The Sound of Freedom
I was on the way down to my parent's ranch a few weeks ago to start helping out with my dad's funeral. I was kind of still in shock over dad's death and my mom's freaked out phone call urging me to get down there and was driving in a daze if sorts. I was almost through Seguin when I spied a small maroon hatchback with a giant homemade rear window sticker which said "FUCK Joe and the hoe!!!" I was grateful for the break it gave me to think about something other than death and funerals. I also thought it was disrespectful to the office of the VP to not capitalize "Hoe". He had some other stickers too, but did not get a good look at them, so not sure if aggy.

A story about a pathetic man's downfall [34 Felony Convictions]
A lot of people had a chance to buy the Cowboy's back in the 80's. Donald would never have had a real chance at ownership due to his debt and the fact that Arkansas was about as far north as ownership was going to look. The Cowboy's were no sure thing back then either, unlike say, a casino.lol.

William Friedkin, Acclaimed Director of ‘The French Connection’ and ‘The Exorcist,’ Dies at 87
Not saying Disney should do it, but a remake of the French Connection isn't the worst remake idea ever.

Netflix Recommendations
CSB: I remember a few years ago I was dabbling in the Wim Hoff method just to see what it was all about. For those not familiar, it is basically a two step method of stress to reinvigorate the body and connect it back to its evolutionary/genetic roots or some shit. The first part of the method involves cold water plunges on a regular basis. It's more than that but that is the basic premise. Part two is an involved breathing method that has some similarities to hyperventilating which is done daily. Again, it is more involved than that but that is the overall deal. I did not do cold water plunges since I didn't have a means to do them, so I substituted cold showers. I did the breathing for about 10 days and started off with being able to hold my breath for about 90 seconds. After day 10 it was over 5 minutes. I also lost like 7lbs. Some people pass out during the breathing excercises so they recommend not doing them in the open water. Can't imagine going to that depth tho.

Gotta admire the commitment to the bit. Pro tip: Heat the pool for added effect.

UAP Pentagon Report (UFOs, Foo Fighters, Commie Drones)
This. Any morsels they release will be of the unexplained variety or some cold war declassified spy shit. The ramifications of alien contact or even existence disclosure would be world changing. Surly might even add a new thread instead of just tagging onto this one.

Blastfurnace 2023
My family headed out to Utah on June 29 for a USA Climbing Competition with the plan that we would hit some National Parks/Forrest while there and on the way back to Austin on July 18. Day 1 of the road trip we arrived Albuquerque, and despite being in a desert was still much cooler than Austin. Salt Lake City was great. I would even get in the hot tub every morning too loosen up before I went on my bike rides. Alas, I was drawn back to San Antonio on an emergency flight 6 days into the trip when my dad was taken to the emergency room and later moved to ICU where he died 6 days later. Funeral planning and helping my mom kept me here for the duration of the trip. My wife and kids could not even attend the funeral since the kids had national competitions up until a day or two before his funeral. My parent's ranch is southeast of San Antonio and it was 108 all four days I was down there cleaning up the yard and garage.

Most "Texan" thing you've ever done?
Spent a couple of nights under the stars at mile marker 58 Padre Island National Seashore. Played Texas/OU halftime show with Willy. Snuck into the Disch over visitors bullpen fence many times. Played pool and drank Lone Star in a beer joint....when I was 8. Summer Had my first shot of whiskey on a pier in Copano bay .. also 8. Winter. Taken a burt orange shit in the dunes at Matagorda. Dipped Copenhagen...at my wedding reception. Killed grasshoppers with a homemade slingshot. Got fired from the Posse East. Built my own home out in the country.

Desantis is a POS and needs his own thread
Vacationing and doing some climbing competitions up in Utah/Salt Lake area for the last three weeks. Very red state except for some pockets in SLC...still better than Texas, even with all of the LDS kookiness. Weather, hiking, snow sports, fly fishing, mountain biking, etc.

Is there a better action movie than Raiders of the Lost Ark?
I don't know man, PBS used to put out notices that "some content might be offensive" warnings right before some shows....like Barney.
