  1. If you're not a believer in letting the wine breathe and only do it to stop the sediment, why spend the money on a decanter (and the pain it is to clean it) and instead just get one of these - it stops the majority (if not all) of the sediment for a fraction of the price of a decanter and a tenth of the effort: https://www.amazon.com/Haleys-Corker-Aerator-Stopper-Re-Corker/dp/B001IWONKC/ref=lp_289737_1_22?s=kitchen&ie=UTF8&qid=1527017875&sr=1-22
  2. It's pretty much the standard 4-5 tomato, 1 onion, 3-4 garlic cloves, cilantro, jalepenos base recipe that everyone is posting. Instead of grilling/blackening, I smoke my tomato, onion, garlic, and jalepenos for ~30 min. Usually do this before I start smoking ribs. The smokey flavor is a nice connection of sorts to the dinner that's about to come.
  3. Pretty sure he plays the same position as Pulisic does - on the wing in an attacking position, usually on the left (where as CP is usually the right). CP gets listed as a MF and FWD, depending on who is doing the writing. I bet the same happens for Weah. Either way, both players aren't there for defense, they are there to score goals and create assists.
  4. I really like these 95% non-MLS squads a lot better.
  5. That sounds like they'll be running ridiculously fast then unless it's just a sandy mess.
  6. If you're going to go to Lupe, do yourself a favor and just get the normal beef fajitas. They're expensive enough and good.
  7. Had a meal at Red Ash and it's pretty dynamite. Not best in Austin but since we're on an Italian kick in this thread, it definitely deserves mention as Best Italian in Austin. I really don't even know where to start for best restaurant in Austin...
  8. For the price you pay for those Lupe fajitas, I'd rather drink myself stupid and eat cheese enchiladas at y mas or maudies.
  9. DO - 35.2 minutes per game, 13.4 points, 0.400 FG%, 0.288 3P%, 7.2 boards, 1.2 assists, 2.2 TO Mack - 31.3 minutes per game, 14.8 points, 0.459 FG%, 0.391 3P%, 4.8 boards, 0.8 assists, 1.4 TO So Mack played less, scored more, scored more efficiently, and turned the ball over less. DO had more boards and slightly more assists. Mack's stat line is the exact kind of player we're missing on this team. We have guys who can dish assists. We have guys that can board. I can't really quantify the effects of Mack's off court issues since I don't know what they really were but going on stats alone, it's pretty damn clear as day that taking Mack over DO would be a major upgrade to this team.
  10. I'll walk my statement back a bit - it's not bad straight, certainly good enough for $37. I'm going to try to mess with the amount of bitters and sugar I add to try to mellow it down some. Otherwise, straight from now on.
  11. He's had one good stint at TPC Sawgrass but otherwise, Spieth gets demolished on this course. Not getting the Spieth optimism. He's my pick for pretty much any major and he claims he's finally coming around to treating The Players as a major - miss in the right spots, take your medicine, avoid the big numbers. But until I see those changes actually happen, I have a hard time picking him to make the cut after the last few years he's had here, let alone post a good number.
  12. I saw Balcones has a Rye Whiskey out and it was $37 so I figured what the hell, I'll give it a shot for my OFs. Holy hell, that rye does not work. It's 100% more like a scotch than a bourbon or rye. Flavors are completely off. Would not recommend. I'm not sure what I'm going to do with that bottle now...
  13. See bottom 2 posts from page 10 of this thread.
  14. Oops, he WAS on a 4 yr, $6.5M contract as an assistant.
  15. Check out Washington cabs like mentioned previously. You'll likely come in under that price point and they are a great next step. Generally speaking, a little less sweet, a little more blue fruit as opposed to the red fruits of Napa. Tannins should be similar.
  16. While I'd love to have Royal Ivey here as an assistant, I can't imagine that happens. He makes north of $1.2M a year for OKC. Darrin Horn makes just over $300k for comparison sake. Maybe he takes the job for the love of UT but the skeptic in me kind of doubts it. Only way Royal Ivey comes to Texas is as our head coach. Which actually doesn't sound that bad... Edit: Nevermind, that $1.2M was from 2012 when he was a player... I'll be back with his real salary. Hm, can't find any salary info. Best guess on the low end is $300k from random sources taking guesses about what the salary range is for an NBA assistant. On theh high end, Lue is on a 4 yr, $6.5M contract as an assistant.
  17. Some storms popping up to the south, moving north. Of course, they'll all fall apart around Bee Caves but at least there's a chance.
  18. Also - for those that want to get their foot in the door on trying new wines from different regions, check out www.lastbottlewines.com . They have a decent mix of wines including some far out there ones and quite often, they can be had for well under $15 a pop and up to well over $100. For the given price I've paid, I've always been happy with my purchase. They do a good job of curation, IMO.
  19. What kind of wine do you like? Big, bold, fruit forward? Earthy? A little lighter on the palate? High/low tannins? If $40 or under is the range, I'm going to Oregon and buying a bunch of $30-$40 Pinot. Much higher than that and I'm thinking splurge on some lower end Premier Cru Burgundies. But those are my tastes - lighter on the palate, less uber ripe fruit, more earthy. $40 and under also opens the door for a lot of great Tuscan Sangiovese wines as well - again, lighter on the palate.
  20. Of note, Delta is +23% Y/Y. That makes 3 months in a row where Delta has grown ~20%+ Y/Y giving a lot of credibility to the rumors of making Austin a focus city once the expansion opens.
  21. Another month, another record - busiest March on record. Nearly the busiest month ever and March is maybe the 6th busiest month. Annual passenger record is going to be shattered, again.
  22. Buy one used. Wear it for 6 months. Sell it for basically the same price (if not more in some cases). Rinse and repeat. This works especially well on the more well known watches (Speedy Pro, Sub, etc) but I've pulled it off on micro brands too (Benarus bronze diver, for example - ended up paying $50 to wear it for the better part of a year). Best flip was a Ball Mad Cow - made ~$250 on it by holding it for a year.
  23. Interesting. I wonder if they are doing any operational upgrades to get the full J cabin. Though I would highly doubt the coach cabin is full so the need for operational upgrades would probably be close to 0....
  24. Where are you seeing that? I can book biz and first seats on the flight to LHR both for today's flight and tomorrow's.
  25. I think that's pretty much as good of a fit for Banks as he could get. Great news for the kid and wish him nothing but the best. Didn't play much but he was ALWAYS into the game, cheering on his teammates, doing his part. On the '19 draft... If I'm an NBA team and if Sims and Roach are projected that highly in the '19 class, I'm trading away all my draft picks and loading up for another year. That's a lot of guaranteed money going to players that I don't think will pan out in the league.
