  1. Side note. You might be surprised at just how many people with mental illness are charged with felony assault on a police officer for either spitting or resisting arrest in which a cop gets a light scratch or bruise. I'm all for supporting the police, BTW, but it really is unconscionable for the police to charge people with felonies for basically freaking out in the midst of a mental health crisis. There are thousands of people with mental illness in county jails right now facing felony charges under just this scenario. (To be clear, I know the dude in the video was not in a mental health crisis. He looked drunk as hell, and he was an asshole. Just saying, the circumstances are similar -- and even worse when it's a person who is having a legit MH crisis.)
  2. uhhhhh....throwing scalding coffee on someone? Yeah that's not something I've ever wanted to do.
  3. That train treats that car carrier like a Tinkertoy. I'll repeat a story -- I was on the Amtrak from Austin to Dallas when we hit a 12-wheel truck stalled on the tracks. We didn't feel as much as a bump. We didn't know what had happened until the train stopped a ways down the track and then we went to the back of the train to see what had happened. Guy in the truck was of course killed instantly. Trains have so much damn power -- don't ever fuck around with them.
  4. Thanks for posting this. That second false start call at 2:03:28 is such BS. This skycam replay shows it clear as day. Also interesting to see the immediate reactions of Arch and CJ because they just know that it's offsides on the defense...and then see the reactions of multiple Texas players as the idiocy unfolds. Parker Livingstone is especially perturbed.
  5. His stats are especially insane when you consider that he's really only been playing at this level for the past 6 games. He was sort of MIA the first few games this season.
  6. Don't worry, I'm not a lawyer but I'm much smarter and more effective than 9/10 of them.
  7. 1999 Cotton Bowl vs Miss St is also a fun watch if you never got to watch Ricky run. He was a runaway freight train in that game. This still from the game is an example, but the three consecutive runs tagged to the video show why the guy was so unstoppable. Injures one guy trying to tackle him, busts several tackles for a 23 yard gain, and then absolutely obliterates a defensive player trying to stop him at the goal line.
  8. Texas Mizzou 1996 had Ricky running wild and carrying at least one guy into the end zone. But it's the insane hurricane like storm that hits at about 1:38:00 that made it epic. That poor bastard punting for Mizzou hit about a 15-yarder straight into the teeth of the wind and rain before the refs decided to call time for a while.
  9. One of the greatest things to ever witness
  10. Well, that squares. You're about as insufferable and miserable to be around as anyone I can remember. You'll be a great lawyer.
  11. Texas knows that beating Georgia probably puts us in the playoff. We seem to play better in those do or die situations, as opposed to when we are favored and smelling our own farts. Let's go.
  12. I mean, Eddie van Halen said that Wolfie was a far better musician than he could ever hope to be, so let's not get carried away with the validity of family praise.
  13. texaslonghorns.com has all recent games and radio calls archived. Go to the fans section, under multimedia click audio streaming, click for the mobile player, click on play past events, and then start walking the dog or mowing the grass while reliving past glories. It's pretty awesome, actually. They used to have old epic games on there too, like 1990 Houston or whatever, but I don't see those anymore. I have been listening to the 4th quarter and overtime radio call with Craig as I've been running errands and working out. It's great. The mobile player sucks but it's still cool to have all of those games to listen to.
  14. Is there a replay of the game posted yet?
  15. A few photos from the Denver show a couple of weeks back. First photo is from the soundcheck, which was cool. He played a few rarities (Every Night and I Wanna Be Your Man were highlights) and he had a really mellow vibe. Other photos are from our seats during the actual show. We had a great time. As I said in the other thread, for that 3 hours you can forget everything going on in the outside world and just feel good about life. Highly recommend.
  16. There's a big difference between Sark leaving for a job in the NFL vs being fired. Seems like a lot of people on here want him fired, which is ridiculous for so many reasons. For the Texas football program going forward, Sark should not be fired based on his performance so far. But a lot of people are wondering what a different coach might be able to maximize from these players, which accomplishes the same thing without the downsides of firing Sark.
  17. This bad guy is getting paid $50 million to not work. Same with Jimbo and Franklin. Doesn't really seem like the good guys are really winning anything, but okay. I'm glad Kelly's sorry ass is being embarrassed, but it's a Pyrrhic victory overall IMO.
  18. Sorry to hear about your friend and his dad.
  19. Spent some decent time there, and Minneapolis is actually far more fun and interesting than I ever would have thought. The campus is in a very pretty location up on a hill across the river from downtown, the city's music scene is fantastic, and they were badass enough to make the new Gophers stadium an outdoor venue.
  20. Are you out of your mind? Philadelphia vs Starkville. Okay.
  21. It's been a rough watch this season, but I agree. We're halfway. Let's see how things pan out. I'm certainly not comparing this team to the 2004 team, but I do remember us having VY and still beating Kansas by 4 requiring a last second TD, a timely PI call, and converting a 4th and 18 late in the game. And the next week VY looked terrible against A&M, pretty much pouting at the end of the bench at one point when we all thought he'd go in dry and take the Heisman lead. My point is not to compare the teams, but simply to remind us that even our greatest players and teams have shitty outings. It's a long season. Now we haven't experienced any of the highs that we did with that 2004 team, of course. We've seen some good stuff against OSU and ou, and we've seen some truly terrible stuff against UTEP, Florida and Kentucky. God knows what's going to happen, and the tea leaves aren't looking great, but let's get through the season before we deem it a total failure.
  22. Watch again -- the last 2 seconds he says "Hook em" and flashes the sign to someone off camera. Certified badass.
  23. thanks for that. Perhaps you can steer us to a showing of the English Patient director's cut for even more adrenaline-pinching good times
