1. Hah, yep. I was in #203 which was directly above Flying Saucer. It was a corner unit that had something like 16 almost floor-to-ceiling windows and spanned half of the building fronting Main and wrapped around the corner on Capitol. Awesome spot and that was the year I met mycox.
Hell of a post-divorce year before moving to Austin during spring/summer 2005.

Awesome. I was the door guy there (Saucer) on weekends in late 2002 / early 2003. Dated a couple of different waitresses. They were all nuts. Nice place to live man.

2. ONDS still going brrrrr and is looking to break through 8.00 as it builds support in the mid 7.00s. This stock is insane.

MVST had a solid day today as well.

What else ya got? This one has been a nice double for me.
3. Back when I lived above a bar in downtown Houston (20 years ago before moving to Austin) a buddy and I rode our bikes from downtown to Hermann Park drinking the whole way- vodka/drank in multiple water bottles with a stop at the Smith St. Spec's to load up a bit more.
When we got to Hermann Park we commandeered a golf cart from the tournament that was in progress. We drove the cart around the course and various non-golf parts of the park getting absolutely hammered for a couple of hours- it was one of those gorgeous spring days that you only get a handful of in Houston. Great time.
After that we rode our bikes down to Valhalla for (a bar on the Rice campus) a few beers and then over to The Ginger Man... and then bike/bar hopped back to downtown w/out getting run over somehow. Anyway, that was the last time I was in Hermann Park.

MIA- definitely take advantage of your location as much as you're able and keep kicking cancer's ass!

St. Germaine Lofts? Also, I drank too many nights at Valhalla. Bar tender was a buddy. (Around 2001 / 2002ish)

4. It’s kind of all breaking wide open now, isn’t it? When everything from every direction is doing all it can to break society…society eventually just….breaks.

We are a very long way from broken. We haven’t truly reached 3rd world status yet. We have so much farther to go and so much worse for things to get.

5. THIS.
Dead.
Fucking.
SILENCE from them when mass murderers in El Paso, Buffalo, and Pittsburgh were stating fucking VERBATIM their dear leader's talking points, and saying "yep, that's why I killed all those jew/black people/hispanics."  ZERO calls from them to "tone down the inciteful rhetoric."  Not "not enough calls for it."  Nope.  ZERO.  Let's be absolutely, 100%, crystal fucking clear: Trumpers are all for political violence.  They are champing at the bit for the opportunity to go out and commit it (or at least cheer on those who do).....against "the left" (which Trump literally just defined as "anyone who disagrees with me").  They LOVE political violence....both committed by them and theirs, AND by anyone who is not them and theirs, because they then get to use that to do what they've long wanted to do: violently purge all apostates from the country.
Whenever a Trumper says it's wrong to support political violence, they are fucking lying.  Not a little bit.  Like, the dead center 180 degrees exact opposite of the truth.  When the Brownshirts finally get to go on their bloody purge of those of us non-MAGAs, the MAGAS will not be able to hide their erections and their glee.  Shit, I lost count of the "oh yeah, this is war, we're coming for you lefties!" posts I saw on social media after Charlie Kirk's murder.  They are finally getting to be and do what they've always wanted to be: murderous fascists.

Holy shit this. My now estranged niece was celebrating the military being sent into Portland to crack some heads. Nada on today’s shootings when she couldn’t stop posting about Kirk.

And apparently I’m the asshole because I told her she lives in a different reality than us.

6. Not trying to start any shit here, but we did make multiple visits for all of our children (nb we didn’t split out the m from the m from the r). We didn’t skip any, and we could afford to do it that way. Does it make a difference? I don’t know, but it made me and my wife feel better.

We pushed our son’s vaccine schedule out in agreement with our kids doc. There is a window to get some done and the rest can be adjusted. But - basically - don’t listen to the President and talk to your doctor. They gave an oath to do no harm…

7. Is there anyone actually pro-ICE? I don't think they have the unearned stature of the cops or the earned stature of firefighters. I wonder if the right just sorta stays quiet on the subject of masked, armored, heavily armed thugs rounding up people who are now missed in the fields and at the factories.
Fucking Idiot World.
The north wind feels nice in Johnson City. I think a Trump guy took his two flags down. They were on the gate to a nice piece of land. I wonder if we can get reports on Trump flags as we do about candidate signs prior to elections.

Yes - most of MAGA is all for ICE.

8. Mexico is much closer, has better food and you don't have to learn Portuguese.

Mexico has cartels and also hates expats now. Portugal already hated expats, but no cartels.

Costa Rica is really easy to retire or golden visa…. $150k in real estate and you’re in. Less requirements for retirement visa. That said - their prez is taking a hard right and visiting with El Salvador prez… so.. not great.
9. If there were 5-6 more races instead of 3, it might have ended up a 3 driver fight for the championship.

There are 7 left. If Max wins out he can take it. I almost want him to with the shit show McLaren has become.

10. People are irrationally afraid of Trump.  I suppose because of how he commands his base and the recklessness with which he'll turn the state against his enemies.
I don't see anyone else being able to or really even inclined to do similar things.

I don’t see other Republicans rolling over for Vance. There will be a power struggle when Trump dies.
11. It’s not a hellscape for them yet. They voted for this. Get the brown people out, attack the trans and gays, and push evangelical religion. This is their wet dream. Farmers are crying - who cares - Trump is playing 6D chess.

We are living in two completely different realities. MAGA world is not the same world we see.

12. My worry is the SS payments.  If I cut my plan short I will be short of some financial goals I've set for myself.  Our SS payment should end up around $6k a month which would be a lot to leave on the table if this administration finds a way to deny payments to those who choose to live abroad.  We'd still be fine but I paid into that fucking system for my whole life and I would like to get the return on what I have put in.  $6k a month is a lot to leave on the table.

Damn - we are really close to the same boat. We will be fine without SS, but it would be a hit. I’m 75% sure we will end up out west and just blend in.
13. She lost because TPUSA and others mobilized young white men and have been working on them for years to support Trump. If he survives till 2026, I don’t see anything changing unless the non voters get the fuck up and vote democrat. The cult is gonna cult.

14. Same, though the plan has been to work a couple of years past that.  If it gets worse, our fallback is to move to Spain.

We are the same. Fall back is basically anywhere that will let us retire and figure it out from there. Our son is 14, so we are sorta on a time line for making sure he can come with.
