  1. They're getting healthy. The reason for the dramatic uptick is their announcement that they're converting to a corporation and leaving the MLP structure behind.
  2. Just picked up one of these: The Link Basically it's a 10/22 receiver modified with a biathlon style bolt action. It should be extremely quiet with a supressor and .22 subsonics. Can't wait to take it for a spin.
  3. Saw Isbell on Monday night. Great show and a fantastic talent. The live version of Cover Me Up was incredible.
  4. 4. OPEC has a huge unfunded liability problem (not unlike the US, but much less diversification) and needs higher oil prices to support an unproductive populace to remain in power. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. The fried pork chops are the best I've ever had.
  6. It's not bad, but super slow. It's great for little kids as all the tables are situated around a pond that has a ton of large goldfish in it.
  7. There are literally not enough puke emojis on this website... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. I believe you and I would get along well. Clase Azul Blanco is by far my go to sipping tequila, and I love the Don Julio Anejo with soda water and a dash of Simply Lime.
  9. EIA: Crude - (4.617) Gasoline - (1.116) Distillate - .537 Pretty good report.
  10. We're a few years away from having to make any huge decisions, but the good thing is that although my company is very small, we do have an office in Dallas, and if we need to move to a place with better care, I've been assured there will be no issues. My wife is a native Midlander and her folks are here, but as we get a better feel for what we're dealing with from a spectrum perspective, relocation is definitely an option for us. At this point, I'm fully on board with making sure our son has every opportunity to lead a productive and fulfilling life.
  11. Would love to help out if we can. We're in Midland, and would love to connect if you're willing.
  12. I'm assuming you're referring to the higher probability of leukemia and cancer in kids with DS. Anything else specifically we should worry about or screen for? Still very early in this journey, and really appreciate the response. I'm truly blessed to have an amazing wife, and we have a great relationship. So far, we've been able to handle all of the mental strain and stress without too much of a disruption to our daily lives. I know that all of that can change any time we visit the doc (referring to the above), but we're in a good place right now.
  13. Great post. My friend that has a 5 year old son with DS has said very similar things about his kid.
  14. This smile makes everything a lot easier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks for the insight. We've got two very close friends that have children with DS, and one of the fathers practices family law. They've been a tremendous resource. At this point, there's not a whole lot of difference between Ben and the other kids, he's still just a baby. But I know the differences are coming and it's nice to have a few folks to be able to bounce questions off of.
  16. Whay age are your other kids? 6, 5, and 3. We're nuts.
  17. And BTW, thanks for all the replies.
  18. How hard was it growing up with a sibling with DS? I'm very grateful that my son is going to have three older siblings to look out for him over the course of his life. I think he's going to teach the other kids about a lot of other things that they wouldn't have the same exposure to in other circumstances.
  19. The weirdest part of this is not really having any idea where Ben's going to fall on the spectrum. From everything I've seen so far, I expect he's going to be relatively high functioning, but we won't really have an idea for a few years.
  20. Completely agree. The biggest concern for me as a parent is how is our little dude going to be treated by the rest of the world as he grows up and becomes an adult. I know he will always have unwaivering unconditional love at home, but the world is full of assholes (see: surlyhorns).
  21. Not sure what ARC is. We're in West Texas, so resources are a little different that they are in a major metropolitan area. That being said, there are some pretty outstanding organizations that we've had access to to help with early intervention and occupational therapy. We've been going to therapy basically since Ben was born to try to ensure that he has every opportunity to succeed.
  22. For the record, was a long time member of Shaggy, although very infrequent poster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. Not sure if this is the right board to post this on, but what the hell, I’ve been curious. My wife and I had our fourth kiddo in June of last year. Our son has Down Syndrome. So far, we’ve been fortunate to avoid many of the significant health issues that kids with DS encounter; heart, respiratory, etc. Our little guy is a complete badass, and the happiest little man I’ve been around. Anyone else part of the 3/21 club? Happy to answer any questions to the best of my ability as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. The book was great, can’t wait to see if the movie translates. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
