Tell me about Texas Tech
History tells us they'll throw the hammer at OKST because they always fuck with us and only us with real punishments and nobody else especially bluebloods. Rumors are we're backing up a Brinks truck for Drew Mestemaker, if they're gonna try to step in, that is where they'll do it, but I doubt they will even try at this point cancelling any deals. If they do I suspect with established precedents we'll push back.

That's my understanding, the revenue share is limited to $20M (approx.) and there is no real limit on NIL but they have a "clearing house" that is meant to ensure that NIL payments are actual market value for NIL and not pay to play. But that's fucking absurd and will never hold up in court imo. If Big Red Sports and Imports wants to give a guy $3M in exchange for a 10 second radio spot what legal basis can there be to deny that payment? Neither the player nor the company ever agreed to be hamstrung by a "clearing house" nor did they agree to arbitration as discussed on the linked article. And isn't market value whatever someone is willing to pay? If not Big Red Sports and Imports in Norman that player probably could get a similar deal from some cheesy car dealership in Baton Rouge. I'm kind of a broken record but the reason salary caps and other limitations work in the pros is the collective bargaining agreement where the players agreed to those limitations in which they negotiated and usually receive higher salary caps (and therefore higher paychecks). Without that the NCAA and whatever other entities are created to try and limit this stuff will fail in court. I can even see federal legislation failing to reign it in based on constitutional rights to economic freedom (that's a bigger discussion for a different time just throwign it out there because it's definitely an issue). https://www.sportico.com/law/analysis/2025/arbitration-nil-clearinghouse-lawsuits-1234855588/

2025-26 CFP General Discussion
I was having this discussion yesterday, it’s gotten so annoying. Also overreactions to every result and extrapolating it to certainties. What’s really being exposed is the absurdity of realignment, mega conference scheduling, and having to make decisions based on subjectivity and speculation. Aggy and Ole Miss had weak SEC schedules, one flailed out immediately the other is in the semis. Miami didn’t even play for their conference title because of a five way tie atop the ACC and is in the semis while also putting to bed any argument that they didn’t deserve the spot. The Big 12 got one team in which is probably right and isn’t the first CFP shut out, the other two were in the 4 team setup with much larger margins of victory, not to mention that ASU played well just last year. Now we have the bye teams losing (except IU). It all supports my plan to do away with CCGs and have a playin round the first week of December of the 9-24 ranked teams, then a 16 team playoff with games weekly instead of huge time gaps between rounds. I agree with Lanning that the NFL should give December Saturdays back to CFB.

Is this the end of shitty bowl games?
Michigan went through some of the most insane chaos of all time and still competed for most of the game. ND, ISU, and KSU should be ashamed for refusing to play a bowl.

It's been two weeks Jonathan, where's this explanation that will totally prove it wasn't another of your famous benders?

Left Behind: A Quick Dose Of Post Big 12 Reality
I mean, he's not wrong, they should be able to beat Houston easily, but this year LSU was way down from where they usually are and UH had one of their best seasons in a long time. It comes off as far more a criticism of LSU's current status than diminishing UH.

Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
I always loved the Gamblers and their logo. For some reason I thought they were also part of the World League with the San Antonio Riders but I guess they were only the old USFL then the new USFL. I'm not sure why I have a memory of them from the past though, I was a toddler with the first USFL folded.

Is this the end of shitty bowl games?
I wish they would spread out the better bowl games instead of waiting until after Christmas. Most of the games before yesterday (other than the CFP first round) were totally uninteresting and I guess what this thread title would consider the "shitty" bowl games. I'm not saying they should be done away with but why not TCU v. USC on Dec. 23 in addition to Western Kentucky v. Southern Miss? Some of today's slate would have been nice before Christmas too. If there's money to be made from the .500 team matchups from the supporters of those schools and casual people tuning in when work is slow that's fine but I would really prefer the better matchups not be so condensed into this week.

I don’t know who makes them but they were the official shirts from the Fiesta Bowl given to the players after the game and heavily marketed thereafter. I’m sure there are some folks in the third world still wearing the Stanford version.

Asking fans to travel to potentially 3 straight neutral sites is fucking insane. I’m pretty sure the venues and the “committee” (whoever gets those profits) make their money from local corporations and richers buying up the suites and lower level seats without caring who ends up playing the games. The venues are making their dough and any $50 tickets they can sell to the plebes is just some extra pocket change.

Haha, I forgot about the at home concussion. Good riddance.- Dallas Cowboys 2025 season thread: 8-9 and divine. The world according to Jerry
I honestly don't recall his name coming up much since returning from the injury. There's probably a physical out there that he didn't heal right. Otherwise why cut and not at least try to trade for something even bare minimum?- Could this be the craziest coaching carousel of all time?
I thought reports were that Chip was going senile or something, forgetting calls and whatnot. - Dallas Cowboys 2025 season thread: 8-9 and divine. The world according to Jerry
