  1. I heard DCC is closed for the rest of March.
  2. You are one of the lucky ones that played through it. Mine, and many others I know, was so severe there was no way I could play through it. I couldn't even shake a hand or turn a door knob. I was out of tennis for around 20 months and during that time as I thought it was getting better I would hit a few and pretty much had to immediately stop. That said, you have a good point. A light grip, the right racquet and strings do make a difference. When I was coming back to tennis my old racquet had way too much vibration. When I was pain free, I settled on the Prince EXO3 and the Volkl V1 Classic. They are old designs, but they still play well. The new Volkl's are supposed to be arm-friendly as well. Just stay away from the Babolat's with poly strings. They are evil. Everyone wants to play like Nadal . . .
  3. Nonsense. This is way overblown. The virus has been in this country for at least two months. Yet only around 40 deaths so far and most of those are from one facility in Wash. State. No one under 50 in this country has died from this thing so far. The Masters and pretty much everyone in the country is in a mass hysteria.
  4. Assuming they play it before the Ryder Cup the Bermuda grass will be fine. It will not be the dark green we are used to—Bermuda just isn’t that dark, but it will be fine from a player’s perspective.
  5. The rest of the HLSR has been cancelled.
  6. Try the latest Ping, TM and Titleist drivers. They all have a different feel and sound. More importantly, find out which shaft works best for you. IMO, the right shaft is everything. Make sure you are tested on a Trackman or other good tracker that looks at spin rate, ball speed, distance, roll, etc.
  7. The mother is horrible. Remarkably, she seemed to have some fans among the crowd. Even if she’s right about Peter’s and Madison’s compatibility, she should STFU. Peter should have told them to stay at home. And way to go Hannah Ann.
  8. This. Madison seems to be real wife material. Yet she agreed to go on the show so something is wrong with her.
  9. The Scots are on the metric system except for road distances they use miles. They also measure beer in pints.
  10. Check out The Right Stuff. They considered several types of guys. If you believe the film, Ike insisted on test pilots.
  11. This. The virus has been in patients in the US since at least mid January 2020 and likely sooner. Only 22 deaths so far and those are old folks (more like over 80) and people with immune issues. Everyone needs to take a deep breath on this and take the recommended precautions.
  12. Hammer meet nail. I did shoot an 85 yesterday with two bad three putts, a very short missed birdie putt, and a drive in a penalty area. Cap did go down a point over night.
  13. Sure, I considered that. I’ve recorded one or two 8’s since 1/1/20, but I’ve also been limited to a couple of 6’s on a par 4 and to 5’s on several par 3’s when I used to be able to take 7’s on those holes. All told, I thought it would go down.
  14. Anybody notice that their index has gone up with the new system? I thought mine would go down but it’s gone up a couple of points. My avg score is about the same.
  15. He was good there too.
  16. He played Jesus Christ very well.
  17. Had Dozier’s today. Brisket, ribs and turkey were outstanding.
  18. The 2020 Masters will not be cancelled. ANGC is run by reasonably intelligent guys.
  19. And interesting that it was in Tyler, Tx. It was also interesting that Houston was sort of a hot bed for live music back in the day.
  20. Exactly. Many of their early songs were about things unique to Texas. La Grange (the whorehouse), Heard it on the X (the X stations), Balinese (the Balinese Room in Galveston), Beer Drinkers and Hellraisers (duh), and Mexican Blackbird (Acuna) were songs about Texas or things close to it. Gibbons lived in Tanglewood in the 60’s with his parents. Not exactly a hotbed of musical talent though his father was a musician. He went to Lee High School, back when it was good.
  21. 1770 Boston Massacre (Incident on King Street): British soldiers kill 5 men in a crowd throwing snowballs, stones and sticks at them. 1946 Winston Churchill's "Iron Curtain" speech in Fulton, Missouri, popularizes the term and draws attention to the division of Europe.
  22. Although we can't really be sure about it now, in the several histories that I've read, including the ones written by my avatar and Churchill's biographers, the conclusion is that the Duke was not a Nazi. Like Lord Halifax, who was no Nazi, he thought Great Briton would lose the war and wanted to cut a deal if at all possible. Of course, that view was against the official view of His Majesty's Government (i.e. Churchill). So he was shipped off. Charles Lindbergh was of a similar mindset and he wasn't a Nazi either. And in the late 30's and the early days of WWII, none of those men knew just how evil Hitler and his henchmen were.
  23. He was the most eligible bachelor in the world and by historical accounts he was very experienced with the ladies. He could have had any woman he wanted. Yet he not only chose her, he gave up everything for her. They ended in the Bahamas . . . before air conditioning.
  24. Wallis Simpson had to have a secret weapon beyond the obvious.
