Plan Bs should have closed shortly after Plan A fell through. It appears there is arrogance or stupidity at play in some of these efforts and my guess is both.
This is all I was asking. I wanted to understand specifically about the loss of Bo and as he did play some later in the year wondered if he was simply falling into the pitfall of self-overvaluation or if there was an issue. I don't care to deep dive into all the specifics of national recruiting and asking a question about a specific Texas player in the recruiting thread seemed appropriate. Asking for clarification if this was a Texas or system problem didn't seem to be such a toxic question. Moving forward I'll claim to know shit and make statements rather than ask questions because that's the fucking Surly way.
I didn't imply anything, I asked and admitted my ignorance. I don't see other top NIL schools losing pipeline players currently on the team like Bo. I asked if there were issues with Bo I wasn't aware of that might lead to his departure. I don't imply shit. I state my opinion and position clearly. People are blaming the NIL environment and I was asking if other top NIL universities had the same issues. You provided no examples at all. I do know Texas has and continues to have portal issues with OL. I was concerned that might be an issue again this year given the return of flood and no changes at GM. It's not an insane question to ask if Bo looking to portal is a system or a Texas problem. We did bring in a new DC and maybe Bo isn't a good fit for reasons I am not aware of currently. Doesn't sound like that is the case.
Is the system broken or is Texas' system broken? I'm not being a smart ass nor sarcastic. Are these types of issues common at all the top universities. Is there negative press about Bo I don't know? I recall him being well regarded coming out of HS and don't recall issues since. So why is he shopping and why is that a system problem and not a Texas problem?
Above and beyond all of this the 12 package is when the offense has struggled the most for the entirety of Sark's tenure, but particularly last year. I know I'm a doom and gloomer but I find it difficult to get excited about any 12 success with anyone currently on the roster.
I'm not saying you're incorrect but there is another equally reasonable explanation. Will already stepped away from coaching for family time at Georgia. There is a possibility Will is legitimately interested in a smidgen better work life balance and having Blake here with him, someone he knows and trust already helps. In that same line of thought, could be a succession plan in an ideal world. Muschamp goes back to HC elsewhere/retires for family and Blake steps in. I know fuck all, but this seems as reasonable an explanation for why Blake would come and why Will would want it. Doesn't exclude your reasons from being true either. Also, it's not impossible it was a big pay upgrade to come home.
Klatt suggested something similar. What I do know is 2 things absolutely must change. First the P4 must separate from the G5. Second, this subjective ass committee bullshit, comprised of folks with a LOT of bias and motives is absolutely fucking regarded.
Ya know, I was pretty agnostic on the Kiffen hate. More, don't hate the player hate the game sorta deal. Yeah he was a Dbag but... kind of a redundant reality with Football HCs. Now... I think he might be my modern day Spurrier. I need a coach to hate and sure Kirby is a prick but he doesn't hit some of the arrogance quota to match with Spurrier the way Kiffen is recently.
Yo, it's Surly and it's the off season. Arguing dumb shit in the margins is what we do here, you know this man! We're both happy now, and Arch curb stomped the winningest program in college football in a well watched bowl game. That's good for portal needs, recruiting and our souls, so in a rare moment of kumbaya let's hold hands and be friends.
You've been consistently shitting on Arch every chance you get since OSU. There is no opportunity for meaningful engagement as you refuse to acknowledge some realities about our team and coach. The OL was beyond bad to start the season and Sark created a game plan that made those issues notably worse for a 1st year starting QB. Yes, Arch was the player making the mistakes but his HC, OC, OL coach, OL, WRs and RBs did everything possible to make it as bad as possible.
Well bro, you responded to me so... I do get your bigger point though. There is VY then... well... I don't know of any other QB who went full, I'm doing this, you can't stop me.
I said it was a feeling similar to his time here. I did NOT say he was VY. I think it perfectly reasonable to acknowledge that for the first time in 20 fucking years I had absolute and complete confidence in a QB to win a game. Yes, sometime I felt it with Colt, hell even some with James Brown. However, that feeling of confidence has been missing for 2 decades. I'm not saying he is VY, but it's nice to actually feel that level of confidence. So to sooth your concerns let me help. Unlike VY who I knew would overcome the issues of MB and GDGD. I said so to a friend post game after beating Michigan in the Rose Bowl. Unfortunately, I do NOT believe Arch can overcome the ineptitude that is The Sarkisian Effect for an entire season. I hope I'm wrong. Feel better now?
That's the weirdest part about him. He and Quinn had extremely similar years in 24. However, it was predictable when Quinn would have errors. Almost always under pressure with longer route patterns when he had to sit in the pocket for a long time. Honestly, Reed has the same issue, not that they are the same quality, just have similar issues. Most QBs who have issues have them consistently under x, y and z conditions. Not the case here. Sometimes, not under any pressure in the pocket, sometimes rolling and a late decision to throw, sometimes in a very WTF way. Then he has a game like yesterday and I'm left scratching my head.
I said it on the Arch thread but will say it again. Arch is a generational QB. His early season struggles are primarily the fault of poor OL and play calling. Arch came more into control of the game as the season and play calling altered and his confidence grew. I thought he did the same thing against aggie and Vandy, but I agree that once he started firing, this game never felt in question. I actually texted a friend that "Arch is driving the bus, we are winning 100%" midway through the 2nd with the Endries TD. It was a very VY sort of feeling, it was very nice.
Well in order of priority I absolutely agree on OL first. Hence why I changed his WRs to OL. I would love if we got a top WR coach and I don't think we have a legit WR1.
