not unusual for me to have a scratchy throat, watery eyes, and even a light fever, at anytime during the year. I just live with it. My symptoms were like my allergies for about 24 hours. When it got a little worse (but still not serious) I took a PCR test and a home test and they were both positive.
That’s a little harsh. I’m not a fan of big California cab fruit bombs either, but before Parker there was a ton of shitty thin acidic wine out there. The quality of wine around the world generally improved because of Parker. I mostly drink Bordeaux and until he retired I could select a 90-92 point red Bordeaux in the $30 range (and there were several and some were even cheaper) and pretty much be guaranteed a good experience. Same for southern Rhone.
Dumbshits that for some reason assume every lobby-level elevator is empty and block people trying to leave the elevator. Some of them even try to get in the elevator before everyone has gotten out.
I agree. But it’s a data point and as you said it’s helpful in identifying a trend. I like to see the numbers, assuming they are not way off—and at 143 how far off can they be, and the numbers show that a relatively minuscule number of people are getting so sick that they wind up in ICU.
Exactly. Setrac.org is a good source for the 27 county Southeast Texas region. The population is approximately 9.5 million people. As of 7/20 there were 143 people confirmed with Covid in ICU in the region. The trend is flat to slightly up. There were 982 confirmed cases in non-ICU beds throughout the region.
Keep up the fight, guys. My smokeless tobacco story is that I thought it would be cool to chew tobacco when I was in 10-12 year old Little League. I asked my dad to buy me a pack of chewing tobacco. We were at a diner that had a large tobacco selection at the checkout. He chose Beechnut and made me put a big plug in my mouth while at the counter. I was about to throw up by the time we made it to the car. He let me keep the rest of the pouch in my bedroom. It stayed there for years untouched until I finally threw it out. Although growing up in west Ft. Band County where practically every guy (and many girls as well) dipped, I never touched smokeless tobacco again. My dad knew me pretty well.
Same here with my third shot in late November as well. I'll consider a fourth shot if it's strain specific. I had Covid last month and it wasn't a big deal. On dcbc's anecdote about the unvaxxed co-worker, I know several people who were never vaxxed and still had light symptoms with the current strain. Who fucking knows at this point.
As for London, if you and your daughter like tennis, go when Wimbledon is being played (late June-early July). Go on day 1, 2, or 3 of the tournament and do the queue. If you don't mind spending $$$ get debentures online for Centre Court or Court 1 (also a stadium court). Court 1 is less expensive and you still will see some top players on days 1-3. You are guaranteed three matches in either stadium and you can also watch any other match on the grounds. Make sure you go to the Churchill War Rooms (yes, avatar checks out). Find a half day private walking guide online or get a recommendation from the hotel concierge--they are not too expensive, and walk the St. James/Buckingham Palace/Whitehall areas. I recommend the Dukes hotel in St. James. Great location and not horribly expensive. And check out St. Paul's.
I loved season 1 and made it through seasons 2 and 3 but was disappointed with both seasons. I’ve been watching season 4 but it’s just not doing it for me. I’ve really just been hoping for more naked shots of Dolores and Maeve but I suspect that’s over. I may try to pick it back up in a binge watch when the season is over.
I keep checking in on this thread hoping to see an announcement that we will be in the SEC beginning with the 2023, or even 2024, season. What’s the consensus on when the move will happen? I really don’t see it happening early.
Either I had a shitty doctor or the procedure or drugs are better since the mid 90’s. Mine was extremely uncomfortable and so were the 2-3 days post procedure. Still, glad I had it done.
