  1. Piastri has the patience to be a champion. He didn’t fight for 3rd at the start of the race. He was patient and I think he could have gotten third if McLaren had told Lando to back off. McLaren cost themselves a podium (and points due to Lando being a moron) on Sunday.

  2. Still irrelevant to blaming about his strategy. There was nothing Ferrari could do. He was too slow to clear traffic so they had no choice. Keeping him out on the mediums would’ve been worse.

I should not have blamed their strategy today. I didn’t know his car was damaged when I originally posted.

Apparently the groundhog put a hole in the floor. Solid little animal.
  3. TIL there’s a magical strategy that makes up for being drastically slower than your teammate.
Lewis started on mediums and had no pace. There was no way to avoid pitting him into traffic. He just wasn’t fast enough to gap the back marker hard runners in his first stint.

Turns out he had a damaged car.

  4. If cops actually gave a shit about either protecting and serving or even their own safety, they'd make sure no law enforcement are hiding their faces or their badges because it means nobody can believe someone who vaguely looks like a cop is actually a cop.

Protect and Serve is a marketing line. SCOTUS told us so in a few different cases.

  5. “The age of consent in some states is…”
”the age of consent worldwide can be as low as…”
”in the Bible, the word of God, it wasn’t uncommon for…”
“Sexual maturity is nature’s way of saying we are ready…”
That’s easy stuff to think up. I’m a little stuck on addressing the sex out of wedlock and for pleasure not procreation aspect, but I’m sure they’ll come up with something.

This is exactly what would happen along with victim blaming.
“The girls knew what they were doing / getting into.”
    “They were paid …” etc.
  6. Just wait until you close in on 65... I get about 15 calls daily, about "the new Trump administrations changes to medicare..."  I'm not even on medicare!  But fuck, the number spoofing is mind blowing...
And yes it's about folks selling your information.  Why the fuck can't our government make unwanted solicitations a crime with enough penalties to stop the endless bullshit.  It's the best part about going offshore or off grid.  No more fucking calls that I do not fucking care about.

10 - 15 a day on the Medicare or “you have market place insurance, correct?” It’s gotten to where I’m missing phone calls I need to take.
  7. As someone that has been in the gym consistently for almost twenty years now, I would wager that less than 20% of any age group could accomplish that. 15% might be a better guess.

General population - 5% of that age. Most people over 50 aren’t in the gym.

Thoughts? I’m 59 and can hit all of these but at the low end. Just started lifting 2 years ago and I’m not trying to max on anything but rather retain muscle .

All about flexibility and some decent muscle mass at this point in the game for me. Wonder what percentage of men my age can hit these? 25%?

Seems arbitrary. I can do all of those, but I’m not training for that anymore. Those number used to be bench your weight, squat 1.5, deadlift 2x. I used to have those, but god did it hurt. I finally realized I’m not trying to be a power lifter and looked for functional programming.

I did that for a while and now switched to trying to become an A group cyclist - which is a whole different lifting style.

In reality - your goals should determine what you’re doing in the gym.
  9. Won't be #scaleshamed again, but I'm stuck at 207# after a pretty consistent dropping from 235 to 215.  I continue to believe my diet is solid, that this is just my body adjusting to a new norm, and the weight will start to come off with time, but after so much positive reinforcement, the last month or so has left me wanting a bit.

We are on the same path. I’m down from 239 to 208. I’m adjusting my diet again after my vacation. Kick start the next phase of weight loss.

  10. Again, herbie is too blinded by hatred to understand what I actually said. He’s clearly someone that weightlifts or powerlifts as a hobby and is aiming to push his body to its absolute limits. That’s someone that should be using belts, straps, chalk. Like I said. If you’re just interested in staying in shape, staying strong, as I imagine most on here are, that stuff is unnecessary.

Exactly. Since I switched to tempo work, gloves, straps, weight belt - have all gone away. My joints all feel better and I’m functionally moving better than I have in a very long time. I’m down from 239 (Jan of this year) to 208 (today). I’m 47 and will never try to squat 2x my body weight again. I have no need to.

  11. Unless you’re comparing them to the gay Dems you know, I think it’s the gay part and not the ex-Republican part that makes them fun to hang out with socially. Not entirely, because there’s a lot of diversity in the gay community just as in any other, but in my experience gay folks are generally pretty fun to party with. But I can’t say I’ve ever hung out with a gay Republican, current or former (afaik).

I have and it was really strange. He had pictures with GW Bush and had some autographed stuff from Bush Sr. He lives in Towne Lake, so the politics sorta track.
  12. Yuki last in Q1. It's amazing how bad the 2nd RB is.

At this point - it’s the car. This is the third driver that cannot drive that car and the set up they’ve built.

  13. Thoughts in high reps/light weight workouts?  Often times I’ll just grab 30 lb dumbbells and bench to failure. Not trying to be in any contrast.  Just want to be active

Try tempo work over very high reps. 12 - 15 reps with a 3 second tempo.
