  1. UW just plays their game. Even when you are out playing them, they can get in you head. Case in point Oregon game 1. Oregon takes that game if they just kick field goals rather than going for it. I'm not saying Texas wins the game without the fumbles, but I think you end up with a much more competitive and compelling game in the 4th quarter without them. In my pregame analysis I thought turnovers would be would more important than in most games, kind of like Red River, and they were. I just thought the risk would be from ints and not fumbles. When the offense is not 100% not clicking and the defense is is on high alert the whole game all of the little things matter as then end of the game will bear out. All that said, we did almost all we needed to do to steal this game, but failed on the end with legit opportunities with our best unit on the field. Super frustrating.
  2. I pretty much lost all household possessions in a divorce when I was 30. After that I had just spent all I had on a new place on the country which was basically a shack. On one of the first nights after I moved in it was my night for visitation with my son and I decided to grill up some burgers. When the time came to slice tomatoes, I discovered I had no knife that would do the trick. It was one of many such moments that I had realizing I pretty much lost everything. Nevertheless, I solved the tomato slicing problem by going to my tool box and used a pvc pipe saw, after washing (with hand soap)of course.
  3. Yeah, that's why either Manning took it upon himself to get ready or was told by some astute coach on the staff. Even if QE didn't go to the tent, you never know after a hit like that if he was going to start telling everyone he was batman out of the blue.
  4. On ball placement: Aside from the examples above, there seemed to be an unnatural location for spots throughout the game for UW. What I mean is that in the normal course of a game, you see a play, you see the spot, you make a mental check, ok and move on. In this game, there were many times where I thought, "that's not quite right". On over half I would say there was no replay shown to provide confirmation. It just felt a little weird. I would say mostly in the first half.
  5. Preach. All true. Really could have used a "w" here in light of afformentioned 2001 big 12 championship game, 2008 screw job and 2009 Pistolas McCoy injury against Bama.
  6. Prior to the game, I never thought that the pass rush was going to get home against UW, and not because of great blocking or poor defensive execution. UW usually just gets the ball out very fast and picks their spots for the slower developing stuff. Think OU, only faster and with a better line. Very difficult to defend with our scheme and personnel in the secondary. UW style allows them to play their game when they want to.
  7. Despite everything that happened during the game, the football gods gifted us an opportunity at the end. I think everyone on this board would take 4 shots from the 13yd line to win the game every time. You have got to make that count and convert. Alas, things that troubled us during the season in the red zone, showed themselves at the worst possible time. It was like being in the bottom of the 9th down 1 with runners on 2nd and 3rd with no outs and your 1 2 3 hitters up against a struggling relief pitcher and not getting it done.
  8. Twice. Would have been nice to only need a fg on the last drive.
  9. Yeah, these guys also picked Oregon over UW both times and GA over Bama plus a few other stinkers. Some of the better analysis out there though.
  10. ....and they're not getting paid.
  11. No way that guy makes it to the end of his contract. Advantage aggy.
  12. That and Elko at least has the potential to be a better coach than Jimbo or Charlie Strong for that matter.
  13. Meh. Aggy did ok in this game considering their available roster and staff. At least they showed up, took their medicine, and reaped what they sowed with Jimbo. I only wish we had been this "bad" when we played arky in this bowl under Charlie. At least aggy has a new coach while we were stuck with Charlie for another 2 years. Still fun though.
  14. Yeah, in my football lifetime (watching games since mid 1970s ), OSU has never wandered in the desert like the other blue bloods Texas, Alabama, USC, Michigan, Notre Dame, OUsux. They might go a long time between championships, but they are in the year end mix more often than not and are always good for a Heisman trophy every 10 years or so.
  15. I'm just going to follow the game on thus thread instead of tv.
  16. Seems like they don't want to be there.
  17. When did the line change on aggy v okst? Seems like only yesterday is was aggy -4.5, now it's aggy +3. I figured all the no plays and transfers had already been baked in.
  18. This season has been fun. I have reveled in pre and post game analysis since there is actually something to analyze unlike on years past where it was just too much of a cluster or error filled football product to bother. This was especially true for later Mac, Charlie, and Herman. Once Sark got here, there was breakdown worth having even in losing efforts.
